The taste in Harmony's mouth was making her want to go back and actually bite him to eat, not to hurt. The other woman's eyes though warned her against that, and so she just tried to take deep breaths.

Didn't stop her from taking a step forward when the man walked out of the room.

When Dante stepped towards her though, she stepped back again, crossing her arms over her chest defensively. He wasn't mad though, other than saying that the man deserved it. It was an interesting concept, to say that someone deserved to be bitten, but she relaxed a little bit anyways.

Just a little bit; she was still suddenly thirsty; she could taste the venom filling her mouth. At the same time though, Harmony had learned to control herself. At home, if she bit someone, she was punished. She didn't really want to find out what could happen here if she did more than what she'd already done.

He wasn't crowding her space, he was just telling her that things were going to be okay, and when he suggested that they would just stay away from them if she sat next to him, it didn't take long before she was on the ground. She still was trying to take up the least space possible, but she was next to him.

"Okay." But who would come to help them?

Dante felt bad. Plain and simple. And even his younger self seemed better at handling the situation than he was which was pretty ridiculous. He was also mad at himself for causing it because Harm had warned him and he had just assumed that her younger self wouldn't do anything. Always expect the unexpected right? He let Harm do what she needed to and he nodded when she gave instructions.

"I was trying to help," Dante defended.

As he wasn't as outspoken as his younger self apparently was, he said it on his way out of the room as he went to take care of the towel. Here he had avoided most accidents for this reason, and when he didn't he made sure to not even let Harm know. This time that hadn't exactly been an option. As he put the dish towel in the sink, he threw it down a bit more forcefully than was needed.

Dante was glad when Harm sat down, and he already figured out what she was, but he didn't think it was a big deal. People had their own little problems. Besides, it wasn't what she was that made her, it was who she was.

"Hey, you like games right? Or maybe a magic trick?"

Now if that pack of cards was still in his pocket he'd be fine. Of course it was shrunk just enough to fit but as small as it would it would just fine. He shuffled them first and then put them on the floor to splay them out so the backs of all of them showed.

Dante figured that way she wouldn't have to come that close to him and she'd feel better.

"See, you pick a card. Any card at all. Then that's where the magic starts."

"Hey..." Harm, thinking that Dante's little self had things under control, followed Dante into the kitchen, leaning against the doorway, "Dante, it's okay."

Her voice was soft, because she was a little concerned. "It really is okay. Nothing happened, if anyone should be upset it should be me for biting you. It was just the only defense I had at the time, you have to understand that being tested on doesn't do much for feeling safe or anything more than a monster. At that point it was kind of just...they make you feel like you can't be human, so why try? She didn't mean to hurt you, but I had serious trust issues."

She bit her lip slightly, pausing before asking, "Are you okay?"

Harm felt a lot better when the adults were out of the room, so when Dante pulled out a pack of cards, she scooted a little closer, intrigued.

"I don't know. We aren't allowed to play games." She whispered, "Or magic. Can you show me?"

She followed his actions as he shuffled the cards, and then watched as he set them on the ground, incredibly curious as to what he was doing. Or how it worked. Or basically it in general. Her arms uncrossed as she reached to pick a card, and she looked at it.

"Do I show you?"
She asked, excited at the concept of a magic trick. Slowly, the black was fading from her gaze.

Dante shut off the water as he heard Harm, and he turned to look at her. He let her explain but shook his head toward the end.

"I'm not mad at you," he told her. "I'm mad at myself for putting us in that situation. I should have listened but I just assumed she wouldn't do anything. My younger self seems to get the situation better than I do."

He just felt bad. Simple enough.

"I'm fine. Startled but fine."

"You aren't? Well that sucks. I wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't play games or do magic tricks."

Dante smiled as she went to pick up a card. He was glad she seemed a bit less afraid now.

"Nope. You remember your card. Now I look away-" He turned to sit with his back to her then. "and you put the card back in the deck anywhere at all. Then shuffle them and when you're done let me know and hand them to me. Then I get to try and pick your card."

"I don't really have time to do those things." Harmony said, holding that card like it was the most precious thing in the world. "I'm supposed to spend ten hours in the testing room and then I am supposed to spend three reading and then go to sleep."

Dante turned to look away, and she looked at her card, and looked back up at him, and set it back in the pack, trying to shuffle the way that he did. It wasn't working though, cards were just ending up everywhere.

"Dante?"
She asked, looking at all of them. "I don't know how to do it right."

"It's only because you're used to me." Harm said, smiling slightly. Now that his hands were washed, it wasn't so bad, so she walked over to him, "You know by now that I would never bite you, or our children. It's been a long path to get there, though. I think I got it all, but we'll get you the potion just in case, and once she's calmed down we can talk to them and figure out how to get them home. Okay?"

She leaned forward and kissed him, repeating, "It's fine."

Only to lighten up the emotions in the room, she teased, "But you taste pretty good, babe."

"I know."

Which he did. He had probably gotten so used to that fact that Harm's warning about her younger self didn't appear to be needed. Apparently he was wrong. But the crisis was over. No need to keep up the tension of it right? He returned the kiss and then couldn't help but laugh at her comment.

"Not everyday someone tells you that you taste good," he told her.

Glancing at the doorway a moment he then looked back at Harm.

"Their getting along pretty good I'd say. My younger self seems to know how to handle this better than I do."

"So you live on a schedule too? I mean I'm supposed to during the summers when I'm home," Dante told her. "One hour of study, one hour with dad, two hours of practice, and by no means am I supposed to speak to my sister's. I obviously don't listen to any of that."

David was nuts to think he was going to control every aspect of Dante's life. He had hidden all his books under his bed that he wasn't allowed to have. When he ran out of room he started taking up floorboards and hiding them there along with pictures Ella drew for him and letters from Rose.

Even the extra house keys were tucked safely away for emergencies when he needed to get himself and his sister's out of the house (since David locked up his wand except for when he had to have it for practice and school).

Hearing Harm he twisted back around.

"That's alright. There's no special way to it," he assured her.

Scooping up the cards that fell and taking the others he put them in a neat pile.

"Rose used to show me all the time before she left. She said it was in the hands or something. See." He shuffled them slower this time to show her and then smiled as he set it on the floor, splayed them out again, and then touched the top. "Alright. Let's see. How about....abracadabra?"

He slid out a card and held it up.

"This it?"

Harm smiled when Dante laughed, glad it was all over. she didn't want him to be upset, of course. Especially over something as small as what happened. Clearly the younger kids were over it, and she and Dante would just have to be careful, that was all. Go a litle slower.

"No? I should start telling you more often." She grinned, and then followed him to the doorway. "Well. Little kids relate to each other easier.' She then mentioned, shrugging. "Sometimes all it takes is someone patient your age. She knows the kids won't hurt her."

Harmony nodded. "Yeah. They're trying to find a way to get rid of the vampire disease. That takes up most of my time."

She wanted to be normal. She wanted to be able to go to Hogwarts, and play games, and cards, and know how to shuffle, and be a normal kid. But she wasn't. She was a monster, something she had just shown.

And yet, Dante was still right there beside her. He had somehow trusted her enough to turn his back on her when she was right there, and he was teaching her how to play cards. It was crazy.

"Abracadabra?" She smiled slightly, and when he pulled up her card, she gasped. "How did you do that?!" She laughed a little, touching it. "Can you teach me?"

"It's weird though. Seeing myself like that. I remember being a lot more miserable than I'm showing," Dante said.

That was the trick though--to act happy. To play pretend. He wasn't really fond of remembering most of those days at all. Turning to look at Harm then he added,

"Sorry by the way. You know, for what you had to go through when you were younger. And here I complained about a crappy family."

"I don't think it's a disease. I mean okay yeah maybe it is, but it's like....say someone who has a really bad temper. It sucks and you want to cure it, but you learn to manage it and it just becomes a part of who you are."

Dante shrugged his shoulder's. At least that was his take on it. Sometimes at school they liked to tease him for reading so much and found all sorts of names to call him with it and he took them in stride. One day he hoped to be Auror and all those names and all those books he risked reading would pay off. Then he could turn around and say I told you so. He wondered if he had managed that or not. Nothing in the house gave away answers to that much.

He smiled when Harm got excited over the card and he then tucked it back into the deck.

"I can try. I'm not that good of a teacher."

Shuffling the cards again he held out the deck to her.

"I learned by trial and error. Then people are usually predictable about where they'll put their card. Like the center? Most likely. Then there's people who assume it is that and they put it on the sides. Then you got a fifty-fifty chance of getting it right." Pausing a moment he then shook his head. "Sorry. Ella usually says I ramble a lot and I never really thought I did till now."

"More miserable?" Harm hugged him, just leaning against him as she watched their little selves. When her younger self smiled, she did too. "I can only imagine that as a kid that would have been hell."

She didn't understand how people could treat their kids like that. She just didn't.

When he said that he was sorry for what she went through, Harm shrugged. "You know? It was hell. They stuck so many needles into me, did so much things, tried to make me do things that no one should be able to do...but you know what? It made me a stronger person. It taught me realllly pick that control was my most important weapon. So do I wish that maybe I wouldn't have started out as a vampire that soon? Yeah. Am I torn up about it? No, not really. You have every right to complain. We all go through our own trials."

"You aren't scared of me." It wasn't exactly a question, but it definitely was an awed statement. Most people were afraid of her. That, honestly was why she felt like such a monster. She was just barely a teenager, and people were terrified to be around her.

But he wasn't.

"...Yeah..." She said slowly, a smile growing wider over her face. Her eyes had faded back to hazel and she was much more relaxed.

The more he talked, the more she smiled, and shyly, she asked, "Who's Ella?"

"Well you know what I mean. I had to hide out in my room all the time."

Most of the time anyways. But hey, he had turned out alright hadn't he? Except for a loss in confidence apparently since he had already seen his younger self was more outspoken.

Dante wrapped his arms around Harm's waist as she leaned against him, smiling as she did so despite the story that followed.

"Seems like it's the worst stuff that makes us our best. But-" He then kissed her cheek. "We're both alright now."

"Of course not," Dante told her even though he figured she didn't expect a response. "You're cool to hang around."

She hadn't said that much sure, but he thought she was nice. Plus if she had to go back to the Ministry for merlin knows what then he could at least make her feel better before that.

"Ella's one of my sister's. I have two others," he answered. "Do you have any siblings?"

"I know." Harm responded gently. She did not like the way Dante had told her that he had been treated as a kid, but there wasn't anything she could do about it. She was still wearing that necklace that she had been given, and it was because of seeing that out of the corners of her eyes that she mentioned, "But other than that, you have a great family. Your sisters, and all your nieces and nephews..."

Just standing in that door frame, hugging and being held by her husband was good enough for Harm right then. Their littles were doing just fine on their own, and she was enjoying just being there, and watching. "We are." She then agreed, smiling when he kissed her cheek. "And just think! We don't have four babies down here right now wondering what was going on. Absolute miracle!"
