Edmond's eyes shot open and he looked at the healer - who was decidedly not looking at him for a change. He looked down, looked at the healer again, and then finally looked at Amelia, the apology even more deeply worked into his expression - Would she be mad? Upset? Hurt - that he had been so ready to walk right out of her life and leave her alone with a baby girl on the way? Or would she just go right back to him, now that he could have what he wanted? Would he still get it? "Ami..." he said, breathlessly, as he put his arms around her and kissed her cheeks where the tears were falling. "Amelia please don't cry...it's okay, it's all going to be okay." If he focused on comforting her, he could avoid killing the stupid healer. |

Amelia really reacted slowly to that. She just... couldn`t be really sad one moment and then happy the other. So, for some time she just sat there, shocked. Tears kept rolling down because she needed time to get it that Edmond wasn`t going to leave her. Then she looked up at him. "It is..." she whispered answering him. It really was going to be okay. There was an inner battle inside her - half of her was really angry on Edmond, that he almost tossed her away just because of the baby, but the other side was insanely happy that they could be together. After few more moments Amelia pushed the angry side away. At least for that moment. She was too happy. Throwing her arms around Edmond`s neck she pressed herself to him. "It is going to be okay." she repeated, this time so sure of it. |

Edmond knew they'd argue later, he knew she wouldn't be able to just...let it go. But talking could come later. He held her close against him, kissed her, and then allowed himself to send a stunning spell at the nurse before he apparated away with Amelia. [permission to GM given] |

Julie and Llian were shown to an exam room by an Acolyte who looked to be rather swamped. Apparently there were lots of witches in the area expecting babies, for they'd had to wait 45 minutes before being shown to a room. The Acolyte left to get the Healer, and she heard Llian mutter something about how they'd probably have to wait another 45 minutes before the Healer got there. "We'd better not have to wait that long," Julie replied impatiently. She had, after all, been looking forward to the appointment all week. It seemed like every day the concept of having a baby was growing on her, slowly but surely. |

"I'm sure we won't have to," Llian replied. In truth, he really didn't much care that they were running behind (the comment was made more as a joke than out of genuine irritability). One minute, one hour...well, that was life. But he knew that Julie really just wanted to get to the appointment. |

Tanya emerged from the elevator, annoyed at being pulled out of one of her other patients rooms to come to Check Up. She could be in with Finch right now, if her damned husband (she'd gotten used to thinking it ....as an insult) hadn't lost her the patient. She tapped her fingers on the desk as they offered her charts and pointed out the patient to her. Her bedside manner instantly appeared, as her patients were obviously and always the most important things to her. The frustration and annoyance disappeared within the five steps she took to her room, and shut the door behind her. She first gave them a genial smile, and then looked down at the charts to read how far along she was. "Julie Verne..." She read and then looked up at them both again and added, "And...are you the father, Mr.." |

"And see? It didn't take that long," Llian said before looking up at the Healer who came in. He thought he'd seen her around Headquarters before, but he couldn't exactly remember. "Yes, I'm the father," Llian said as she addressed him. "And it's Mr. Eppes, but you can call me Llian." He fell silent after that, allowing the Healer to do her work. |

Julie nodded as the woman said her name and then allowed Llian to talk. She wasn't really sure what to say - because she didn't really have any questions, and there was nothing she could really think of to remark upon. "So, should we get started then?" she asked. She was, after all, a bit impatient, and the fact that she was kept waiting didn't exactly improve matters. |

Smiling softly, Tanya nodded, glad that Ms. Verne seemed to want nothing more than for this to be quick. She thought to herself, My sentiments exactly.. But she never wavered from smiling and nodding at Mr. Eppes. "Of course. How are you feeling?" She said while she set up the table, and put down the charts, and her pen while sitting poised to write down everything she said. |

"Well, I'm definitely glad the first trimester's over," Julie remarked. "The morning sickness is all but gone," she said, grateful for the fact that it only lasted through the first trimester. Because she didn't think she could deal with a full nine months of nausea. "And in general I'm feeling pretty good. Of course, I definitely have a bigger appetite, and I get tired easier than I used to." She sat up on the table as she talked, and when she was finished, she waited for Tanya's next question or instructions. She wasn't really worried: so far, everything seemed to be going according to schedule judging by the books she'd read. |

Tanya couldn't help but laugh a little at the first remark, even as she dutifully, and neatly wrote down every thing that Julie said, still examining the chart. After a second, she nodded and said, still smiling, "You seem to be doing very well, Ms. Verne." She looked down for a second, and took out her wand, performing a few basic checks and explaining what she was doing while doing it. She didn't particularly like the magic way to check things all the time, but it was faster than going to her Muggle bag and getting out a stethoscope. She nodded and smiled as she wrote down the measurements and said, "Yes, well, unfortunately, that's a good sign...even if it does mean you're gaining weight. I'd advise you to keep track of that weight actually.Congratulations, everything looks very healthy. You're doing very well." After a second, she tilted her head and added, "Are you two interested in knowing the sex of the baby?" |

Considering Llian and Julie had already previously discussed the matter, Julie immediately nodded. "Yes, we are," she said, unable to keep the excitement out of her voice. So she could finally know. Of course, she was only a little past 3 months along, so it hadn't been that long, but, then again, it had. Besides, she'd love to stop calling her child "it' or "the baby" or the ever-dreaded "he or she". And it would be a lot easier to pick out names that way. |

Still smiling, Tanya help a solitary finger to indicate one minute, and took her wand out again, preforming the spell. Normally, she'd use a potion, but at the moment, she wasn't eager to run out of the room to fetch it- and the last Healer in this room had apparently forgotten to replace it. As beams of blue and pink light arched their way across the room, she waited a few moments to see which would settle, and the lights fizzled a way a second later, after bathing Ms. Verne in a calm, pink light. Though she figured they were smart enough to figure out what that meant, Tanya said with a grin, "Congratulations. It's a girl." |

A girl. She was having a little baby girl. They were having a girl. Of course, Julie would have been happy with either gender, but she was simply ecstatic just to know. "We're going to have a girl!" she said happily to Llian as Tanya headed out of the room, having finished with her examination. Julie was grinning ear to ear, and she didn't think she could stop if she tried. "Are you excited?" she asked after a moment. "Because some guys want boys." |

"Of course I'm excited," Llian said. "And I can honestly tell you that I would have been equally excited either way." He, too, was very excited to find out the gender of the baby. And Julie wasn't wearing as loose-fitting clothing that day (seeing as they weren't going into work so she didn't have to hide anything) so Llian could definitely see that she was starting to show. And actually seeing it - even if she wasn't showing much at all - was making the whole process feel that much more 'real'. Not that it didn't feel real before, but now it was just more...tangible. At least, he thought that was the right word for it. "So tell me: what's next on your list of things to do for the day?" he asked. He figured that, given the mood, she was in, they would all be completely baby-related, and he found that he didn't mind one bit. He'd even enjoy helping her get done whatever it was she wanted to do. |

Julie shrugged. "I didn't really have a plan," she told him. "I was just going to see how the appointment went and then go from there. But right now I want to get some lunch and then go check out a couple of those flats. Then I was going to go home and look through the baby names book," she said. Well, so much for not having a plan. Of course, she'd just come up with it on the spot. |

Chris headed upstairs to wait for Emma to arrive. While he was waiting he quickly finished up the charts and then pulled out Emma's paperwork. He frowned, seeing that she hadn't been in for quite some time. He was sure she was doing well, but she probably should have had more regular checkups. He blamed the receptionist, whose job it was to schedule follow-up appointments with the patients. |

Emma and Lynx made their way along the St Mungo's corridors towards the maternity ward, where Emma was scheduled to have her check-up. She had hoped Kevin would be accompanying her, but he had been out of office when she had gone to find him and had to leave him a note. Arriving at the Maternity ward she settled herself in the tiny maternity reception and waiting to be called through. |
