Krysi's room; BABY!

Of course children were definitely meant to slave away so they could have breakfast in bed. Krysi grinned, trying to imagine that, and although she knew the 'children' was plural only in the general sense, she pictured that too.

Except for, she wasn't really wanting to go through this all over again that quickly.

Future reference.

"My looks, your talent?" She shook her head, and then smiled softly, "Our baby will be perfect." Because she or he was theres, and that's all that mattered, right?

Oh crud, see, now she was getting all emotional...

[ok pretend this is happening before FIREMAZE. we just got distracted with the massive intensity of it. but I am finishinggg this rp]
Morgan nodded. "Exactly. Perfect," he echoed, smiling. Their baby would be perfect. No matter what. It was the weirdest - but most amazing - feeling in the world, loving someone he hadn't even met yet so much and so deeply. Yes, he had always loved his family, but this kind of unconditional love was... stronger. The knowledge that he and Krysi were entirely responsible for their baby, be it son or daughter, was amazing. It was absolutely fascinating and wonderful all at the same time.

Of course, they still had to get through the rest of the labor, and Morgan just kept his hand in Krysi's as he waited for the next contraction to hit.

"We're almost there," he tried to assure her. Thinking that maybe she wanted a distraction from the pain, he asked, "So what are we definitely on for names?" It was sort of 'now or never' for the decisions. And now was definitely the better option.

Krysi was thinking about the names they had discussed when the next contraction hit, and she just tried to remember to breathe. Maybe she was being overdramatic, but it hurt worse than the mark had. It hurt worse than crucio's did. It hurt so damn bad, she just wanted to curl up and scream.

But Krysi wasn't really one to make a huge deal about things, and so it was only shaky breathing, slight hitches, that came from her mouth, and the only movement she made was to curve in just a tad more. Still, after it had tapered to it's finish, she did realize that she was crying silently again, without any knowledge of letting herself do so in the first place.

Names. Focus, on the names.

"Uhm." Krysi breathed, closing her eyes once again. "Rael...Daniel, for a boy, right? And either...Rowan, or Rachel...Aileana, for a girl. And when we see him or her, we'll know."

Morgan rubbed her back supportively as the next contraction hit. He noticed the tears, wondering when it was going to be over. How could one of life's most amazing miracles hurt so much? He felt badly that Krysi was the one who had to go through all of the pain. Why was that the way it worked anyways? He'd heard it was because women could handle pain better, and he definitely agreed they could.

But it still just didn't seem fair.

"Yep. We'll know." He did agree with her that they couldn't really commit to one name until they saw their baby for the first time. They did, after all, have to make sure the name fit their child.

Chris came back in after a while to check on Krysi. "Hey. How are you holding up?" he asked her. Judging by the tears in her eyes, he was guessing she was ready for the labor to be over.

He only hoped he would be able to tell her that it was almost over. So he checked to see how far along he was and then smiled, saying, "Good news. You're 10 centimeters dilated: time for the actual delivery."

The delivery portion of the labor usually only lasted about an hour or so, so she was coming into the home stretch. "All right, so on the next contraction, I want you to squeeze and push for ten seconds. I'll count for you; just keep pushing until I get to ten."

Krysi really appreciated that he just kept holding her, and rubbing her back, but even that comfort wasn't enough to make it less uncomfortable at all. There was a lot of pressure, and even though it wasn't on her ribs anymore, she was still having to remind herself to breath. It was an instant, random reaction to think that stopping breathing makes things hurt less.

When Chris told her she was fully dilated, honestly, Krysi was really, really relieved. It meant the worst was to come, but it also meant that she was almost done. And almost done was music to her ears right then.

"Squeeze and push." Krysi repeated to show she understood. Before the next contraction, she took Morgan's free hand, because the sheets weren't doing much for her, and as it hit, she did just as he said. It seemed weird, really, to 'squeeze and push' and it was more of an instinctual thing. Because really, one might have asked 'squeeze what?'. But she just did it, her breathing a tad more laboured.

When Krysi gripped Morgan's hand, he kept it firmly in hers. She could feel free to squeeze as hard as she wanted... and that she did. She had... quite the grip. But then, she was currently pushing out his child, so it really wasn't that big of a deal.

"Good job," he encouraged her, stroking her hair gently with his free hand. "You can do this. You've got this. You're doing great. Just remember to breathe..."

It was funny, because he thought that he'd be freaking out so much more in this situation. But he wasn't. He was actually pretty calm. Excited...but calm. If that made any sense at all.

"Good job," Chris told Krysi as she began to push. He didn't see anything yet, but it usually took a few pushes before he could see the head start to crown. "You're going to do that with the next one too. Same thing; just push as hard as you can."

He waited for the next contraction to hit and started counting. "One, two, three, you can do this..."

He waited till her stomach unclenched before finishing his count to, "...ten. Good job. I think I'm starting to see the head..."

Merlin damnit. If she had thought those ridiculous contractions happening for minutes long relatively fast together, it was nothing compared to how it felt to be pushing. It was hard, and holding it for ten seconds? Ten seconds didn't seem so long, until you were bloody having a baby!

She knew her grip on Morgan had turned white-knuckled, but she couldn't bring herself to loosen up. Especially not when the next one started coming, and she had to push again. F.M.L.

This time, she couldn't help the, albeit short and more breath than noise, scream that came out of her mouth as it hit eight seconds. Two pushes, hours of contractions, and she was exhausted. Were there things you could have done to build muscle for this or something? Because she was dying. Really, dying. She could feel her hair sticking to her flushed face, her breathing was unsteady, hitching when it hurt too much...

She was really, really dazed in between.

As the next contraction hit and she had to push for the third time, she clenched her jaw, absolutely determined to do this. She had to, anyways, but...

There was a brief moment of weakness where she wondered if it was possible to accio a baby out.

A couple of more pushes, and sure enough? Chris could see the baby's head. "Good job, Krysi. The baby's head is crowning," he announced. "You're doing great, and you just need to keep up the good work. I promise, you're almost done."

He was honestly surprised at how quiet she was being. Most people he saw in labor were...significantly louder than that. But once the baby's head was out, it was just the shoulders, which was where there was the most concern with ripping and tearing, but hopefully that wouldn't be an issue.

Now Krysi knew why everyone always said 'breathe! just breathe!' when women were in labour. It was hard to remember to, there was so much pressure and pain and strength sapping, and so much to concentrate on, that it was honestly hard. So every minute or so, she was remembering to, dizzily gasping for air.

But then Chris said he could see the head.

On one end, that was slightly scary. She could feel it, yes, but the idea that she was actually pushing a baby out was very...frightening. On the other hand...her baby was about to enter the world, and just when she thought that she couldn't push any more, that she couldn't keep doing it, that made her push harder, a groan slipping from her lips at the intensity of it all.

"Good job, Krysi. That's the head," Chris said after a couple of more pushes. "You're doing great," he encouraged her. "Just a few more...."

He knew her labor had been long, and, like every labor, hard. But she literally was so close. Luckily, the shoulders came through without any tearing - definitely a good sign. And after that, it was just one more push, and the baby would slide right out. In all, it was one of the less complicated labors Chris had seen, which honestly was heartening.

And then the baby slid fully out, and a loud cry could be heard throughout the room....[/b]

Just keep pushing. That was all she had to do; push, and yet, it was one of the hardest things asked of her in her life. She was able to stay relatively quiet, simply because she had the habit of keeping her pain to herself (so as to give no satisfaction), but it. bloody. hurt.

And if she thought the head was bad? The shoulders were even worse. And yet, she pushed, like she was supposed to.

The instant release of pressure and stretching and pain when their baby was out caused her whole body to slump on the pillows, limp, and just catch her breath. In, and out.

Merlin, she was exhausted.

But all of a sudden, she heard, her baby. Their baby, for months, had been hearing them, and now they could hear in response. The excitement that replaced the stress, and the pain, it was so quick that her emotions probably had whiplash.

She could hear their baby.

In the instant that the loud cry filled the room, Morgan started beaming. Their baby had arrived in the world. They had their little son or daughter.

"Congratulations," Chris was saying. "It's a girl."

They had their daughter. A beautiful, tiny little baby girl. At the moment she was wet, pink and slightly wrinkled. But she was born, and she was there. With them. She could meet her parents.

When the cord was clamped, Chris offered to let Morgan cut it, and he did. Then their daughter - he couldn't stop saying it - was placed on Krysi's stomach as she was toweled off, still crying. And then she was taken away as an Acolyte helped Krysi with the afterbirth. She was given the apgar test, which Morgan had read about in the baby books they currently had lying around the house.

Chris told them she scored a seven, which was a very decent score, meaning she was healthy, and then they were all given ID bracelets so they could easily be identified as a family. They were a family.

Once their baby was swaddled, she was brought back over to them and placed into Krysi's arms.

Morgan looked down at his daughter, unable to even put into words the rush of happiness and love he felt for her in that moment. "You did it," he told Krysi, kissing her cheek. "We have our baby girl."

Krysi laid back against the pillows, eager to see their baby, but also having a hard time keeping her eyes open. She was...absolutely drained, and when the acolyte told her there was more she had to do, she nearly cried. But that was over relatively quick, and the acolyte helped her sit up and prop the pillows behind her.

Finally, their daughter was put in her arms, and Krysi looked at her, little face red and screwed up as she cried, taking in her first breaths. Already, she was trying to free her arms from the blanket, and with a...relatively wet... laugh, Krysi helped her out, watching the fist move around, slight in awe. It didn't seem to be possible to have fingernails that small.

After a few minutes, the baby's eyes opened, the cries quieting, and Krysi couldn't help her smile.

"We did it." Of course she couldn't help but think she was the prettiest little thing she'd ever seen.

Morgan was absolutely, utterly enthralled with their daughter. She was perfect. She was...beyond perfect. He just watched her tiny little hand come out of the blanket, making a little fist. And then her eyes opened as she looked up at her parents for the first time.

Beautiful eyes. Beautiful baby. They had done it. She was like a little, tiny miracle that Morgan honestly wasn't sure he knew what he had done to be blessed with.

"She's perfect," he murmured, still slightly in awe. "She's..." What other words could possibly describe her? Perfect seemed to cover it. Beautiful? Well, that was a given. A miracle - again, could quite easily be assumed.

"...nameless." Well, that was true. "What do you think? Aileana?" he tried out, looking down at their daughter.

Krysi couldn't help but laugh at herself, realizing, as their daughter opened her eyes, that she was crying. Stupid pregnancies and the hormones. But she was just...so, happy. So complete. She had Morgan at her side and the product of their love in her hands.

Her hands...

Krysi straightened up and asked, "Do you want to hold her?" Probably a stupid question, but she asked anyways, already holding their daughter out to him. He seemed just as much in thrall as she was, and she leaned up to kiss him, her voice soft as she said, "Look what we did."

Their perfect, beautiful baby girl.

"Rowan." Krysi decided. "Her eyes are the color of the sky her namesake reaches for."

Morgan nodded immediately to Krysi's question, reaching out to take his daughter, holding her for the first time. He was pretty much breathless when she was passed to him, and he cradled her in one arm, her tiny head supported in the crook of his elbow as she looked up at him with her big, blue eyes. His other hand was free, and he brought it up to her fist, touching her tiny little hand.

She seemed, for the moment, to be content with just taking in the sights around her, looking at everything in wonder as she saw her world for the very first time. He could barely bring himself to look away from her, but he did when Krysi suggested the name.

"Rowan." He tried it out, seeing how it felt to address their daughter by the name. "I love it."

He looked back down at her.

"Hi, Rowan. Do you know who I am?" he asked softly. "I'm your daddy. And your mommy is right there, and we're both so incredibly excited to finally meet you." She squirmed a little, and he held her closer, more protectively.

And then he looked up at Krysi. "She's so little,' he said, a hint of nerves in his voice. "I feel like I'm going to break her."

Krysi turned slightly on her side, an arm going under her head as she watched the father-daughter interaction. Just watching it made her smile and brush off a few tears. Men and babies were quite possibly the most heartwarming thing she'd ever get a chance to watch, and these were hers. Her husband (she still hadn't gotten over the shock of that) and her daughter. Their family.

Rowan Aileana Carter.

It was definitely a unique name, but it was one that just seemed to fit, and when Morgan started talking to her, Krysi was content to just lay there and watch.

The fact that he was worrying about breaking her made Krysi smile, and she shook her head, "She won't break." Merlin, as if he could. Just the fact that he was worrying about it proved that.

When he touched her hand, Rowan moved her fingers, wrapping them lightly around one of his own. It was amazing how incredibly tiny she was - how could hands even be that small? - and, completely and utterly in awe, he really wasn't sure how he would manage not to break her.

She seemed to be steady enough for the moment though, and content, thank Merlin. He was so nervous, and he'd heard that babies could sense that. "I hope you're right," he murmured to his wife before looking down at his daughter again.

His girls.

The simple thought made him just continue smiling. He actually didn't think that anything could make him unhappy at that moment.

"This is... the happiest day of my life. I got married and we had Rowan. It's like two for the price of one," he laughed.
