Edward was sitting by an old looking table, looking at some papers. So stupid. Since Elisabeth came back they started to spend much more money than he used to when he was alone. And now with the wedding coming up... yeah, he had to figure something out before they became homeless. Thank Merlin that Monica was going to leave the house - the three of them would be a bigger problem.

He drummed his fingers against the table. Well, yeah, they wouldn`t be homeless, There were many ways to get money and he was sure he could, but... they never had trouble with that before, how could it have happened?

Elisabeth stopped by the door. She knew she should just turn around and let it be. That was what she had always done. She`d always let Edward do what he wanted and she would never disagree. So why this had to be different? She wanted the damn marriage! So why did it feel somehow wrong?

Exhaling angrily she knocked on the door and pushign the handle walked in. The second she stepped in, she could say that he wasn`t in his best moods. But she was so nervous about it all, she couldn`t stop herself. "She can`t." she only said, staring at him.

"She can`t, she won`t, and I really don`t think it`s a good idea. There must be something else." after a moment she added.

Edward picked up his eyes from the paper and looked at his wife. She looked nervous. And he didn`t like that. Most of the time she was absent and just simply decent. Nervous... it meant that something was up and he hated the very thought of it.

Although when she spoke he only blinked. Then shook his head a bit, trying to figure out what the hell she was talking about. Holding up his hand he showed her to stop talking and then took a deep breath. "What?" he asked staring back at her.

"Monica." Elisabeth said, walking forward and putting her hands on the back of a chair. If she wasn`t so nervous she`d have realized that she was gripping it so hard that her nails almost went through the fabric. "She won`t do it. She can`t do it." she said.

"She won`t be able to be the 'proper wife'." she added, keeping her voice calm.

Edward raised his eyebrows at his wife. Was she having second thoughts about all this? Because he had already talked about it with her - in the kitchen - and he thought that she figured out where he was standing. "Don`t you think it`s a bit too late for that now...?" he asked.

"She is going to get married to Ralston." he spoke calmly. "If she wouldn`t... where would she go? No one else would take her and he`d be a perfect husband for a wreck that she is." he said it all, his voice indifferent.

Elisabeth shook her head. "You don`t care at all, do you?" she asked, still trying so hard to keep calm. She hated how perfect Edward could do it. He always acted calm. She knew he wasn`t, but he wouldn`t show his feelings for most of the time. Why she couldn`t??

"It`s going to ruin her life!" she said, her voice slightly louder now. "He`s too old for her. That is the problem! I don`t even think he... he can have sex. For muddy galeons, Edward! Just listen to yourself! This is insane!" she cried out, not being able to hold it inside any longer.

"There must be a way! If she gets married it will kill her! She can`t even think about it, how do you think it would work out for them?! She`s... she`s crying even while thinking about it!"

"She had always been a wuss!" Edward spat out, jumping up. He wasn`t expecting that Elisabeth would do this. He really thought that she`d just keep silent, like she always used to. This threw him off a bit. But then anger came through and he didn`t even realize that this was Elisabeth

"There is nothing to do to change it!" he said, his voice ice cold and angry. "You know she can`t stay here either! Do you want her in love with a Blood traitor and having a MUGGLE daughter, for crying out loud!" he yelled the last word out, hitting his hand on the table.

"She will get married and Ralston will make a woman from her. Because now she`s a damn baby who doesn`t know that this is only good for her." he finished angrily before glaring at his wife and then sitting back down.

Malius used his owl considering any other one probably wouldn't be recognized. It wasn't given any real specific instructions except to find Monica and get the note to her as soon as possible. As it went into the study it dropped the note and then left again.

Monica,

Whatever you hear from anyone I'm not dead. In order to get anything done I had to fake my death, which worked better than I would have ever guessed. I'm staying at Morvanna Manor for now, and Elena's safe. She's been asking where you are.

Malius.

Elisabeth narrowed her eyes. "There are more things than pride, Edward." She said silently. Of course, that was one thing she would have done anything for but... it was her child, her baby! How could she just ignore Monica`s tears (even if she was trying so hard)?

"Can`t you just go to Ralston and say that the deal is off?" she asked, trying to keep her voice as calm as possible. "She needs a man. She doesn`t need a father that she would be sleeping with." she repeated.

"I think you are going to make a huge mistake by this. It`s Monica. And as much as I know.. it never had worked to keep her under your wing, had it? She already started to remember things. Ralston won`t be able to keep her and that will just end in a disaster." she threatened. Her eyes followed the owl that flied in and she frowned more.

Edward barely listened to his wife as he noticed the owl. Every owl that was coming to their home had to go through Edward first - except if it was from Ralston. And now he wondered who was sending the letter. Reaching for it he opened it and his eyes got stuck on the name of Monica. This wasn`t from Ralston. Maybe her blood traitor guy?

And yet as his eyes ran through the lines, it didn`t make sense. Why would the blood traitor guy have to fake his death? And his name was Conner, not Malius. Edward tensed up. How many men named Malius was there? At least he could only think of one.

But that was plain stupid, wasn`t it? A man like Malius Raziel would never have to do anything with Monica. And... well, this didn`t make sense and if it would have made sense, it would only make more problems. Swallowing he folded the note and kept it between his fingers. There was a deal between him and Ralston and no matter what... he wasn`t going to break it.

"Yeah, what ever..." he murmured as an answer to his wife, his mind still on the letter. Could it be that Malius? Because if it was... well, it couldn`t matter. Monica was going to get married and Raziel would never ever have to do anything with someone like her.

Elisabeth hated the fact that he ignored her. He looked really concerned about the letter and she was curious. "You know, Edward, you could listen to me at least. I don`t want that wedding. Anyone else, but why him?" she spoke, hoping that he would hear this at least.

"Ralston won`t be able to keep her. It will kill her eventually. I don`t want that happening to my daughter." her voice shivered slightly, but she ignored it. And he still was interested in the note.

She walked around the table to his chair and stopped in front of him. "What is the letter about?"

Hearing her speaking close to him, Edward quickly slipped the letter into his pocket. What Monica doesn`t know can`t hurt her. Whoever this Malius was, now there was no place for him left. Whoever Elena was, she was out of the game as well. It was going to be Ralston. Because they have made a deal and Edward wasn`t one of those who would break it.

"It`s not important." he said. He knew that if Elisabeth knew she`d tried to put the wedding away. But if he made her believe that there was no one who would take their daughter, he was sure that it would work. "Look, the wedding is going to happen. And the worst thing which will happen is that Monica will cry about it. But she cries about everything so why should it matter?" he asked, angrily. Now Malius issue was in his head and he couldn`t get it out. He stood up and looked down at her.

"As far as I`m concerned... you need to make sure that the wedding will be proper. That`s all."

Elisabeth clenched her teeth. He wouldn`t listen, would he? No, of course, Edward always had to be right. No one could disagree with him. Especially not her. But the very thought made her angry. She used to be so different before she got married. She didn`t want the same thing happening for Monica.

"Sometimes I think I`ve made a huge mistake." she murmured, just out of anger. She knew she should have kept her mouth shut. She knew that this will turn out bad. But she was too angry on him. She wanted him to be hurt, just like she was that moment. "I should have stayed with Johnathan." she said coldly.

It was a reflex, really. Edward couldn`t stop the damn anger from rushing through him. It was like he was set on fire - every muscle in his body tensed up and he couldn`t breathe. Elisabeth... how could she say that? How could she, knowing how it affected him? And so it was a reflex that he had formed while beating Monica. He slapped her.

And the very next second he realized what he had done. To Elisabeth.

His heart dropped to his stomach and his eyes went wide. He had never hit her. He had never yelled on her. The very thought of hurting her was sickening to him. So how could he? Quickly putting his hands around her he stared at the wall in front of him. "I`m sorry... I`m... I`m sorry..." he murmured. This wasn`t him... he would never hurt Elisabeth.

Elisabeth was expecting anything, but that. No one had ever hit her. No one dared to, seeing as she always had been with Johnathan and he always kept her safe. And then Edward and... he just hit her and she was thrown off. He just hit her. And it hurt. And she never wanted to feel that feeling of humilation again. She felt even less than a cockroach. She felt like the most filthy thing on the planet. And only because of that slap.

She was scared that he`d do something like that again as he walked to her, but he only apologized and hugged her. And she still felt horrible. And she was sure about one thing - she`d never try to argue again. Not even her daughter was worth that feeling. So long Edward had never done anything... like that to her before. She didn`t know.

Edward kept her close to him, now staying silent. He stopped controlling himself. But... there were too many things that annoyed him. The wedding was going to happen even if that letter was sent by Malius Raziel. But it couldn`t be. Monica was with that Conner guy. Maybe Malius was actually a girl? Some friend of Monica`s? He hoped.

And even if it wasn`t, he had nothing to do. He wouldn`t break the deal with Ralston. Besides, to him Monica`s well being didn`t matter. He just wanted that she`d marry a Pureblood man and then he would get all the responsibility of her. So now, it didn`t matter that Elisabeth didn`t want the wedding - it was gonna happen.

He pulled her back a little bit, just so that he could look at her face. "Go take a hot bath and relax. Then we will talk about all this wedding thing, okay?" he asked, wondering what was going on in her head. She was probably angry on him. Oh well...

Elisabeth wasn`t angry. She was... scared? Because she didn`t want to feel that feeling again. It was horrible. And she knew that she`d do anything to avoid that again. She just stood close to Edward, feeling good about one thing - he wasn`t going to do that again anytime soon. But she knew his temper and that was why she decided not to toy with it again - even her daughter wasn`t worth that.

At his suggestion she nodded. Oh no, she wasn`t going to bring that conversation up again, but hot bath sounded amazing. Bending her head down she got out of his hands softly and moved to the door. Then silently walked out.
