False labour. Right. That happened and it'd be fine once it was taken care of. At least that's what she thought till he asked the last question. That...but she hadn't even thought about that. She hadn't even took the time to consider that was what happened. She had been too busy trying to figure out what to do.

"Is Aiden going to be okay?" Jen asked as she sat down on the wheelchair; that in itself holding the answer to the question.

Waiting for a answer was horrible and she hated hospitals to begin so once she was to a room and situated on the bed, she realized how serious of a sitiuation she was no doubt in. Contractions. That was what the pain was and it finally dawned on her enough to be scared. This wasn't supposed to happen.

Carter set up the stirrups for her to put her feet in. He was going to check and make sure she wasn't dilated. Carter was almost sure this was false contractions, but it never hurt to check to make sure he wasn't wrong before she got a potion to stop the contractions.

He set up a light and turned it on before he put gloved on to check Jentry out. The plug was gone, and she was already 4 cm dilated. Carter's eyes widened in shock. "Jentry, we're going to be keeping you here. Aiden will be okay..." he hoped. "But we're going to have to deliver him." He told her calmly.

He wheeled his stool back and let her put her feet down before he took off his gloves and shut off the light. "I just have to go and inform the NICU that there'll be a new arrival to prepare for." He left for only a few minutes before returning.

Jen was all for keeping calm and keeping in mind that would help but freaking out seemed like an ideal reaction too. She put her hands over her face as Carter checked whatever he had to despite her being uncomfortable with it. Not like she had a choice. The reassurances that Aiden would be okay were only a slight help, but she had to stay in the hospital? That was gone the second his last words registered.

"Deliver him? But...but he shouldn't be...it's too soon."

Had she done something wrong? Something that caused this? Honestly she thought she had. She was to blame and if Aiden didn't make it....merlin she didn't want to think about that. Jen grabbed the sheet with at least one hand for now as the pain came back.

"Just...please help him."

Carter sighed as he came back with a dopplar and the ultrasound machine. "Do you want any medication to make this easier?" He asked as he strapped the dopplar on and found a thankfully strong heartbeat. He moved and checked Aiden with the ultrasound.

"Well He's healthy, Jentry." Carter said, trying to be positive.

Jen had always heard that medication wasn't always the best thing to do. Weren't that stories of issues with some people who took it? She wasn't sure she wanted to chance that.

"No," she answered.

The fact Aiden was okay at this point made her feel at least a little bit better. He had made it this far and she was sure he would make it the rest of the way.

"I still feel like I did this. That...I did something wrong."

For all she knew Carter didn't give a crap. He was just the healer right? But she had no one else to talk to considering Conner wasn't there and...well she wasn't even sure what to assume about Matthew.

Carter looked at her and tried to smile. "Should I have one of the nurses alert any family? The father?" He wanted this to be easy on her and if she had someone it'd help her.

He watched as one machine started to spike. "Prepare yourself for another contraction." He said and he'd check her dilation again as he pulled the stiffups out again to check her dilation. "Almost at five."

Matthew had run into Asher watching the twins over at Travieso. When he asked where Jen was, he was informed that she was actually in labor.

Matthew had spent a little bit of time at Travieso wondering what he should do. He wanted to go see her and make sure she was all right. But going out in public was hardly ever an option for him. What if he was spotted?

Well he'd have to just deal with it and get out if he saw an Auror. As it was? He was going to go support Jen. He had heart it might be false labor, and if she was having her baby that early, that... well, it wasn't good. He knew enough to know that. Sure, his specialty was potions, but that didn't mean he didn't know a thing or two about... common sense, really.

Babies couldn't survive if born that early.

He was directed to the room by a rude receptionist who, luckily, didn't recognize him and came into the room, seeing Jen with a Healer he didn't know.

"Jen, are you all right?" he asked, standing tentatively in the doorway. He wasn't really sure what he should be doing. "I didn't know if you... wanted someone with you or not..."

Jen actually had to think if she wanted to bother Conner with this. It wasn't...well that wasn't the right way to phrase it but she hadn't talked to him in a while and him being there just felt off. She wasn't entirely why and she was pretty sure he was gone somewhere anyways.

Still before she could get out a answer she heard probably the most unexpected voice. For a moment she wasn't sure if he was really there or if she was letting things get to her head, but really she knew he was there. It was a shock. Jen hadn't thought to ask him to be there or anything and now he was standing there asking if she was alright. It dawned on her too that he was out in public which she hadn't expected him to do for a long while. It didn't even matter how he knew to find her, just that he did.

"As good as can be expected," she said, then holding out her hand in silent asking if he'd hold her hand; that was answer enough for the latter statement.

As Carter warned her about another contraction she prepared herself as much as she could and didn't even attempt not to cry out that time. As if it mattered how bad she looked or anything right now.

"Would you like to give you two time?" as he pulled away and discarded the gloves. He knew who Jentry's friend was, but he'd give them a few minutes before he alerted the Aurors. A companion was always important in the birthing process.

It'd be a while yet until Jentry gave birth so maybe they wanted to be alone until that time.

Without thinking, Matthew headed into the room and took her outstretched hand. He was still nervous as hell that someone would recognize him and rat him out to the Aurors. Just being outside of Travieso - or wherever he happened to be staying - always scared him. The hospital was enough to induce a panic attack. But he was going to focus on being there for Jen.

"What's...exactly... going on?" he asked, concern evident in his voice.

He nearly jumped when the Healer spoke to him, his nerves getting the best of him. But he forced himself to focus and remain calm. "Some time would be good," he said automatically, just wanting the man out. People he didn't know for certain he could trust - and that, unfortunately, meant most people - made him nervous.

But he didn't know if Jen wanted the Healer there, so he turned back to her and amended his statement. "That is, unless you want him to stay?"

It was a good thing the pain was gone for the moment since as soon as Matthew took her hand she couldn't help but smile. Even if it could be short lived she still did it because he was there. Merlin that meant the world right then. It was the fact too that he was out in public where anyone could see him but there he was. As Matthew asked what was going on though, Jen sighed and lost the smile right then.

"I don't know exactly," she said. "But...looks like Aiden's not exactly wanting to wait."

At least she had some humor to try at a lighter comment. Still it didn't work that well. She shook her head though as Matthew asked about the healer. Honestly she was more relaxed with Matthew there and not just some stranger because that's who the healer was. It bothered her.

She waited till Carter left and then looked at Matthew again.

"Thanks for coming. I mean...I don't know how you found me but I'm really glad you did." Pausing she then added, "I didn't expect that you'd want to be here. I underestimated you for sure." That at least got a grin out of her.

"Impatient then," Matthew remarked, trying to keep the conversation light-hearted if that was what she wanted. "Is this a trait he gets from his mother, then?"

He was extremely relieved when the Healer left the room, and that was when Jen seemed to get a little more serious. She honestly probably hadn't been comfortable speaking in front of the Healer, which he completely understood. Or maybe that was just him projecting his own feelings onto her. Who knew?

"Asher told me where to find you," he explained. "And of course I came," he said with a smile. "So now you know not to underestimate me again. But... I do want to be here. I don't know if I can be of any help at all, but I'm glad I'm here."

"For sure," Jen responded.

Well she was the stubborn one but she had her times of impatience. With the healer gone she at least felt a little bit better and, even though she knew she kept going back to the fact, Matthew was holding her hand. It still surprised her. Like she had even said--she had underestimated him. She definately wouldn't do that again.

"Good thing for Asher," she noted, then continuing with the smile back on her face. "You just being here helps."

"Well, at least I can do something to help," he said. "Can I get you anything? Water, or... I honestly have no idea what you'd need," he laughed slightly.

At least he was there for her, and that's what counted. He just wished there was something he could do. There wasn't much he could physically do other than sit with her and hold her hand, so he figured that maybe talking to her would help a little bit. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm good."

Honestly she just didn't want him to be roaming the halls and get caught. Not like she could do much in her position to stop a person, but there was always something to throw. Maybe she was getting way ahead of herself over worrying about it, but the risk was there so of course she did.

"Well right now with the pain being gone I'm okay. However long that's going to last," Jen answered. "I just want Aiden to be okay."

"He will be," Matthew replied, trying to reassure her that it was all going to be all right. He wished he could be 100% sure of that, but what was he going to say: 'Well, I'm actually not sure if he will be'? No, definitely not. That would be a really really bad idea.

"And I'll be with you the whole time," he assured her. "What did the Healer say?"

Jen nodded and really that was what she had been telling herself pretty much the entire time, but to hear it from someone else--someone who wasn't some stranger--made it a bit easier to actually believe.

"Thanks," she said, meaning it completely. As far as what the healer said? She realized she had been in such a panic that she hadn't exactly listened completely. "When I came in he thought it was just false labour because I'm only twenty-eight weeks, but my water broke before I got here so it wasn't that. I hadn't even paid attention to that or thought about it till he asked me."

The worst part she simply paused before going on.

"He said he's going to have to deliver Aiden. It's just...he's going to be so tiny. How is he supposed to...it just doesn't seem right. I don't get how this even could have happened."

Twenty-eight weeks. Weren't pregnancies supposed to last thirty-eight or forty weeks? Or something? Matthew honestly wasn't sure, but he knew twenty-eight weeks was really early.

"I mean, I don't know much about babies, but I'm pretty sure there's all sorts of technology these days that allow babies to live earlier and earlier," he said. "So I think he's got really good chances. And the Healers are going to do everything they can to make sure he's ok." If they didn't, Matthew would kill them. He didn't know if he meant that figuratively or literally.

"Everything will be fine."

Carter came back a while later and he was in a set of scrubs in order to deliver the baby. "So are we ready?" He asked before two nurses from the NICU came into the room with an incubator and got ready for the transport of the hopefully strong baby.

As he had done before he checked Jentry's dilation and she was just about ready for birth, they just needed a contraction now in order to start pushing. "Fully dilated and ready to push on the next contraction. When it comes on, I want you to push down as har as you can for ten seconds, breathe out, take a deep breath in and push down again. We'll keep doing that until I tell you to stop." He told her, trying to be cheery.

"Thank you."

How many times was she going to say it? But she meant it. She was glad he was there despite all the risks involved. When Carter came back into the room the fear was back. She wanted this to just be over and for Aiden to be okay. How was that a lot to ask for?

Jen simply listened to his instructions and it wasn't like she could prepare herself all that much for it. When the contraction did come she squeezed Matthew's hand and pushed as hard as she could and tried to count the seconds in her head. It was a lot harder than she had assumed and stopped when she knew she couldn't anymore. Remembering what she had been told to do, Jen tried yet again.
