"Why yes, you're having twins. Two little children," the healer said. She finished up her tests, and smiled at Jennipher. "You seem normal. If there's any problems, come here immediately. And have a nice day," she said, walking out of the room. |

"Th-Thank you," Jennipher said. She couldn't believe she was having twins. The thought never came to her. She put her head down and walked out, deciding that she now wanted chocolate more than chips. |

Leslie lead Tanya upstairs and one of the acolytes spotted her immediately. "Healer Law went home for the night." She said rushing over to her and Tanya. Leslie waved her off. "I know, its okay, I'm not here to see him tonight, Healer Daniels is just showing me to use a piece of equipment, then we'll be invisible. So just don't tell Healer Law. please." She said and the acolyte nodded and went away. Leslie opened the door to the sonogram lab. She headed into the dark room that was filled with a stretcher, the machine, and a small desk, she got nervous almost immediately, she'd finally see what her and Gabe had made together. She couldn't wait to show Gabe their baby, because really it was only a matter of time before this was going to happen and the little one was quite the Christmas present. "Do you think that the pictures could come out not moving?" Leslie wondered aloud. Her parents were used to moving pictures by now, but she didn't think their company was used to them or even knew of them. "If not, no worries, I am sure I can find a muggle obstetrician that can get them for me, or my sister will take me to her's when Gabe and I go to Canada for Christmas." Dea walked in at a page, smiling briefly at Leslie before looking at Tanya for a split second, "Thompson is going into cardiac arrest, they need your help. Floor four, room 210." Tayn rushed out of the room, and Dea turned to Leslie again to ask, "Do you mind if I took over? This is actually one of the first things I learned. Not really custom, but I don't mind..." As she talked, Dea took out the things, and waited patiently for the okay. |

Leslie nodded and smiled. "Yeah, its no problem, Dea. Acolytes need practice too." She said, almsot wanting to go with Tanya to help out until she remembered that she had the day off. "Please, whatever goes on in here, doesn't make its way to Gabe." She said before slipping off her shoes and getting onto the stretcher then exposing her stomach. |

Once Leslie laid down, Dea said a quick cleansing spell first on her hands, then on the equipment, then Leslie's stomach. With an impish smile she nodded at the healer's comment about not telling Gabe, and commented innocently, "Chris is probably going to be irritated with me in about...thirty seconds." Then it was business, "So glad I don't have to explain this to you. People just don't seem to get it sometimes..." She turned on the machine, and gently kneaded Leslie's stomach until she felt a little thickness. That would be a good place to start. Setting the transducer lightly ontop of that thickness, she turned to look at the monitor, slowly rubbing it around. There was magic lacing through the transducer to do what the muggles do, and it kept itself from chafing against her skin. "Here we go..." She said, bringing it closer into focus with her free hand. |

"You sent her to him, didn't you?" She said trying not to laugh. Dea was quite clever and Leslie was quite jealous she didn't get to work with her on a regular basis. "I hate ultrasounds, really... but I guess I need to get used to them." Was all she said before she grabbed a book that was on the table beside her that showed what a baby looked like week to week. She guessed that Dea didn;t know what she was looking for right away, but behind the book, Leslie's eyes were focused on the screen. |

"What's that?" Dea teased, her eyebrow going up to add to her obviously fake look of surprise. "I sent Tayn to a patient..." She laughed though, and paused her moment, nodding her head at the screen, "There. See the two circles, sort of? I dislike that these aren't clearer. The one on the left is the placenta, see how its connected to your baby? And baby's moving. It's hard to tell exactly what baby's doing with its..appendages, they're not quite arms and legs yet, but it's moving. So small!" Dea smiled, looking at the strange photo, and then shrugged, "And then its my duty to tell you to eat things with lots of calcium, because thats good for the baby's bones and teeth." |

Leslie laughed at Dea's comment then almost started crying when she saw the baby. "Oh my...." She gasped. Flipping through the book, 4 weeks? No, 6 weeks? No, the baby was too big... 8 weeks... getting there... 9 weeks? It very well could be, but 10? 10 was the closest to what she saw. "10 weeks... I think..." "How did I manage to miss this for so long? But its good to know that I've been eating more for a good reason. I am just afraid of the weight gain." She said, laughing. Looking at the screen again, she wiped away her tears. "Hi baby..." She watched it just move like nothing, it was actually quite entertaining. Edited by Leslie Law, Dec 10 2008, 10:23 PM.

"That looks about right..." Dea confirmed, glancing at the screen again, and then moved her hand to get more of a dimensional view. When she looked back at Leslie though, the woman was crying, and Dea looked at the table, a small grin on her face as she said, "There's tissues right there if you need them." She understood though. The first ultrasound was always shock, tears, sometimes even fear. Strong emotions came from babies. "Well, don't be afraid of the weight gain. You shouldn't, actually, gain that much weight very quickly. If you reach the 24 pounds gained in the whole pregnancy, that's about it. But that includes the placenta, and the baby, and maternal blood, amniotic fluid, all that stuff." Dea left the picture up on the screen, but then she asked, "So why don't you want Gabe to know?" |

"I think I look bigger than 10 weeks though... is there anyway to tell if the baby is attached to the front or to the back? I know from my acolyte days that if I carry in front that I will be bigger." She said, before laughing and grabbing a tissue. "Thanks..." She was still in disbelief. "And I just need to tell him first, he's been so busy we're hardly seen one another lately... too many women synchronising their labours." |

"Attached?" Dea questioned, "Right now the uterus is where it always is. The other organs are going to be shifting around, but the uterus is just thickening and getting bigger." Of course, it was quite possible she just wasn't familiar with the terminology. As Leslie took a took a tissues, Dea smiled, again, [[she thought this section of the healing teachings was the funnest]], but when she heard about Gabe being really busy, Dea sympathized. "I know how that is. Minus the women in labour, of course." |

Leslie giggled. "Nooo, where is the placenta attached? Oh Merlin, I hope I'm not going to be a psycho mother.... that wouldn't be good if Gabe and I ever move in together..." she was a little worried, a little scared, but mostly excited. "We talked about having a kid back in August, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon." |

Dea smiled. "Front. And you'll be great." But Dea put away all the things that she'd used, and turned off the machine. another cleaning spell, and reached out a hand to help Leslie up. "Congratulations. And I'm around if you need anything." She then told her. The impish grin came back though, and she winked as she said, "I better go see how that patient in 210 is doing..." With a laugh, Dea walked out of the room. |

Leslie took a moment to herself after Dea helped her up. "Thanks, and I'm sure you'll get to see the good parts while I am working." she said, then sat there looking at the book in her hand... 10 weeks, well she had to tell Gabe next time they were together and the other wasn't sleeping. But if it was front attached... on Merlin, she didn't want to think of how big she'd get. |

She was nervous, extremely nervous. She needed to calm down. She was currently sitting on top of the ultrasound table. . .thingy, not lying down yet, waiting for this whole shenanigan to begin. She must have drank half her weight in water, an exaggeration of course but it sure did feel like it. That pesky procedure about having to have your bladder completely full for the ultrasound to get a clear image, and that was the most important part of the whole procedure. Using the ultrasound they figure out where exactly to place the needle and she definitely didn't feel like getting sticked multiple times (it was also why she had vouched for no anesthetic, one needle was enough.) Why had she chosen to go the muggle route?. . .Quite honestly, it was probably because the last time she had done it the muggle way, because she knew that the Diaz family wouldn't have liked it. She was just the little rebel back then, apparently. So since she was familiar with the muggle procedure she opted for the muggle procedure. Unless she changed her mind at the last possible second with a yell of "Wait, no, stop! I changed my mind!" Which had a high probability of happening anyways. Come to think of it. . .why in the hell was she doing this the muggle way? She knew that the healers could just easily wave their wand, tell them if it was a girl or a boy, another flick of the wand would tell them if Shawn was the father but could a flick of a wand tell her whether her baby had Fanconi anemia or not? Now that would have been a neat trick. So she was simply there, waiting, both of her hands now being held by one of his. The different in size was so incredible, she felt kind of small. Of course, she would look at her stomach and remind herself that her extremities would get swollen in a matter of weeks and that feeling pretty much vanished entirely. "Thank you...for being here." She told him, her eyesight still fixed on their hands, like they had been for a couple of minutes already. She was nervous, anxious to know everything she could about the situation. She just hoped she wouldn't throw up anytime soon because that would have been downright messy, and just plain disgusting. |

Shawn would have been pacing if he were not holding on to her hands. To say he was 'a little anxious' was an understatement. There was a child, growing inside of her, part of already. That child, might be his. Whether or not it was, he was finding, was not changing that he wanted to be there. He wanted to know her, regardless. At her words, he found himself smiling in spite of the anxiety, in spite of the fact that he had no idea what he really wanted. He focused on the fact that while he didn't know, he would know soon. He turned over her words and squeezed both her hands again saying slowly, "I want to be here." It was true. She might want to thank him for it, but he did want to be there. They were awaiting the Acolyte at the moment so he said tilted his head. Shawn didn't have a problem talking, usually. At that moment? He didn't know how to put what he was thinking into words. In the interest of avoiding sounding like an idiot, he waited to put it together and then he added simply, "I want to be here, whatever the answer is." And he still had stammered it in the end, hadn't he? Merlindammit. |

Oh no, stupid hormonal emotions. They were going to make her cry, oh but they would not prevail. She will not cry, crying would be unacceptable at that moment. She was supposed to be strong, determined, able to face whatever it was that they were throwing against her- she started crying. Thankfully it wasn't anything but a few tears spilling forth from her eyes, those traitorous eyes, but it was still embarassing. She retracted one of her hands from his to wipe at them; she didn't even know what emotion she was crying about. Nervousness? Most probably; she knew she wasn't sad. Quite the opposite, she was thrilled about this baby, no matter who the father was. Not too thrilled about the gaining weight, giving up alcohol, not going to clubs and bars aspect of it, but she would get over that soon enough. "I'm sorry, I'm just a. . .big hormonal, pregnant mess." She admitted, sniffling once before she let out a dry laugh at herself. "And bipolar, not to mention bipolar. Or maybe I have multiple personality disorder or I'm schizophrenic, or maybe- you know what, I'll stop talking." She said all that very quickly and she was sure that it was just one of her nervous habits breaking out and forming into a new one. Since her hands were being withheld, she couldn't do any of her normal nervous habits: play with her hair, rub her neck, etc. She took a deep breath and exhaled, muttering out a small, "Where's that damn acolyte?" |

When she tugged her hand free for a moment to wipe at her eyes, Shawn looked a little startled by the mood swing and then figured he probably should get used to them. So he squeezed her hand again, a little smile crossing his lips as she laughed at herself and shook his head. "Hey, don't worry about it. You're allowed to be a little bit of a mess right now." He laughed a little himself but said honestly, "And for the record...what you are is gorgeous. " He reached up to wipe a tear off her cheek himself. "Just a little wet." And his lips turned up in another smirk. It was so much easier to focus on her right now, rather than on the many mixed and panicky feelings he was having himself. Whatever the outcome today was for him, she was still going to be having a baby, and that was still a huge deal. He liked being able to think he might be able to be there for her. She was capable (anyone who could shoot Voldemort was capable), and strong, and sexy...and these were just first impressions. He wanted to know more. For once he actually wanted to really get to know someone. It was startling him, honestly. He'd never been that type of 'guy' before. But then, he'd never known what type of guy he was. If the baby was his, then he'd think more on what that would mean for his own life. Right now, he just wanted to be there for her. "I'm sure they'll be in soo--" The Acolyte entered the room before he got his words out. 'Wow. I have impeccable timing." He smirked, squeezing her hand again. |
