Emma ground her teeth and did as Chris instructed, pushing hard and trying as best she could to hold it there for a full ten seconds. I was so difficult, the pain and the strain of pushing. She counted silently in her head but found the strain too hard... "Seven, eight, nine ten!" she panted out relaxing ahead of time. "I'm sorry, I just couldnt. You try passing something the size of a watermelon!"

Emma bit her lip as the next contraction loomed, this one and shifted ready to bear down for the next push. She let out a strain cry of pain as she tried to push and hold it, his time succeeding the full ten seconds but it was a strain and tiring her out. "How much longer?"

"Don't worry about it," Chris said as she rushed the count. "You're doing great." He honestly didn't know how women dealt with childbirth. He knew he'd never be able to do it, so he was kind of grateful that he didn't have to.

Checking her progress, he said, "I can see the baby's head. You're almost there. Maybe another twenty minutes, but every woman's different," he said, not wanting to get her hopes up, just in case.

Emma took Chris's encouragement on board and attempted a weak smile, which became stronger at the mention of the baby's head being visible. "You can see the head? He can see the head!" Emma repeated, squeezing Kevin's hand and smiling a him. "Any hair?" she found herself asking, despite it probably being one of the strangest questions giving the current situation but it was something to focus on.

Knowing that the baby was in view and so was the end of the labour, gave Emma some extra motivation, despite hearing that it could be anothe twenty mintues until then. "Okay little one, Mommy's going to have you out in no time."

By then, Dea was smiling. As much as Emma was distracted because she was in pain, and Kev was probably focusing on not losing his hand, and Chris was focused on the actual delivery, Dea was only doing odds and ends every once in a while. And it was absolutely amazing, honestly. Painful, from the yelling and the other comments, but amazing.

"e's beautiful." She told the woman, Emma, she thought it was, softly.

[[ooc-lol, didn't know if it was a boy//girl, but dislike using 'it', so... xD "e" xD, I can add one or two letter later]]

Knowing that the baby was in sight, was a relief to say the least. Emma was exhausted and no doubt looked a messed, her hair a tangled matted mess, loos tendrils clinging to her damp forhead, beaded with sweat from the strain of labour. Labour was many things, hard work, painful, a miracle but one thing it most certainly was not, was pretty.

At this moment in time, Emma couldn't really care less what she looked like, all her attention was set on delievering her child... pushing... lots of pushing. Feeling the next contraction, Emma shifted furhter back against her pillows and bore down again, letting out another strangled cry as she felt the baby shift slightly. It would take a few more pushes and exhausted as she was she doubted she had the energy.

The contraction passing, Emma let out a long breath, lifting one hand to whipe at her wet eyes, she hadnt realised she'd been crying slightly but she was hardly surprised either. "I can't it's too hard, can't you just pull it for here? Or give me my wand and I'll Accio it out." There were several other things she wanted to do with her wand if she could only have it back, to let out the tension but Emma doubted she'd even be allowed sight of it.

Kevin was doing his best to stay as solid as a rock- for Emma. It was the only thing he could do, though he hated feeling so unbelievably helpless. His wife was in serious pain, pain he could only imagine [and probably not very well]- and he could do nothing but sit there, and let her grip his hand.

Unable to sit any longer, he stood, putting his hand on her other shoulder and saying simply,

"You're doing great, Emma. Unbelievable..." He was, quite simply, purely in awe. "You're almost done." He was trying to stay strong still, even trying to joke. "This is the miracle of life, Emma..one, disgusting, miracle...but a miracle. You're still my hero."

Emma rested her hand on his, on her shoulder and squeezed it greatfully. She was so glad that Kevin was there beside her, cheering her along. He was being wonderful and she knew she wouldn't have been able to go through all this without. He deserved a medal putting up with her the last nine months and now with her squeeing his hand black and blue.

Emma marvelled at how he kept trying to keep her relaxed and the mood light, and found herself almost laughing at his description of birth, "Oh don't... If I laugh, the baby'll likely shoot out like a cannonball and I doubt Chris has a catchers mit handy!" That in itself was hard not to laugh at but she occupied herself with panting as she felt another contraction.

"...Ow! You forgpt painful...Ow! Okay, this is it, the baby wants to come out, like now. I'm pushing." Emma pushed herself further up the bed, whiping quickly at her eyes, before screwing them shut, ready to take the final push, hand gripping Kevin's.

"Arrrrgh! They're coming..." Emma could feel the baby making it's way into the world.

Kevin could feel how his hand, the one that Emma was holding, got numb. But he showed nothing of it, though being quite nervous he stepped on his own foot. He felt so bad seeing Emma in such pain and he felt even worse knowing that it was somehow his fault. Hopefully, his fault. Quite frankly, his thoughts were a big mess that moment.

"Breathe, you`re doing wonderful Emma, don`t forget to breathe." he said quickly, trying to help her as best as he could. "Let her see the world, I bet she`s anxious." he smiled nervously, still thinking that it would be a girl. Actually, he was anxious to see the baby. Even if the whole idea of having a child with Emma that moment seemed somehow unreal. They waited for so long and Kevin simply couldn`t believe that this was the time they would get to see her. 'Okay one more big push now Emma, alright. One more push that's it, you're doing fine,' Chris instructed, giving encouragement as he readied himself to deliver the baby.

Emma did as instructed, encouraged by both Kevin and Chris's words, yet rolling her eyes as Kevin called the baby a he. "Im sure he is..." she ground out, still pushing. "Argghhh..." she cried, and push she did, until she couldn't push any more. She felt the baby leave her and the sound of a baby crying filled the room. Emma fell back exhausted against the pillow, panting at the final effort trying to catch sight of their baby, finally arrived into the world. She didnt know whether to laugh or cry... it was over, so instead she did both.

'Congratulations... It's healthy little girl,' Chris grinned then added with a wink, 'Or should I say congratulations Kevin,' Chris grinned while cutting the cord, cleaning them up and wrapping her up in a fluffy blanket. 'Congratulations, you're now parents. You did great Emma,' he added handling the crying little bundle to her proud mother. 'Watch the head.'

"A girl! We have a daughter. I dont even care tha I was wrong," Emma beamed, reaching out and taking their little girl. "She's beautiful," she breathed in awe. "Hey, little Katie. I'm your Mommy."

For a few seconds, or even more, Kevin was too stunned to say a thing. Or move. His eyes only followed their little girl in Emma`s arms. All what he could do that moment was to stare. That probably was some side effects of fatherhood. Luckily after a couple of moments he got back to himself and a huge smile spread all over his face. That moment he couldn`t care less about the whole Matthew issue. The only thing that was important to him, were Emma and their little Katie.

He gripped Emma`s shoulder supportively, keeping his eyes on the girl. “She IS beautiful. And amazing.“ Kevin said, repeating his wife. But what could he say if those words were absolutely true? “And you were wrong... she definitely has your nose.“ the smile on is face went even wider, as much as that was possible.

He bent over a bit, his cheek brushing slightly against Emma`s over the process. “Yes, this is your Mommy. And your Mommy done a great job. It makes your Daddy feel like the happiest man in earth.“ he grinned, stretching his arm to touch their daughter. He softly brushed his finger down the side of her head. Who cared that that moment Katie was crying like a little devil? To him she was the real angel.

Stretching up he kissed Emma`s cheek. “You`ve been wonderful. I love you.“ Kevin said, meaning it that moment more than ever.

Emma's eyes barely left the little figure in her arms. Beautiful, simply beautiful... there really was absolutely no other way to deescribe her. "My nose maybe but she has your eyes," Emma stated firmly, noting how besotted her husband was with his daughter. His daughter, not Matthew's She's looked nothing like Matthew, she was all D'Abugine, Emma was determined of that.

Emma felt her eyes welling up at Kevin's words and as she watched him, reach out to touch his daughter. It was lovely to watch their first intereaction, so why was she crying? She looked enuirinly to Chris for the answer but he merely shrugged with a slight laugh and said it was just the hormones... perfectly natural.

Emma scooted up a little to give Kevin room to sit up beside her on the bed and get closer to Katie and smiled tearily up at him as he kissed her cheek and praised her. "I love you too and thank you. I couldnt have done this without you," she murmured kissing him again, this time sweetly on the lips. "We're parents, finally."

Little Katie had been gazing up wide eye at her parents, who no doubt were still a little fuzzy at a distance for her new eyes, yet continued to cry. Emma rocked her gently, reaching down gently to stroke her tiny fingers. "Shhh little one... I know it's all new and you dont have Mommy's nice squishy water bed to keep you warm. This is the world," Emma bit her lips, gazing adoringly at the wonder of new life, life they had created.

Katie quietened down, and blinked back at her. "There now.... that's better. Oh Kevin she's so tiny. She doesn't look real." Emma looked up at Kevin in wonder, leaning into him and then carefuly lifted Katie toward him. "I think it's time Daddy held her. Daddy's Little Girl."

Kevin couldn`t get the smile off of his face all the time, it felt like it was glued to him. But it was just him being unbelievably happy. He sat down next to Emma and enjoyed looking at his wife and his daughter. He still didn`t let himself to think that it may not be his. As Emma offered him to take Katie, he grinned a bit. This all was really strange.

Softly taking his daughter in his hands, Kevin tried hard not to tear apart his cheeks because of all the smiling. ”Your lips… she has your lips.” he said, examining the little bundle in his arms. ”And you are so right. She doesn`t look real. None of this looks real. That`s what makes this all so amazing.” he took a second to look at Emma. Even his eyes were smiling.

Kevin hadnt stopped smiling since they'd been handed Katie, nor had Emma stopped weeping. Stupid hormones, affecting her during pregnancy and now after it. Katie was definately D'Abugine, her nose and lips, Kevin's eyes and if Emma wasnt mistaken perhaps his ears as well.

"It doesnt, does it? It's just all so sureal. I cant believe she's finally here, that it's already been nine months." Emma reached over again, this time tickling her daughters little toes and watching with amusement as her little legs wriggled a little. "Someone has ticklish toes," she giggled watching Kevin and Katie. She looked even tinier in her fathers's arms and Emma felt in awe of the situation.

She couldnt believe that just minutes ago, she had been going through the painful yet beautiful experience that was labour.Yes it had exhausted her and Emma was under no illusions that she likely looked a mess at the moment and couldnt have looked much better during the labour itself. But right now, sat next her Kevin with there daughter, with Katie newly arrived into the world before them, she didnt care. Life was bliss, this was all wonderful.

"I just cant take it all in," she sniffed, a sappy smile spread across her face. "I cant wait to introduce her to everyone."

Kevin let his eyes linger on his wife. "Calm down Em. It`s all okay, no, it`s all wonderful. You are wonderful, Katie is wonderful..." he smiled and looked down at his daughter in his arms. "I wonder if she will grow up to be just like her mother... I wouldn`t mind."

Actually, now he felt relieved. Before he was tense, he was scared that something might get wrong, he wasn`t sure what to expect for. And that moment it all felt simply perfect. He had his daughter in his arms and his wife by his side. What else a man could want?

Kevin turned to Emma once again. "Oh, are you tired? You`ve been through so much. You probably are tired." he ranted, smile dropping off of his face for a moment. All what he could do now was to make sure that Emma was feeling comfortable. She gave him a daughter and he wanted to do something back.

Emma smiled bashfully up at Kevin, whiping swiftly at her eyes. "I know, I'm just so happy, I'm in awe and I cant believe she's here. That and I cant get my hormones in check. These tears are happy but they wont stop." Emma joined him in gazing at their little one. "I wouldnt mind if she grew up to be like you."

At Kevin's questions, Emma slipped herself under the covers of the bed, sliding down she that she was conftably curled up in the nook of Kevin's arm, but still in clear sight of little Katie in his arms. She could disguise the small yawn. The labour had been harder work than she'd have expected and beside being tired she was a bit sore but both were likely to be expected. "A little," she under-exaggerated, nestling closer, her hand still reaching to stroke Katie's toes gently. "But I dont want to fall asleep and miss anything. I like our little family."

Kevin looked around silently, holding Katie tightly but softly to him. He just wanted to do anything for Emma that moment. "Well, if you don`t want to leave your family, I guess the family could stay here." he said with a smile. "If the Healers will let us, I could sleep on a chair and we could have Katie’s crib here?” he was really trying hard.

”So, if the whole family will stay here, you won`t miss a thing, and you would be able to rest?” He looked down at Katie again and couldn`t help but smile widely. ”Do you want your Mommy to rest now? Or do you want to play?” he asked her silently, tickling her cheek softly. He then took Emma`s hand, with which she was reaching for their daughter and benting a bit kissed it. Looking up at her he kept smiling, simply being happy.

How Emma had got so lucky as to have Kevin, she would never know but that is what she was, incredibly lucky. She had a wonderful husband and now a beautiful baby girl. She couldnt ask for anything more.

"What would I do without you? Of course I'd love you to stay but a chair? It doesnt sound too comfortable. Why not just stay here and we can have Katie beside us in the crib?" Emma suggested sleepily, too comfy to move or let him move.

'We could bring you a spare bed if you wanted,' Chris mentioned from where he had been clearing up after the birth. 'I'll leave you three alone for a bit, someone will be along shortly with a crib for Katie,' he added before heading out with Dea.

Emma nodded at the offer. "That sounds more comfy." She watched Kevin silently with Katie, the small smile never leaving her face. "Youre wonderful with her, you know that? Youre a natural father." She found her eyes drooping lazily as he kissed her hand, murmuring. "I love you know. You both... Im lucky."

She sighed, eyes resting on the tiny figure before them, whose eyes were also drooping as she gave a small yawn. Emma had to stop her self from allowing her eyes to well up again and she stiffled a quiet, "Awwww..."Emma mused for a moment, quite content where she was, in the moment. "When do you think we should announce the news? The family will want to know... Abi and Tris, Gabe, my parents, Andy, those at work..."

The pair fell into quiet conversation, watching Katie, discussing the next few days Emma would likely be kept in hospital... writing a few Owls to send out to the family to announce Katie's birth. While they talked, a crib for Katie was brought in along with a bed for Kevin, set up in the corner. It had been a long night for both of them and they needed their rest. After sending off the Owls, using one of the Hospital Owls, and settling Katie into her crib, the pair settled down for a few hours sleep... at least until Katie would next wait up needing a feed or a diaper change.

----------

Emma didnt have long to sleep, maybe a couple of hours at most, before Katie woke up for her first feed. An Acolyte came in to assist Emma in showing her how to get her to feed. It was a strange feeling at first but a miracle of life. Katie was hungry and when she finished, she was quite content to go back to sleep in her crib, giving Mom another hours kip before waking for a fresh change of diaper, this wasnt quite so much of a miracle and once Emma had figured out which way the diaper fitted on, she was quite happy to settle back in her bed, baby Katie wrapped into a fluffy white blanket in her arms, while Kevin slept on.

She'd woken up each time, not quite believing it was all real.

Andy came quietly into the room with a gift basket full of the baby essentials. Diapers, wipes, sleepers... you name it, she had it in there. She left her sunglasses on and smiles as best as she can. "Congrats on bringing my baby cousin into this world." She said softly to Emma.

Emma looked up from the tiny bundle in her arms hearing the door to the room creek open and smiled gratefully at Andy, eyeing the gift basket. Now with her wand back in her possession, (she had snuck it out of Kevin's pocket while he'd been sleeping, Emma had cast a silencing charm over Kevin's bed so he couldnt he wouldnt be disturbed by visiters.

"Andy, hi. So you got the Owl then? Uh... sunny outside?" she asked curiously, commenting on the sunglasses as subtly as she could before gesturing her cousin over. "Id like you to meet Katie Martha D'Abugine, ten hours old."

"Uh, right. Its pretty sunny." She said, looking at the baby. "Gorgeous, She's all Bassy. Sorry, dear. Oh, here, from Ryou the boys and myself."

She kept looking at the baby, making no move to take off her sunglasses, between all her emotions and the drinking she had been doing, her eyes were red.
