Tracking down Tigs wasn't hard for Ryan. He had been doing it as long as he cared to remember, and it fet like second nature. The difference this time? He was looking for her, because he needed her. Usually to was because he worried about her, or because he wanted to see her, or he wanted to be there for her. Ryan was distinctly aware that this was different. This time he was going to see her because he..needed her. So, he was tracking her down.

Emilie remained on the forefront of his mind. It didn't surprise him. That little baby girl was somewhere and what was his brother in law doing? Pointing a wand at him and lecturing his sister about arresting him. It was ridiculous; Ryan only wanted to bring Emilie home. Sitting at his bedside dresser was now a tiny pile. There were things he'd found in the attic: a fleece blanket with a thousand thread count, a plastic slightly chipped rattle with a bright green handle, a set of gowns sans lace and frills. There was a recent edition sitting on top. A china doll, wearing shiny Mary-Janes, a ruffled sleeve pink gown, with tight curled pigtails glued in place. Baby gifts!

He needed to see Tiger.

They were going to get Emilie back. Emilie was not going to be the third child Tigs lost. He wasn't having it; this was not going to be like the last time. Ryan was absolutely, entirely, merlindammit, determined. He wasn't failing her again. He was sick of being a heartbeat too late...or worse.

His sister's husband was a moron, but as angry as Ryan was with the "Let's stick around and bicker about right and wrong while an innocent child is in peril"--he was still reeling with his rather definite revelation. Tristan hadn't hurt his sister--he had. He was the problem. He was amazed, actually, with how stubborn Abira's bond with himself had to be. When you consider everything he'd put her through? He hated it. He hated how bloody much he'd hurt her.

He'd left the flat because he didn't want to see it fail. He was aware that somewhere along the line his sister was choosing her husband. Ryan didn't blame her. He also wasn't waiting around for that day. He wanted to hold onto it forever--at least as long as possible, that she still had some connection to him.

Yeah, he really needed to see Tiger.

"Tigs?" He called softly, while knocking on the door.

It was the French flat that Tiger went to when she really didn't want to see anyone who'd know where she lived, to be quite honest. She hadn't been to her Diagon flat other than to pack up some valuables (her books, mostly) and ship it home. To her first, flat. Her secret one. The Diagon one was really just to amuse herself. To hide, in plain sight. That one now was bloodied and she wanted nothing to do with it.

She'd stayed away from this one long enough that her land lady seemed a little shocked she was still alive - she'd kept away when she found out the D'Abugines lived there. Enough explanation there, she figured.

But the gifts had not stopped when she moved, somehow, still finding her.

Right at that current moment, Tigs was sitting in the middle of her bed, pictures spread all over the quilt. There was a book to her left, closed; she didn't want to see the last picture again. That wasn't something she needed to ever see again. She remembered quite clearly enough.

The pictures had come one by one, staging the full 37 days of life. 38 pictures, in all.

At the knock though, she was a little startled. Tigs didn't think anyone really knew where the flat was but...hell. She recognized the voice, and he'd been chasing her around long enough to know the signs.

So she jerked, grabbing all the pictures and throwing them into the picture book, tossing the whole lot of it messily under her bed; hopefully it was hidden enough, it wouldn't be a problem.

She was tucking her hair behind her ear as she all but ran to the door, peeking out the eyehole just a sec to make sure it was who she thought it was, and swung open the door.

"Ry?"

Something was wrong. There was just something about his expression that was off, and she didn't let him say anything in explanation. Not just yet. Instead, she took him by his wrist and tugged him into her flat, sitting him down before sitting on her legs in front of him, hands on his knees.

"What happened?"

Ryan had literally no resistance left in him as he was pulled into the room and sat down. He cast a cursory glance around the room, not at all surprised to notice all the vibrant colors and whites. It always amused him just slightly; the general consensus with the Aurors seemed to be that all Death Eaters lived underground or in caves, or something. Like absolutely none of them could enjoy the sun, or colors besides black and green. That was vampires, not Death Eaters. Pfft.

At her question, he bit his lip, eyebrow pre-arched with obvious long practice. He was quiet for a second, thinking. He always thought first; he usually hated moving into something without a moment to think it over. To plan it out. Except, when Tiger looked straight into his eyes and asked, Ryan found the entire story spilling out, anger and hurt evident in his voice. He started from walking into Abi's house, and didn't end until he'd probably described every last detail of his room at Martha's. It was exhausting, but the entire story was what she needed to hear.

Or at least, what he needed to tell her.

He was silent for a half second once more before finally saying,

"I don't understand it. Tristan is a bloody moron-- yes, hi, let's stand around and discuss arresting me and entirely ignore who really needs help-- but it wasn't...he wasn't the one that hurt Abi, I was, Tigs. I was. I...tried to help her, and I've messed up in ways I could never fix. There isn't a way to fix them. And when she ...sees me, when she looks at me, she can't even understand what it is going on. Why we could possibly still love each other, despite having spent sixteen years in the same house, fighting the same person, taking care of each other-- she can't take that in for longer than a minute. It..it bloody hurts her, to care about me, Tiger. It hurts her- and I can't stand hurting her."

He wasn't sure where he was going with it, he wasn't sure where he was going with any of it. He buried his head in his hands for a second, which were propped up on Tiger's knees, since his own had her hands on them.

He sat like that, for a second, and then shook his head, aware that her hair was basically brushing over his shoulder at the gesture and not caring at all. Finally he added,

"I'm sick of it. All of it. This..is not going to be like last time. It's not going to happen again. I will find her, Tiger, and whatever the hell her husband says, Abi-- is going to help."

The problem with this was that Tiger didn't even proclaim to want Emilie back or care about her. Ryan was just ignoring that; she could be angry, she could yell and shout, but Ryan...Ryan of all people knew how much that had to be hurting her.

It wasn't..entirely hard, listening to the story. She'd almost drawn back from him, her eyes flashing to her bedroom for the moment. But when she heard about him going to Abi, and Tris walking in, her eyes were flashing for a completely new reason, before going once again, unreadable.

She wanted to be angry for him putting himself in danger, but that anger was lost in the emotions being emitted because of Emilie. If she let herself show any emotion, she was going to lose the point of this visit. Him, coming to her, and when he bent over, she just started rubbing his back softly, just listening.

Emilie...It was a sudden pang, that Tigs realized that maybe he wasn't trying so hard to save Emilie for her, but for him too. Maybe. She didn't speak on it though, and instead, addressed the commentary about Abi.

"Maybe you did hurt her, by doing what she considered bad?" Her voice was a bit fiercer than she had intended, but oh well, "But your intentions were good. You were trying to take care of her in the only way you could, and she's done a helluva job hurting you in worse ways. You may love your sister? But from my eyes she's just as much of a heartless bitch as I seem in theirs."

She ignored the part about Abi helping Emilie, because honestly, who wouldn't want to save a newborn? It was basically their job, and Tigs didn't want to think anymore on it. But right now, right this second? His beloved sister, the one he seemed to love more than anyone, was hurting him. While he felt horrible for hurting her. And Tigs firmly believed in the power of a good wakeup call.

She would visit Abi.

But for now, she had something else to address. Just to show she was, paying attention to all of his speech instead of parts of it, she spoke quietly, "If it's too late you can't blame yourself Ryan. Deatheaters shouldn't get pregnant. Tristan was probably right, and I was just setting myself up for something to happen. But just like last time? You cannot blame yourself. I will not let you."

Her hands cupped his face, and she made him look at her, practically glaring. "Do you understand me?"

Ryan's immediate instinct was to rise to his sister's defense. Then a half second later he'd rethought that on the basis that, well, it really never worked well to argue with Tiger, and the last thing he needed right now was another argument. Particularly with her, as ..well then he'd literally have nowhere else to go. So he simply closed his eyes for a second to take a breath, and then opened them to find that she was holding his cheeks. After a second--it took him a second to get used to how close she was still--he nodded.

He did understand.

And then something completely unrelated spilled out of his mouth --"Are you...blonde?"

Wow, he was observant, wasn't he? He pulled back in surprise, taking one hand to curl a piece of her apparently blonde hair around his finger tip and arched an eyebrow. All right. When had that happened?

What else had he missed? He was smiling slightly as he looked around and realized that there was a tight-leather-possibly-ripped-to-pieces outfit hanging up on the back of the door. Having absolutely no idea what that was for, Ryan simply shook his head, surprisingly cheered up.

"And what..."

Damn that thing was little. He tried not to give a low whistle--tried not to think about what it would look like on Tiger. That was usually a path of thought he didn't let himself think about with her. For...well, obvious reasons.

When Ryan nodded, Tigs let out a sigh she hadn't known she'd been holding, and then let go of him again. That was, until he noticed her hair, and she glanced at the curl around his fingertip, blinking at the sudden change of subject. He didn't want to talk about it - okay. She could deal with that.

"Yes, I'm blonde. I heard they had more fun." Tigs smirked a little bit, not really giving an answer, but responding all the same. Blonde, she didn't mind so much. Brunette, was her normal. Anything else looked strange, and she didn't really like it. But she'd never gone total-honey-and-highlights as she did now. Blue eyes and blonde hair. How typical ... and not her identifying features. Amazing how a little dye could do that?

But then he caught glance of her costume, and she got up, holding it on the hanger against her.

"Well I already was the playboy bunny. Can't be repetitive." She tsked, like that would be the worst idea in the world. "So I'm being a bad kitty." The mask she pulled out from behind the costume where it'd been hanging, and grinned.

"There's a campaign costume party at the Cascades tonight. Ministry run. I figured it'd be a nice change from the Den, or London's clubs, and I was about to get ready when you showed up."

"I'm sure you already have the most fun." Ryan's remark was out of his mouth before he'd thought about it; the same with his smirk. Oh dear, this was bad. That costume...

He was trying to distract himself yes, but he wasn't supposed to be distracting himself by thinking about that. Or, this. He simply decided to let it go, arching his eyebrow at the remark about a campaign party and realized--he'd known about that. Marcus was stepping down or something and..well, something.

Ryan had much more important things on his mind than politics. So he stood up as well, crossed his arms on his chest, realizing he...wanted to go with her. He didn't really want to leave her sight, or vice versa. Bottom line was though, he'd need a costume.

So after biting his lip in thought, Ryan asked easily,

"You wouldn't happen to have another costume?"

"Not lately." Tigs muttered, taking the costume off the hanger and folding it over her arm. His smirk was a nice change though, from the last time she'd seen him. With another pang, and a pause, she sought to remember that moment, and started frowning. There was a reason, she had gone to Fido. Because Fido had held her hand when she needed it and Ryan looked like he was trying not to touch her, the whole time.

Confusion was an irksome feeling, but she knew he had let her touch him now, right? So it really made no sense.

And it was really just that which made his next question be met with a coldly raised eyebrow and a simple, "Are you going to let me dress you?"

Tigs had... a number of costumes. But she wasn't just about to let him wear anything typical, and she just didn't know how far he'd let her go. She was stretching her boundaries...

Probably as confused by the sudden coldness as she had been by the sudden change of subject in his own, Ryan simply put his hands behind his back and braced himself to wait. With a small smile, he shook his head and said easily,

"Well in a manner of speaking I suppose." There was a pause, and deciding that he probably couldn't fight the thoughts forever he slipped,

"Of course, dressing is never as fun as undressing in my opinion."

Merlindammit. Ryan honestly? Was trying too hard to distract himself. Trying to hard to not think again, to shut off how hurt he was, and how hurt he'd watched his sister be. And he was doing it too well, because these remarks were literally the opposite of subtle, and calm.

Despite it having no ties and no connections, Tigs was struck by his flirty comment, and for a minute, she just stared at him. Watched him, or like. Things had changed, so, damn much, and it was almost overwhelming. It was overwhelming to see this man on her couch, trying to do as she always did with his own emotions, and truth be told, she was slightly frightened by it. Things didn't end well, and the easy conversation, banter, it was just starting to come back. Just a little bit.

And yet, that was all going to be lost. It was all, going to be lost again. Because things were happening to her that really didn't involve him, and he was off starting a life with some girl. He had, a son. She was losing it all over again.

Snapping out of it and shaking her head, the easy smile was back on her lips, though it didn't quite reach her eyes, and she walked over to one of the closets in her living room. What? Sometimes she had the urge to play dress up...

Passing through things that typically had tights and capes and anything that would probably be there, knowing the aurors and given the halloween costumes from the previous party...

And pulled out a gladiator's costume, her smile brightening in honest glee as she turned around and showed him.

"What do you think?"

Ryan caught the look for a moment and nodded back quietly. He remembered. It was all there; he just didn't need to think about it, so he didn't.He didn't need to ask what she was thinking about, and a part of him didn't want to have it clarified. So not a word left his lips as he played with one of the cushions on the couch and followed her a moment later. He stood leaning against the wall in surprise at the multitudes of costumes and then...blinked as she pulled one out.

What did he think? That was very...metal.

"I think I don't have any shorts." He pointed out with a laugh. He didn't mind that the chest was bare persay, and the helmet would do a good job covering up any distinguishing marks. He wasn't entirely sure what to do about covering up the Dark Mark, but he assumed Tiger had a plan for hers already so he could just go along with that one.

Tigs was a little...not ashamed, but silenced, by the fact he'd understood her thought process while she looked at him, and she just stood up a bit straighter, trying to ignore it. Just, ignore it all. She was a little surprised to find him behind her when she'd finally picked one, but she covered it up well enough.

With a grin, of course. She held the costume up to herself and ran her fingers over the tunic part, before holding it up to him. Well, as well as she could. He was a bit taller than she could feasibly reach while her feet were flat on the floor.

His comment though just made her eyebrow go up slowly, and she said deliberately, "So don't wear any."

Ryan usually would have fought that; it was bound to be uncomfortable, particularly if he was around her wearing that all night, but he realized a moment later..he might have to get used to this again. Lose it again, accept it again. It was starting all over, wasn't it? Bloody hell, this time it was going to be different.

So, he took the gladiator ...for lack of a better word, "costume", smirked, and had scooted off to change.

He simply left the clothes there, figuring they'd be back in that flat before line, actually talking things over. For the moment however, they both were content with forgetting. Forgetting it all.

Erm, he hadn't really thought this metal-skirt-thing, through, had he? Ryan came out of the bathroom with a bare chest, a half-covered mask as well, but that wasn't going to be the problem. The combat boots were the best though.Laced all the way up, they still were basically nothing but sandals and string.

Hell, this evening was going to be interesting.

Tigs was instantly surprised when he actually agreed to wear the costume - because it wasn't just leather and plastic, it was a legit remake of a gladiator costume - and she went into her own bedroom to put hers on. It took a few minutes to figure out how all the buttons worked, and another minute to realize wearing a bra with it was not going to work, and then a few more after that to arrange her hair and glamour a few things.

She was about to hide the latest healing wounds, thinking they were a little too distinctive, but then she realized she honestly didn't give a shit. If someone realized, and started a fight, well, that would be better than sitting at home and thinking, now would it?

She did manage to nullify her darkmark though, adding a few more tattoos. Just a few, most of them at this point were her own.

A blown kiss at the mirror and she was walking out, calling, "Are you readddddy yet? I'll glamour away your tat if you want me to?"

Gladiators didn't have tattoos, of course.

Ryan was slightly staring at himself in the mirror. This wasn't at all light to wear, and it was..well awkward in several places that he was supposed to not be thinking about. Maybe he could think of this as an incentive to .. not think that way. It wasn't working marvelously though; he stared at her for a second and then looked away sheepishly as she came out.

There were a few more tattoos on her, weren't they? He didn't honestly know which were real and which were fake, but he decided to forgo it and simply say, "Thanks." Oh. Well at least it didn't involve make up or something.

Merlin his head was all over the place, wasn't it?

And then he smiled a bit while she did that, and both of them disapparated for the party, together.

Ryan's plan of using the ridiculous, metal skirt to discourage certain thoughts based on Tiger's apparel, was..really not working.

Tigs apparated Malius right into her flat, glancing around to make sure everything was still in place. It had been a long, long while since she'd been there. Since before her babies, actually. Luckily, everything was clean, and nothing was stolen, still in good condition. She made him sit down in her big chair, and then promised she'd be right back.

Ten minutes later, Tigs was back into the flat, raising wards, locking the door. Her daughter was on her hip, several bags of ingredients in her free hand (gotta love Martha). Somehow the woman had known that Tigs needed to cook the food herself. Trust was an issue.

She'd changed out of the wench costume at Martha's and grabbed the outfits she wore the most, her wand shrinking them into one of the bags. She was still a little bloody, but at least she wasn't wearing that corset and skirt anymore.

Arriving back at the flat, she checked that Malius was still awake, lucid, and talking to her, and then placed Emilie in his lap. Babies were therapy, and whereas she might have been able to carry Millie around while cooking, she figured that it would serve two purposes; he could meet her daughter, and she could give him something to focus on. "This is Emilie. Millie, if you want. Millie sweetie, this is Mally."

She waited a second, but her daughter hadn't started speaking yet, so at the baby's wide-mouthed smile, she just dropped a soft kiss onto the shock of black hair and walked into the adjoining kitchen area. The flat was simple, so there was no wall, no door between them, so Malius could see her and what she was doing, and she could keep an eye on them.

After washing her hands, Tigs started pulling things out to cut, clean, and cook.

Malius ordinarily didn't thank much of anyone for anything and yet in this case he was under the assumption he couldn't thank her enough. It was a little disorienting at first to be somewhere else that wasn't the cramped little cell after so long, but after a few moments he had adjusted. He sat up in the chair a bit straighter and nodded, rather slowly this time, when she said she'd be back. He wondered just how much he had missed since he had been 'gone, and what Daphne must have thought by then. He assumed Callum would have helped her if she wanted to find him even if Cal didn't care as much; They just didn't get along.

Malius was pulled away from thinking about any of that as Tiger returned with Emilie on her hip and his smile was back. When she was placed on his lap he held her as he should, and glanced up when Tiger gave an introduction only to look at Emilie again.

"Hey there," he greeted, his tone considerably softer when he talked to her. "You look just like your mum you know. I'm glad I could meet you."

He looked up when he heard Tiger taking things out of cabinets then.

"Someone should just call you wonder woman," he joked.

Tigs gad been taking things out, but her eyes had been subtly on Malius to see how he'd react to having a baby on his lap, but he was just fine. He moved to hold her, and his softened manner just made her smile, turning back to what she was doing. The fact that he told Emilie that she looked just like Tigs made her...relax, a little bit. Calm down further, and really just be able to focus on the food she was making without beating the hell out of it.

Tigs didn't have Emilie the last time she'd fallen off the edge. It was amazing how much a baby around could help.

Emilie may not be able to speak yet, but she was responding in other ways; ever curious, she was reaching out to touch his face, her tiny fists wrapping around whatever she could reach, random, garbled coos and gurgles leaving her mouth. Social, without even being able to be.

After forking and seasoning the steak, Tigs put it in her oven to broil. Some protein, she figured, would be necessary. The potatoes she added just a few minutes later were carbs, more to fill him up than to give any nutrition. A thing of corn went on the stove, boiled instead of microwaved. She wasn't sure what he would eat, but she had a little bit of everything.

"Wonder woman?" Tigs smiled, "Just a worried friend."

Malius was making faces to entertain Emilie and didn't do anything to move her hands away. She wasn't doing any harm. It was cute actually. As she talked in her own way he composed a expression that suggested he was intently listening as if it were a conversation. Funny how easily having Emilie right there made him feel better and distract him. It was a good thing.

"A friend I'm glad to have," Malius told Tiger, not looking away from Emilie as she grabbed his nose and then went to touch his chin. Joking to Emilie however, "Are you going to be just as fierce as your mummy? Hm? Yes? I thought so."

He took her coo's as answer all its own and he was smiling.

Tigs' smile widened when she heard her baby's laugh. Looking over, she found Malius making faces, and she had to bite her lip not to laugh herself, turning back to what she was doing. All the food groups; grains/carbs, meat, dairy, veggies, and fruits. If he hadn't been fed properly for a month, things could get dangerous. Malnutrition was dangerous. She knew.

It was part of the reason why she knew how to do this.

"Good coz you're stuck with me." She mumbled, grabbing a thing of crackers. She wanted to make sure he could eat a proper meal though, so she walked back over to him and sat on the very edge of the chair's arm. "I want you to eat a few of these? Just see how they sit. Your stomach might reject food at first and I don't want to make you sick..."

At the mention of Emilie being as fierce as Tigs was - keeping Emilie preoccupied and all the while complimenting her - Tigs did laugh. "That would be a handful..."
