Ella's Room

Apparently even the acolyte's were against the use of the potion. She had only told them to be on the safe side, but after they had been overly talkative about their dislike for that decision. As if she cared, it wasn't like anyone could do anything about it now. Really the only time she had a second thought on using the potion was when the pain got worse. Sure she would have had to deal with it eventually anyways, but later was better.

In the end it didn't matter about the annoyance of the healer, the pain, or the fact she had started to regret not having Jordan go with her, because Juliette was fine. Just because she had used the potion before and had it work didn't mean she didn't have her doubts this time. Ella waited impatiently as they took Juls away to be looked over and to put a wrist band on her like the one El had.

Once she was wrapped up in a blanket she was handed back to Ella who was near close refusing to hand over the next time they asked.

"Your Aunty Jordan is not going to be happy with me but she's going to be glad to see you,"
she laughed.

She wouldn't hear the end of it from Jordan no doubt. Rose on the other hand would have been all for the idea. It had crossed her mind that maybe Ryder should know, but as quick as the thought came she dismissed it. He didn't deserve to be there.

Faustus realized that sending Emily anywhere after last night would be ridiculous. He needed to give her time, so everything could be like before. He knew how would it be - different conversations, short and uncertain glances, everything full of wondering... he didn`t want to have to deal with it, so he decided to wait for that phase to pass. Everything should be back to normal in few days.

That was the reason why he was the one to go to St. Mungos and not Em. He needed to get some healing potions - weird how quickly they were used. It didn`t matter though.

He wasn`t using any spells to disguise himself, instead he just wore a long black coat and a hat. Sometimes people were pretty much blind. He had reached the fifth floor and was going towards the labs - ready to get his wand, just in case - when he overheard few acolytes talking. There were only three words he needed to hear - potion, baby, Morvanna. That was pretty much what made him turn around and go back to the stairs.

Before he knew it he was standing in front of the door that one Healer pointed towards. Ella Morvanna. There were no other possibilities, were there? And Faustus didn`t even knock. Instead he just walked in, didn`t look at the bed and turned to face the door. Pulling out his wand he locked it. He knew that Ella was in the bed behind him. And probably knowing that was what let him do everything right first.

At last he turned around to face her and leaned his back on the door. She was holding the child in her hands and... he wasn`t quite sure what he was feeling. Every since he heard those acolytes talking everything was kind of blur. It took him few minutes to realize that he still was holding his wand.

"You didn`t even tell your husband, did you?" he breathed out, looking at her emotionlessly.

Ella didn't bother to look up when she heard someone walk in because she figured it was one of the acolytes again having forgotten something or having something else to tell her. She was too distracted and too tired to really care at that point, but when she heard the click of the lock on the door she did look up. It wasn't obvious at first who it was till he actually turned around, and she wasn't sure how to react to that. The fact the door was locked made her nervous, but him having his wand out didn't help either and she held Juliette a little bit closer.

"He's not my husband anymore so no. I didn't want him here," she answered.

He had made it clear before he all but hated Juls so she didn't see what reason he even had to be there. It would have been easier just to ask but for right now she didn't.

Faustus listened to her answer and nodded slowly. "That`s understandable." he said silently, before taking a look around. The last time he had been in Mungos was when his mother became a part of that one big game. He wondered if he was born in Mungos and he hoped not, because it looked horrible to him.

Bringing his eyes back on Ella, he slowly put the wand in his pocket and moved forwards. Knowing that he had control over the situation was the main reason why he was so calm. Last time he saw Ella he wasn`t calm at all. "Don`t worry. I`m not here to hurt you." he said simply, realizing that it might look like it. After all, wasn`t it him who told her not to go see him? Everything just got messed up so bad lately...

His eyes landed on the ball of blankets in her arms. Something told him that he shouldn`t think about it as a baby - just a ball of blankets. "And I`m not going to hurt... it. Whatever it is." he added after a bit.

It wasn't that easy to trust Faustus' word but it helped that he had put his wand away to which she just nodded at what he said. It didn't mean she wasn't on edge still, but she felt more comfortable with that out of the way. What did manage to irritate her however was the way he spoke about Juliette. Maybe he didn't see anything wrong about that but she did.

"Her name is Juliette," Ella snapped.

Maybe usually she wouldn't have been so defensive so easily, but this wasn't normal circumstances.

"What are you doing here anyways?"

To put herself more at ease she reminded herself he had probably locked the door so he wouldn't get caught. She didn't think he could just easily walk around places and not expect someone to recognize him. Honestly what was making her the most uncomfortable was probably the fact for once she hadn't started something. He had walked in this time. Losing any control over the situation didn't exactly sound safe.

Faustus raised his eyebrows at her words. "I didn`t ask. Did I?" his voice sounded much more serious and cold than before. He didn`t need to know, he didn`t want to. Thinking about it just like it was a thing was better. He didn`t need a name, nor anything else. It wasn`t like he was planning to even have time to look at the... thing.

Taking off his hat he placed it on the chair. Then slowly took his coat off as well and put it near the hat. Through all that his eyes were stuck on Ella. He didn`t know what normal people did in that kind of situations, but he didn`t care. It was none of his concern, right?

...then why was he there?

With a sigh he moved closer to the bed and since the chair was occupied with his things, he sat down on the edge of the bed. His eyes were still stuck on her. At her question though? He gave her a small smile. "What do you mean?" Faustus asked, crooking his head to right. The serious and cold tone was gone. He was being... soft.

"Well I told you anyways."

She wasn't going to just take his bad attitude or whatever bad mood he apparently wanted to be in. Whatever it was she doubted it was her fault. It'd be like him to take it out on someone that had nothing to do with it. The way he was acting wasn't making her feel any less uncomfortable, and normally she probably wouldn't have cared when he sat down like he did, but again with the way he was acting she would have rather he hadn't.

"I mean what are you doing here? You're the last person I figured would show up. Especially after the last time I talked to you."

From how he was acting then to now was a complete difference. Not one she was so sure about.

Faustus didn`t drop the smile which was on his lips. It wasn`t big, and yet there it was, looking rather unusual and not exactly in it`s place. But weirdly enough, even if it all looked like it made no sense, he knew exactly what he was doing. And that gave him a lot of confidence. Not that he was lacking in it, just sometimes around Ella he`d be lost.

"Oh... the last time..." he murmured as he sighed again. Ignoring the child. It didn`t exist. It didn`t change things and yet, to him it didn`t exist. Trying not to think about it he slowly stretched out his hand and brushed his fingers down her cheek. It was a light touch, but soon he pulled his hand back.

"Well, you gave birth. I figured you`d want someone to be near, since your husband didn`t seem to show up." he spoke as if his previous words weren`t even said aloud. Slowly he moved his eyes away from her. He wondered would she understand if he told her?

On the other hand? He knew that he would never tell her.

The whole change in attitude easily threw her off. She wasn't sure what to think of it but then again she figured maybe she shouldn't and just be okay with it. Considering Juliette had fallen asleep for now, Ella put her in the hospital bassinet that had been wheeled in before; figuring right now that was best anyways considering the situation. As far as his reasoning went it came as a surprise, but she honestly didn't want to start argument or something.

"Thanks."

It was just easier not to question it. Still, even if pushing boundaries before had gotten her into trouble she wasn't going to let that one situation stop her from pushing boundaries this time. She didn't necessarily hold his hand, which she didn't think she could do nor wanted if she thought about how weird the situation was, but put her hand over his.

"You alright?"

It might have seemed like a weird question but with the way he was acting El didn't think so.

Faustus wasn`t sure how Ella would react. After all, he was the one who told her to stay away from him. He told her not to see him again. Basically yelled at her. It all went down hill since she told him she liked him. And there he was, being all nice to her. If he was in her shoes, he knew he`d be more than confused. But since he wasn`t? He felt fine.

He nodded to her silently. What was he supposed to say? "No Problem"? It sounded stupid and weird. It wasn`t like this was a normal 'thank you' situation. Then again... there was nothing normal when it came to them. They were just too weird. Both of them. And he wasn`t afraid to admit that.

But when she asked if he was alright? He started laughing. Yet, he laughed silently, not wanting to wake the child. That was probably the only way he even acknowledged the fact that there was a child in the room. "Am I alright?" he repeated, still laughing a bit.

Shaking his head to himself, he picked up her hand that she placed over his, and looked at it. He knew he could ask why she did so. But he didn`t. Instead he just held her hand and looked up to her. "What actually makes you think that I’m not alright?" he wondered.

None if it was ever going to make sense. One minute they got along as well as could be expected and the next he was angry about something. Honestly she was past questioning it anymore because that only made it worse usually. Ella was still cautious though because he had said it before that she shouldn't trust him. She knew that even if she never listened to it.

"How you're acting," Ella answered. "I thought you'd still be mad about last time or the fact that you told me to stay away and now you're the one randomly showing up."

She looked at her hand that he now he had in his own which wasn't the reaction she expected. Anyone else probably would have thought it was a good change but it was too sudden. Something had to be going on.

The smile which made Faustus look almost happy soon disappeared. He looked more worried and thoughtful, but it wasn`t very clear. None of the expressions on his face were clear - except anger. The one thing that could completely control him. One emotion he was strongest with and also weakest. It was insane.

Silently breathing out he stood up, letting go of her hand. Instead he moved towards the opposite wall. "The thing is that... you don`t know me." he spoke, until he reached the wall. That made him stop and turn around. He was walking back to the bed. "And you never will." he added. That was a pretty much clear hint.

He stopped and watched her in silence for few moments. "I`m not mad. Well... not at you." he spoke, trying to decide if he should stay there by the bed or move away. Something told him that looking at her would be harder than turning around.

"The last time... it ended all wrong." he murmured.

At last he turned around again and moved a small window. Placing his hands on the windowsill he stabbed his eyes outside. "That`s the real reason why I`m here." yes, she was right. He wasn`t alright. But this... this was going to make it all alright. He felt his how muscles tensed up. "I`m here to end it properly." he breathed out.

"You haven't even given me a chance to know you. You never tell me anything."

Or if she asked he got angry about it. That wasn't her fault. She had asked questions before and she remembered how that ended. She didn't blame him for snapping like he did, but she did blame him for not answering. He wasn't going to do this again. Like the alley way. She hadn't listened though so what him think she would this time?

Ella didn't know what to say to him. Anything she said probably wouldn't make a difference anyways so what did it matter? She didn't care who he was mad at, or whose fault it was.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

It wasn't anything to begin with. Maybe if she honest with herself then she'd admit she had wanted it to be something, but she didn't put thought into that. Not with how he was when she even admitted to liking him. The less she believed in it then the less it would hurt.

Faustus knew that he didn`t tell anything - he didn`t want her to know him. He didn`t want anyone to know him. That only gave them some power over him and exactly that was the last thing he needed. After all, if Ella knew him, he was sure that this wouldn`t work. So, in a very weird way, he was actually lucky.

Although he found it weird that such white and horrible hospital room would be the witness of what he had to say. Although when he thought about it, maybe it was for the better. It would be harder to do in known surroundings, like his house. Well, he knew that time like that would come. That was why he tried not to think about it.

"That means that... you won`t be able to come to the manor again." he spoke silently, still staring through the window. "Remember the mark I gave you? It`s the only thing that allows you to come there. Other way you`d have to break in, and I know that`s pretty hard. So... without the mark, you won`t be able to get inside." he explained slowly. What were the odds of meeting randomly? Probably non existing.

He was silent then. No, he knew he wasn`t going to get angry that moment. He came to end it properly, and he was going to. And he was going to said what had to be said. Leaning forwards he placed his forehead against the cool glass. "Ella..." he said silently before breathing in. Somehow it was harder than he thought. "I like you. And I can`t allow it." he closed his eyes for a second. Not that it mattered - she could only see his back anyway.

Ella hated the fact he managed to play around with her emotions. It felt like the alley way all over again but this time she was refusing to end up in tears about it. She was upset sure but she wasn't outwardly showing it just yet. Not till she got frustrated enough that she didn't care if she snapped at him. Sore and tired or not she still moved to sit on the bed with her legs hanging over the side so she could actually look at him even if he had his back to her.

"You know what it sounds like? Like you're giving up. Like you're too scared to let someone actually get close. Are you really that selfish? Because whether you like it or not I like you and every time you turn around and decide that you want to walk away, it hurts. It shouldn't hurt. I've told myself that so many times, but the fact that it does hurt has to mean something.

I don't care about getting hurt or whatever stupid reason you have, because it just doesn't matter. There's no way my life can get any more screwed up than it already is, but I for one can not do this again."

It was so irritating and things she normally would have kept to herself she said. What did it matter? She didn't think he was going to listen anyways.

"If this is some stupid noble crap where you leave to avoid me getting hurt, then newsflash doing this on its own hurts. If it's just something for your self, then that's just plain selfish and I was wrong about you then."

Faustus was expecting something like that. A long rant, telling him how it felt, telling him not to do this again... he knew it would come, so it made him smile a bit. It wasn`t a happy smile, though. Turning around at last he faced her. An expression of worry crossed his face as he realized that she was sitting. "Lay down." he asked. And usually? He didn`t ask. This was pretty rare.

The sad smile still lingered on his lips. She was right. She was more right than she thought that she was. "It`s good, because it means that you were wrong about me." he spoke slowly. "Maybe it will get all that 'like you' thing out of your head. If you started hating me, that is." he spoke, wondering if she`d understand what he meant.

"You see... it`s no 'noble crap' this time. Yes, last time I`ve tried to protect you. It didn`t work out. As you can see for yourself..." he wasn`t sure why was he smiling. This all situation seemed pretty absurd. "But then I didn`t knew what I felt towards you. Now that I do? I`m going to be selfish. This time I`m being final, cutting you off of any way to see me." Explaining things seemed hard and he wasn`t sure why was he doing so.

"Believe me, you were very wrong about me. I`m not giving up, because... well, there`s nothing to give up on. I`m just... not letting myself get into all that stuff. That`s all." he said, as if it was the most obvious thing ever. As if running away from any feelings was normal.

It wasn't just upsetting, it was frustrating. It just felt that way and probably accounted for why she snapped. When he told her to lay down? Did he expect her to actually listen?

"I'm not going to hate you. Clearly that's pretty impossible," she said as she stood up. "I told you before I don't want to ignore it. Whatever it is. Whatever it could be. It's so stupid that you just want walk away like it's nothing."

It felt stupid too what else she wanted to say. What she wanted to say before and covered up with some other stupid word. She knew he wouldn't like it and he wouldn't still. If it didn't matter anymore then why not say it? If she wasn't so easily upset by things then it wouldn't be so big of a mess.

"So you think running away from things just makes it better? Trust me it doesn't."

Ella didn't really want to say it. Not when now of all times was not the time. In some ways it was sure, because she doubted she'd see him again, and then again it would no doubt make things worse. She wasn't sure she believed in her own words anyways. Not after what she told Emily. She had said that because of the bad mood she was in, but partly it was true. She couldn't just throw out those sort of words only to have them thrown back at her again. She had tried to avoid all that and ended up right in it anyways.

"You know, I don't even know why I should bother to say this to you because you obviously won't listen. You're going to turn around and walk out that door and I'll never see you again anyways."

Avoiding it was always the best way to go. Still if she didn't it would bother her. If she did it would no doubt too so either way...

"I love you. Does that make a difference?"

Maybe he was somehow naive to believe that it was going to end with just a small argument. But he really hoped that it would have. He had no idea why she was so keen on him. Why did she even want to be around him. But he figured that knowing why wouldn`t change anything, that was why he never asked.

Strange, how you don`t ask, but simply get the answer thrown in your face.

That Faustus wasn`t expecting. Those three annoying words, he did not expect them. He was sure that Ella would tell him she liked him and so on. He had no idea that she was so badly screwed up. To actually even think that she loved him. It was impossible. He knew it was. He also knew that she just gave birth, she was desperate and... well, she liked him. he knew that people in that condition could say anything. Because he was sure that she, of all people, would never love him.

So, he turned his eyes away and sighed. "Ella, don`t be ridiculous..." he murmured. Did she really think that he was going to believe it?

"Even... even if you did, it wouldn`t change a thing." he spoke slowly. It was hard to protect himself and try not to hurt her too much. "It wouldn`t change me, the person who I am." he wasn`t sure who was he trying to save that moment. Her or himself. He wasn`t sure about anything. And once again she had swept all confidence away from him. Why kept she doing that?

"Don`t waste it on me."

Ella wasn't sure what to say to him anymore considering it seemed like everything she said he ignored or didn't believe. It was nearly exhausting.

"Why do you have turn everything around and make it seem like I don't mean it? Don't talk to me like I have no idea what I'm talking about."

Pausing for a second she sat down instead of just standing there. Today of all days was not one in which she wanted to deal with this situation. It was supposed to be one day that went normally. One day that didn't upset her in any way at all. Not even that could go right.

"When are you going to get it through your head? I don't want you to change. I want you to be exactly who you have been. What the hell happened to the first time I came to see you? Or any time before you ran into me and Ryder in Diagon Alley. Before that you acted different than you do now. Like I screwed something up."

Faustus watched her in silence. He knew he always had to make people around him look like idiotic dummies. It was just how he acted, to make himself feel stronger and smarter. It was no different with Ella. He never listened. Never thought that she might be right. And when she said those words? He wished he could ignore them.

So, he stayed silent about that. Didn`t answer her, didn`t comment. He could only agree with her and he didn`t want to. Maybe she knew him better than he thought that she did.

Her next words made him shook his head. Pulling his eyes away from her he stabbed them at the ground. "You screwed up me, Ella." he said slowly. Honestly sucked. But of all the times in his life, he figured that that exact moment wasn`t so bad to actually be honest with her. "Didn`t you hear when I told you I liked you? Do you think that`s normal of me?" he frowned and looked straight at her.

"Just last night I was trying to prove myself that you couldn`t ever love me. But here you are, telling me that you do." it was weird to speak in a silent voice that had no coldness in it. To speak in that voice for so long to realize that instead of coldness there was defeat. "You are the first person who keeps screwing up everything inside me and I can`t even fight it, because I`m too afraid to hurt you." he finished, still frowning a bit, trying hard not to believe his own words. Well, it was pretty much impossible.

"I`m tired of feeling like that, Ella. I was never supposed to turn out like that." he murmured, closing his eyes and leaning his head backwards. Ugh, this was much harder than he thought it would be.
