"Emma is his godmother and Severus is his godfather, and as much as Sev would love to do it, and I know he and Sky would,I want Alfie with family and he'd be in more danger with Carter. If you need, I will talk to Emma about taking care of Alfie." She took her cousin's hand. "If you don't want to, I understand, and I will talk to Severus." |

Shaking his head, still smiling at his cousin, Kevin squeezed her hand reassuringly. "No, you're right. And I ... I need to talk to Emma anyway. I'd be honored to watch Alfie for you, 'Dromeda." He took a bit of a steadying breath. For though he knew he was speaking the absolute truth, he also was scared. |

"Have I told you how much I love you since we were last up here?" She asked him, knowing that she probably hadn't. "Thank you so much, Bassy. He might not warm up to you right way, but he loves Emma." |

Laughing appreciatively, Kevin shook his head and said with a laugh, "Love you too." A flash of worry crossed his face as he heard her next words, and he swallowed. Merlin, he was going to be taking care of Andy's son. Alfie. At least Emma already knew him. "Of course. I'm glad I can help. So..I guess I should head back to the flat then, so I can contact Emma in the morning?" |

"Yeah, I better head back home to my boys. Thanks, Kevin." She hugged him tight. "This is helped after I lost my temper and almost got suspended, but that's another story for another night." She said as she climbed down. Once she got to the bottom, she conjured a pile of fluffy pillows. "Just be happy that I never had Llian's baby when I was 15..." Andy said, laughing. She was serious, but she did it to bug Kevin now. |

He returned her hug tightly, nodding, glad that at least he'd been able to help her. While he assisted her briefly in climbing down, she had it on her own, and he waved. He honestly wasn't ready to go back to his own flat yet...though he should. Hearing what she said however, nearly caused him to topple out of the tree again. "WHAT?!" He yelled after her, after he regained his balance, and spotted the pillows underneath. "Oh...haha...very funny.." He said sarcastically with a laugh, though he still was curious to know whether or not she was serious. A question for another time apparently. Eventually, he did get up and return to his flat. Andy grabbed a portkey to the D'Abugine summer home, yes she was a Marrid by name, but she never fit in with them, so here she had Alfie and leo. The older of the two, running around in the grass behind the house picking his mother some flowers and the other trying to eat the flowers that came into his line of vision. "Come on, Leo, don't eat those..." She said, pulling them from his hands. |

After talking with Abi for hours the previous evening [and, er, morning], Kevin hadn't been entirely sure that he was going to be awake this morning. Instead, he'd gone back to his and Emma's room, hoping to run into her there, but found instead that she'd gone to the office already. Well, that figured. After a few hours of attempting [rather fruitlessly], to get some sleep, he'd headed into work himself. Where he'd found out that there was another letter from France, which was accompanied with a personal message from Emily. He'd been keeping in touch with her loosely, feeling bloody awful about what had happened to both her brother and her husband- and wasn't exactly surprised to realize how upset she still was. Then again, how exactly was she supposed to just..get over that? Her brother and her husband, in the same week. Unrelated, obviously- one in France, and one at the ball- but it was still.. At which point Kevin had stopped, and leaned back in his chair. It was just a random whim- so much so that he'd laughed about the fact that his chair was a bright red still- thank you Abi. But he'd been reading what Monica had reported about Tim- and hadn't she said France? France. And ... there was a chance it was Anonymous. Maybe it wasn't so unrelated. It was enough to make him want to get out of his office, and sniff around the French Headquarters for a bit. When he got there, though, he sent a letter home to Emma and decided to go around the lake before heading home. When he got there, however, he was happily surprised to see Andy. It had been ages since they'd hung out, really, and he was smiling to notice her. He waved, and then realized she was with Leo and Alfie, at least- he thought it was Leo and Alfie. He'd never, actually met them, at least not yet. He waved and said simply, "Hey Dromeda...and I take it these are those two fabulous kids you're always telling me about?" He teased, plopping himself down on the grass. It was still very easy for him to get around this lake- they'd spent so many summers there. "How is it we've both decided too, apparently, visit here on the same day?" That was quite the coincidence, but he laughed and added, 'Not that I'm complaining of course.." His teasing grin was softened as he looked at the kids. Honestly, he knew he was weird to want kids at his age [he was only twenty five], particularly being a guy- but he took that as being raised around his cousins. Between 'Dromeda and Abi, he was never really surprised to know he had some femanine qualities. Not in a weird, creepy way of course, but just that he enjoyed watching kids and it had been his idea to get married. That sort of thing. It was comforting, really. He cast his gaze back at Andromeda again. |

Andy looked up when she heard the familiar voice and she smiled and nodded. "These are my rug rats." She said with a smile. "Hubby is here too, somewhere. Alfie has been picking me flowers and if Leo sees them, he tries to eat them." She said smiling appreciatively. |

Ryou's head was spinning. "There's no such thing as 'comfortable' when travelling in the Wizarding World, is there?" he asked sourly. Years or Apparating, Floo powder, and portkeys, and he still wasn't used to it. He grumbled to himself as he pulled his wife into the circle of his arms and kissed her head. He glanced over. "Hey, Kevin. How are you?" Over the last two months, he had gotten used to the fact that he had magic again, his father was dead, and that there was almost no more danger. He wondered a lot about Ivy. He kept trying to think of ways to make good on his promise to go back and see her without Andy finding out and trying to hunt her down herself. That wouldn't be good. |

Andy smiled when her husband wrapped his arms around her and she leaned into him. "We haven't been away from the house in a while..." She pointed out before throwing her hair up in a messy ponytail. "There is the little Firebolt I would have had you watch if my father tried to follow through with his plans..." She said with a smile, watching Alfie run around. |

Ryou kissed Andy's head again before crouching down next to Leo to carefully pull the flowers he was eating from him. "I know they're yummy, but wouldn't some formula taste a little better?" He smiled wryly. |

Andy stood back and watched her husband's back end with a smile that was accompanied by eyes that were blank. she kept watching until she noticed Alfie getting too close to the forest and she chased after him and picked him up, hanging him upside down for a few moments and he just laughed his head off. Still in his hands were his flowers which she held out to his daddy. "Here daddy!" he said giving Ryou the flowers Ryou laughed and took the flowers, looking through them. "Thanks, Alfie!" he said kissing the little boy's head. He took the prettiest one out and put it in his wife's hair before picking Leo up. _________________________________________________ After a few hours the family left back for their home. Andy wandered about the summer house grounds, the last three... four days replaying in her head. She remembered shrinking and jumping into the box, but no more after that. She signed before making sure the bottle of firewhiskey was fixed tightly into her cloack pocket before climbing onto her's and Bassy's branch. If Carter was right about Sebastien needing someone, he'd come here... he would come here, and they would just relax, talking things over. Andy checked her watch and sighed, maybe Kevin wasn't as bad off as Carter said so she disapparated from the brach and headed home. Edited by Andy Grant, Jan 28 2009, 03:32 PM.

Settling the beaming birthday girl into the playpen they'd dragged out into the sunshine, Emma stood back to admire the party decorations that had been set up in the garden of the D'Abugine summer house. Balloons tied to tree branches and onto the back of a few chairs that had been dragged out, a few party streamers and a banner with "Happy 1st Birthday Katie!" printed on it in multicolor. Katie's first birthday party. Who knew where the last year had gone. It had sped by. The party preparations were almost finished, party food set out on a table under one of the trees, a large blanket to sit out on and relax and play in the sun, even a paddling pool. Lifting Katie out of the playpen and setting her down on the rug, her hands clutched around a giant stuffed toy of a dog, her Grandparents bought her. She hadn't let go of the thing since she'd got it. It had even been a task to get her to let go to change her into her party dress. The guests would be arriving soon. Looking back towards the house where she assumed Kevin had wondered off to, Emma called out, "Hun, everything all set? Anyone arrived yet?" |

Lynx arrived at Katie's first birthday party, pushing James in his stroller. She had figured it would be a good opportunity to see her friends and get James out to meet other kids. There was still a lot of work to be done, but she was trying her best to balance everything. She was completely failing - it felt much like everything was spiraling out of control - but at least she was trying, right? But an O for Effort never really cut it in real life. Ah well. She was there to see Emma, Kevin and little Katie that day. So when she arrived she headed over to Emma, who was asking Kevin a question. Waiting till Emma had stopped talking, she then greeted her. "Hey Em. Hope I'm not here too early?" |

Sayuri hadn't seen anyone in absolutely forever, and when she got the invitation for Katie's birthday party, it was the perfect opportunity. She couldn't believe Katie was already a year old! She'd been only a few months the last time she'd seen her. She arrived at the party carrying Edward. It was nice that he'd be able to have some fun, too. "Hey, everyone," she said. No one was really there yet, so she hoped she wasn't there too early, but it was alright. |

Hearing a couple of familiar voices, Emma looked round from where she was sat on the rug with Katie, playing with her toy dog, grinning. She saw Lynx pushing James in his stroller and Sayuri with little Edward. Waving them over, Emma drew Katie into her lap, the little girl babbling away, one hand still on her stuffed to. "Never too early. Glad you both could make it. You're the first to arrive actually." Emma turned to greet the boys, "Look, Katie. It's Edward and James. Are you going to say hello?" Katie waved happily, beaming at her guests. They were still encouraging her start talking but so far all she could say was Dada... "Sayuri! How have you been? Really, it's been ages. Far too long. Where have you been hiding? And Edward, Merlin! He's growing up so fast. I loose track. How old is he now?" She then gave Lynx and James a warm smile. "So who's this little one take after the most? His mum or his dad?" James was absolutely adorable. Emma could hardly believe they were all parents now. "How you feeling? After being laid up in Mungo's I mean?" Emma hadn't had the chance to properly chat to her friend since the madness of the virus. Her attention was distracted as Katie shuffled off her lap and pushed herself to her feet, tottering two steps unsteadily towards their guests before falling back down on her bum and crawling the rest of the way towards them. "She hasn't quite got the hang of walking yet." Edited by Emma_D'Abugine, May 31 2009, 01:26 PM.

Leslie had spent days trying to find Katie a decent gift that she didn't end up storing away for her own baby. Clothes were the best option, because she wasn't about to buy girlie clothes for a one year old baby whose gender was still unknown. Leslie had chosen a rather casual outfit of jeans and a fitted top. There was no way Leslie would be outside all day in a dress with wind blowing and such even though most of the maternity clothes she owned no longer fitted the bump aside from the dresses. So in the box (because what baby didn't love tearing paper?) were clothes, a pair of shoes for when she started walking, and a little elephant what was an exact match to the one she bought for the nursery. As she was here, Chester was working away on the mural, and she waited on Gabe. She walked towards Emma with a smile, her eyes going towards a crawling Katie. It as hardto believe that she was already a year old, she remembered when Katie was born and she was no more than an outsider on this close knit family. |

Lynx smiled down at Katie. "Hi Katie," she greeted her. "Happy Birthday." Glancing down at her son in the stroller, she asked, "Can you wave hello, James?" To her delight, James did raise his hand in somewhat of a wave. He was learning a lot and growing up so quickly. Lynx was pretty sure Tyler was to thank for that. She wasn't really all that good with him. "I think James is definitely his father's son," Lynx replied to Emma's question. "He's just like Tyler - keeps weird sleeping hours, learns quickly..." Answering her other question, she replied, "I'm doing fine. Just have a lot of work to catch up on. How's Kevin doing with his recovery?" |
