For emergent cases -- Julie had gone home to check on the kids and get cleaned up and such, and Jace really hoped she took the time to sleep. They had been gone for how long? He didn't know. But he did lay back down, as she had asked him to, and it wasn't long before he was rolled into a room and looked at. He had to drink a few potions - uhm, yuck? - and for the most part, his cuts were healed; the bite had a bandage around it, and all of the remaining open skin had a salve working against infection. His bruises, which, he would be able to contest was his whole body (just one, big ass bruise) were also given sticky salves to help them fade and become less tender. It had taken a little while, and once he had been given pain potion, Jace had drifted into unconsciousness. |

When Julie had gotten home after making sure Jace was being taken care of by the Healers, she'd found a very worried Lina. But Claire and Arram were ok - the first thing she had done was look in on them while they were sleeping, smiling just at the sight of them. And then she had showered and gone to sleep, merely telling Lina that it was "a huge maze - I'll explain later" and had asked her to stay the night so she could see Jace in the hospital the next morning. She had been tempted to just change and go back that night, except she wanted to spend the night in the same place as her children. But the next morning, she was up bright and early to feed the kids breakfast and eat herself, and then she was off to the hospital. Entering Jace's room, she saw that his eyes were closed, and she didn't want to wake him - he could probably use all the sleep he could get - so she just sat down quietly next to his bedside, waiting for him to wake up. He looked better than he had last night, most of the cuts being healed, and the bruising fading quickly thanks to wizarding healing techniques. |

Jace heard someone enter the room, but his face was pretty sore, and he didn't want to open his eyes if it was just some acolyte or healer making sure he was still alive. You know, the regular stuff. But when he heard that the said someone was sitting down - hearing was an important part of awareness, for him - he did put forth the effort to actually be able to look at Julie. Who else would be visiting him, after all ? "Did you sleep long enough? How are the kids?" Damn maze, crushing his throat. It was healed, but they said he'd be speaking hoarsely for a while until his voice box healed as well. It was the only really lasting thing; even his rib had been readjusted and, just like everything else, the soreness would be gone soon enough. Thank merlin for magic, right? |

Julie smiled as he looked at her, shaking her head in disbelief - the maze had seriously injured him, and the first thing he asks about are her and the kids? Really. His voice sounded a bit hoarse when he spoke still, but at least he looked better than he had the previous night. "I'm fine, well rested," she said, waving off that topic. "The kids are ok too. They've just been staying with my cousin." Thank Merlin Lina was there. Julie wouldn't have even known what to do with herself if she and Jace had gotten taken to the maze and no one had been there to watch them. "She... well, she managed to work out a routine for them." At least she had gotten to see them that morning before she'd gotten to Mungo's. "I'm pretty sure Arram misses you though." That, she had definitely been able to tell. Not that the little boy hadn't been happy to see her, but Julie knew he absolutely adored Jace and was no doubt wondering what had happened to him. "How are you?" she returned. After all, he was the one lying in the hospital bed. "I was so worried about you,' she admitted softly. "I... that maze... What exactly.. happened?" |

Well it was a damn good thing that her cousin was there. Jace was really worrying about that. Because really? The Maze had to take both of them when they had the kids, naturally. That wasn't something he'd wanted to think about...Arram in particular had enough mistreatment to last him a lifetime. Jace sighed in relief, and shifted, wincing slightly - and then huffing at his wince, because that hurt too. "I'll have to thank her." He said, "As soon as they let me out of here. Which is going to be soon." Why? Because he had better things to do than lay in a hospital bed. Honestly, it was such a waste of time. He had to smile, pain or not, when Julie said that Arram missed him. Yeah yeah, he was a softie. So? Her last question though, Jace reached over for her, tilting his head, "Come 'ere." He grinned, and said, "You know what I really want right now? A salad. Chomp on those green leaves and show 'em who's the top of the food chain." Okay, so mayyybe he was on a little more medication than was capable to think...clearly. |

Julie nodded, fully understanding his impatience with the hospital. "I spoke to your Healer," she said. "He told me that they've treated all of your serious injuries and that he wanted to check on you in a little. But after that, he was pretty sure that when you feel up to leaving, we can get the discharge papers and go home. But he also said you need to take it easy for the next week or so," she cautioned him. Yes, she did think that Healers were often way too cautious and severely underestimated their patients, but she did think there was something to be said for having him take it easy. When he reached over, Julie was more than happy to comply with his request, getting up to sit on the bed beside him, laughing softly at his next statement. She leaned over to kiss his forehead gently. "Well, the maze burned down. Someone lit it on fire." Of course, she really couldn't even tell him who, considering she'd been extremely preoccupied with much more important things at the time. "But once you get out of here, I'll get you whatever you want. Salad, pasta, chocolate cake, duck a l'orange... whatever." All right, so maybe she still felt a little guilty. But she was actually positive she'd want to take care of him anyways. "But actually - don't ask for that last once, because I've no chance in hell of learning how to cook that. Baby steps..." Well, she was planning on trying to make dinner, although she...wasn't entirely sure how that was going to go over yet. |

Jace rolled his eyes, something he was glad to be able to do without it hurting. And he could actually see, which was a big plus...now that Julie was there. His healer, yeah, not so easy on the eyes. "Serious, whatever." He also was a big down-player on his own injuries, apparently. Jace honestly, just stared at her when she said he had to take it easy for a week. A week, bloody hell. "Maybe today." He said, eyebrows furrowed just the slightest. A week would be more time than was necessary. It really wasn't that bad. Really, he felt great, other than a few aches and pains. Minor, of course. When Julie sat next to him, because that wasn't exactly what he had in mind, he pulled her back down, and kissed her like he'd never get a chance to again. It was adorable that she was worrying so much about him, and he could tell she was worrying... "I'm really, bloody glad you're alright." He muttered, pulling back a few minutes later. Her offers of food was amusing, though, and he just watched her silently. "Chocolate cake, really?" Considering she was a cheesecake girl, after all. So he didn't actually like...salads. |

Yes, a week was probably a bit much. "Well," she shrugged, "the Healers have to overestimate on their time to cover their own asses if they screw up." It was a simple, well-known fact. "But maybe two days?" she suggested. Probably not likely, but at the very least she could suggest it. Of course, the next thing Julie knew she was being kissed, and she honestly had to brace herself, placing a hand on the bed, to keep herself sitting up straight. Her other hand strayed up to rest on his shoulder, and when he pulled away a few moments later, she was practically breathless. "And here I was thinking the same thing about you," she replied. "I mean, all I did was run around in the rain for a while." She could quite easily shove that off as unimportant. Because really, the thing that had affected her most was the fact that he had been hurt and had to be in the hospital. But he was going to be all right, thank Merlin. "And yes," she laughed. "Chocolate cake. Really. That is, if you trust me to make it." So for some reason she was bound and determined to cook something. |

Jace sighed. "I might be able to dole out two days of doing absolutely bloody nothing." Okay yeah, he didn't like the idea of resting, but he wasn't exactly stupid. He knew pushing it could be more detrimental than wasted time. He was quite smug when he took in her reaction to being kissed. See that? That was not wasted time. "Well. I was the maze's bitch for three days. I think I had more fun." If...you could honestly call that fun. Speaking of her cooking though, Jace was somehow able to smile at her and say, "I like that, I think." And be sort of truthful. Maybe he should be there while she was making it? Just in case. It wasn't that he didn't trust her...just...Julie and cooking were words that didn't get along. He'd found that out. Edited by Jason Varey, Jul 19 2009, 07:15 AM.

Julie just shrugged. "If you could, that'd be good. We'll see." She was non-committal about it. Yeah, she really wanted him to rest and take it easy, but she was also just so glad he was all right and going home that she was fine with letting him do whatever the hell he wanted, even if he wasn't resting the second he got out of the damn hospital bed. At his next comment, she just slid her arm around him and hugged him gently. "I think that's enough 'fun' for one week." She only smiled wryly when he said he'd like her to bake him something. Well, maybe she could. Brave man, though. Very, very brave. "Let's go home." Because really, did they honestly have to wait for the Healer to come ok it? "I don't think anyone's going to notice if we leave... that is, unless you'd like to wait for the Healer to come back and check on you again." She shrugged. She was willing to be he didn't want to, though. |

Jace just smiled, knowing that she probably knew him well enough at this point to know he wasn't the kind to lounge around for days without doing anything productive. Productive had many different meanings, but just laying in it with nothing before and nothing after, was not on his plate of 'fun things to do'. When she hugged him, Jace wrapped his arms around her - but stayed rather still. He definitely liked having her close, he wasn't going to make her pull away because she thought she was hurting him. Please, he could handle more than that. Her next suggestion though, made him push himself into a sitting position, and swing his legs over the side of the bed. It hurt, yes, but it wasn't something that was going to cripple him. He could walk. "Let's go." |

Julie stood up as he did, amused at how eager he seemed to be out of the hospital. Not that she could really blame him; she'd had enough of those places to last her a lifetime. And really; they could just leave. It didn't actually matter. If he needed something else, they could always come back. "All right. We're out of here." And then they disapparated. Chris lead them to one of the trauma rooms, and Sam immediately stood back. "Check him first," she said. "He lost a lot of blood. I mean, Gabe gave him a Blood Replenishing potion and some pain killers, but still..." Those gashes on his arm didn't look good at all, and they were still really worrying her. "I just have a mild concussion or something, so I'll sit here and wait." That seemed pretty logical to her. She sat down on the chair in the corner of the room, leaving the exam table for Pierce. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn't have been telling Chris how to do his job, but this was a little different. Well, she wasn't sure how this was different, but it must be if she thought that...right? Damn, it had been a long day. |

Chris couldn't help but grin at Sam's insistence on Pierce getting checked out first. That was very...like Sam. It probably wouldn't have mattered if she had lost a limb because she'd still be insisting Pierce get looked at first. This time, however, Chris was willing to tolerate it because she looked fine and was acting fine enough to justify her reasoning. "Ok, Pierce, guess it's your turn first. Now, do you remember how much of a blood replenishing potion you got or how many vials of pain killers?" Judging just by the expression on the man's face, he could tell that it was probably a strong pain killer. "Also, I'm going to need to unwrap the bandages so I can see what's already been done. Then I can check for signs of infection, clean things up and hopefully get everything healed." As he spoke, he went to the counter to pull out some supplies to disinfect, some bandages, and a couple of different salves, not quite sure exactly what he'd need yet. He added a potion or two to the mix, carrying it back over to the little tray next to the exam table and setting everything up there. "Can you just hold out your arms for me?" |

She was pretty pushy when she wanted to be, Pierce decided, feeling absolutely nothing but amusement as they were put in the trauma room. However, when she told the healer-friend of hers that he was to be checked first, Pierce crossed his arms - ow - and frowned at her. "I was already looked over by a healer. You were told to get checked. So go get checked." Still, it seemed to him that she wasn't budging on the matter, already seated in a chair, so with a sigh he turned back to the healer. "Hi. I'm Pierce." Well it was polite, right? He already knew his name though, and that was interesting. If he wasn't more interested in the things the healer was pulling out, he might have asked about it. "Little travel one. First aid-like-size. And one vial. Homemade I'm sure." He grinned. When asked, Pierce just held out his arms, palms up. |

"Nice to meet you, Pierce...Sam told me your name," he said by way of explanation. "I'm Chris Daniels," he introduced himself. When Pierce held out his arms, Chris gently unwrapped the bandaging that had been done, finding exactly what he thought he'd find: stitching. Normally Chris did a lot of Muggle Healing, but he did believe in avoiding stitches where they weren't needed and magic had much easier solutions for the same sorts of things. Opening one of the jars, he put it down next to Pierce and put gloved fingers in, coming up with green, gel-like salve. He spread the salve on Pierce's arms, all the way up the gashes. "This is one of the alternatives to Muggle stitching," he explained as he worked. "I'm going to put it on and re-bandage your arms. Over the next few hours and perhaps even overnight you might feel some light tingling. That's nothing to be worried about: that's just everything repairing. In 24 hours you can take the bandages off, and your arms should be as good as new." Once he was finished spreading the salve, he put the jar away, washed his hands and got a new pair of gloves, and then re-bandaged Pierce's arms. When he was done with that, he grabbed a small vial off one of the shelves and handed it to Pierce. "This is a moderate-strength pain killer. You've already had some, so you should probably only need this for tonight, and then you'll be fine." He paused for a moment. "Any questions?" |

"Nice to meet you." Pierce said, looking down at him arms with some kind of weird interest. It didn't look pretty, that was for sure, though Pierce didn't really spend a lot of time worrying if he looked 'pretty'. However, they were red, inflamed and swollen, the stitches looking like zippers up and down his arms. Zippers. Ha. that was funny. Chris got rid of them though, and started putting on something else on his arms. Magical healing? So much less painful than stitches. The coolness of the gel did a lot to ease the burning of his arms, and once they were re-bandaged, he couldn't really feel anything at all, except for the slight tingling, as he had been told. No problem. Pierce took the potion and then nodded, "Yeah, Gabe already gave me a balm for my face. Just, bruising or whatever." "Thank you. Now can you check Sam's head?" Stubborn thing, she was. |

When Chris was ready to check her, Sam stood up from the chair she'd been occupying. Now that she could be satisfied that Pierce was all right, she would allow Chris to look at her injuries. When Pierce asked if Chris would check her head, she just grinned at her boyfriend. "My head's fine; I'm not crazy," she laughed. Well, maybe it hurt just a little. She was pretty positive that it wasn't a concussion, though... ...at least, until Chris was telling her it was a concussion. But it was a mild one, and he just gave her a potion to take--once daily over the next few days--and then had to be on his way. Well, good thing that was a short and painless exam. When he was gone, she got up off the exam table and went over to Pierce. "So, how that we're both gonna be ok, what do you say we get out of here? I could definitely use some sleep." |

Pierce just rolled his eyes at Sam's insistence that she was fine, though he had to grin at her comment about not being crazy. "That's debatable." He teased, just leaning back against a wall as Chris moved to check Sam out. As he had suspected - from how she was moving, and her eyes - she had a concussion. Basically, it was a 'yay magic!' moment, because she too had just a simple thing to do in order to heal her. Potions, balms, it was all pretty amazing. The muggle way of healing was a lot more painful, a lot less fast. As Chris left, Pierce thanked him again, and then after Sam came over to him, he wrapped his bandaged arms around her, and asked, "My place or yours?" They decided on his, and within a few minutes were gone. |

Arriving at St Mungo's the pair were shown to Trauma Room 3 and Emma was laid on the bed as the Healer entered. Her voice was a little shakey, tired as she recounted the tale again this time really only explaining about how she came by her injuries and explaining how Gabe and Healer Kiley had done the best they could in the the circumstances, cleaning and stitching her stab wound. All Emma wanted to know was that the baby was alright and hadn't been hurt during the stabbing and wasn't overstressed abut all that had happened. She was eight and a half months along, afterall and wasn't meant to have been doing anything with high exertion, yet had been running over hot coals, fighting off a hungry vampire, battling lard entities of tarot cards...
