Alora sighed. Well that was interesting timing - and it seemed very strange that he didn't seem very upset by it. Or, he did, and he was just very good at masking his emotions. She didn't see how he could be so calm about it all. So she was curious. "Did you love her?" she asked, and then immediately thought better of it. "I'm sorry...I shouldn't have asked that. Umm...we were talking about dinner." |

"Right, dinner," he said, now appearing somewhat distracted. "How about I owl you, ok? Or maybe we'll just see each other around here." Giving her a smile, he paused awkwardly before quickly hugging her. "It was great to see you again," he said before disappearing upstairs to talk to Benniti. |

She hugged him back, very lightly, noticing the awkwardness, and wanted to kick herself for asking him about his girlfriend. Not tactful at all. "That sounds good," she said, and waited until he was out of sight before she allowed herself to smile and go on sorting the files she'd been in the middle of. |

When Llian arrived at work, he nearly tripped over something on the doorstep. Stumbling a bit, he managed to keep himself upright. "What in the name of Merlin was that?" he muttered, frustrated. He was shocked, though, when whatever he had tripped over started...crying? Looking down, he was shocked to find a tiny baby sitting on the steps of the Headquarters, crying. The baby was wrapped in a blue blanket, which Llian assumed meant he was a boy, and lying in a baby carrier. Wondering how long he had been there, considering it was very cold outside, he picked up the carrier and brought it in. The baby was still crying, so, seeing no one around, he picked it up out of the carrier and rocked it gently. 'Hey, it's ok, little guy...now where are your parents?" he muttered, as the baby calmed down a bit. But there was still no one around and no reason for the baby to be there. |

Alora came down the stairs from where she had just left a meeting early, and saw Llian Eppes alone in the middle of the room - holding a baby. "Llian?" she asked, uncertainly, as she crossed towards him to see what was going on. "Who's that you have there?" She honestly didn't expect him to have a child so she figured there was no way the baby could be his - so where'd they come from? |

Llian glanced up, still gently rocking the now-calmed-down baby, and saw Alora. "Hey Alora," he greeted her. "Er...I actually have no idea who this is," Llian said, his confusion sounding through in his voice. He realized that the baby had been abandoned there, but why it had been abandoned there was beyond him. "I sort of...found him...outside," he explained. "I think he was abandoned here." |

She sat down beside him and smiled at the little boy. "Hey there, handsome," she said, then looked up, confusion in her expression, at Llian. "Someone abandoned an angel like him?" she asked. "If you're going to do anything with a child, why not go to an adoption agency, may I ask?" Alora didn't understand how anyone could just abandon a little infant - and especially not one as small, helpless, innocent as this one. "I'm glad you found him," she said, slowly. "So what are we going to do with him?" |

Llian shrugged. He honestly couldn't fathom anyone abandoning a baby, least of all at a government building. "I"m not sure. All I know is that we should get him to an orphanage or something," he said. Paolo Benito, the Italian Head Auror, walked into the room, having heard part of Llian's and Alora's conversation. "No, no orphanage yet, Eppes," he veto'd. "We have to investigate first...see if we can find the parents. Until then, somebody's going to have to take care of him." That said, he headed out of the room to his office. "Someone? And who does he think that will be?" Llian asked indignantly. He didn't know of a single Auror who'd have time for a baby.; |

Alora smiled wistfully. "Oh, I really wish I could," she said. "But I am in no situation to look after a kid...I mean, he needs someone who will -" She trailed off suddenly, her eyes lighting up. "Llian, you should take him. Everyone says babies bring happiness to people and Merlin knows you could use something happy in your life right about now." She didn't know what he'd say to the suggestion. "It'd be a lot of work but you could do it!" Actually, Alora was very proud of herself for that idea. |

Llian turned his attention away from the baby he was holding and looked up at Alora in suprise. "Wait...me?" he asked incredulously. And then he began to think about the idea. Sure, babies brought happiness to people, but it wasn't just about him: it was about the baby. That, and babies didn't only bring happiness...they also brought on a lot of work and responsibility. But then, he was in a situation where he could look after a baby for a week or so. After all, Marina's house was big enough. It's not like it's permanent, so why don't you just do it? he asked himself. It was just like babysitting temporarily. There was no reason why he shouldn't. Besides, there was a strange part of him that felt responsible for the baby. He knew it was crazy, but he had been the one to find him. "Yeah...I guess I could do that," he said finally. |

"You're amazing," she said, smiling - somehow she knew this would be good for him. "I know you'll be able to handle it - and I know you'll be a good temporary-parent. And hey, it's only temporary." She grinned at the baby. "He needs a name - something to call him, at least for now." She giggled a little and held out her hand, watching the baby grasp the tip of her finger. "Maybe you should do that." |

"Thanks," Llian said with a smile. "Well, I sure hope I can't damage him for life in...what is it going to be..a week? Maybe two or three?" He looked down at the baby and grinned, seeing him grasp one of Alora's fingers. He was certainly a very cute baby. "Well...hmm...a name?" Llian had honestly never considered what to name a child, but for a temporary name? He was sure he could think of something. "How about Arram?" he suggested. It was his father's name - as well as his middle name - but he had never been quite sure how he felt about naming people after other people, so he figured, 'why not give it a try?' Glancing down at the baby, who was falling asleep, he tried it out. "Are you an 'Arram'?" He decided that the name fit. "All right...Arram it is, then." A thought suddenly striking him, he said, "I don't have anything to take care of him....I guess I need to make a trip to the store...Merlin, I don't even have clothes for him!" Looking over at Alora, he gave her his best pleading face, asking, "Will you come with me?" |

Alora nudged his shoulder, both playfully and reproachfully. "You're not going to damage him for life!" she said, "And yes, it probably won't be any longer than that - don't worry." She had to smile as she listened to him ask Arram what his name could be - and had to admit she liked the selection. "Arram," she said, testing it out. "That's perfect." At this point, Arram had actually fallen asleep, and so she whispered, "Sleep tight," and then stood, stretching. "Of course I'll go with you," she said. "You're going to need my help - basically any woman's help - to get started, I'm sure." And then she stopped to think - "Is Arram coming with us?" |

Llian laughed at her statement. "Well, thanks for the vote of confidence," he teased. Glancing down at Arram, he said, "Well, I think he should, considering there's no one here to watch him. That and, if he wakes up, he's probably going to be hungry or need to be changed or something, and we'll need to have him with us and the supplied when that happens." He stood up, being careful not to wake the baby and placed him down gently in his carrier. He bundled the blankets a little tighter, considering it was cold out, and he really wasn't sure he had enough on. Arram stirred a little but didn't wake up, for which Llian was very greatful. "Ok, I think we can go now," he said, putting on his own coat and scarf. |

She nodded - "Have to grab my jacket," she said. Hurrying to where her office and room was, she grabbed her coat, and a very warm, wide, long scarf. Coming back out, she tucked the scarf around Arram, over the blanket. She didn't want him to be cold. "You're so very welcome," she added, grinning. "That's what I'm here for - moral support." Alora murmured her consent with his statement about bringing Arram along. "Wise choice," she said, picking up the baby carrier and holding it gently in her arms. "We should walk," she said. "I don't think apparation is good for newborns - and I have no idea how old he is. Can't be more than a few months old, I'd say. Definitely no more than six." |

Llian nodded his consent at her idea of walking. "Yeah, besides, it's good for babies to get fresh air....although he may have gotten a bit too much earlier," he added. "Merlin only knows how long he was out there." He smiled down at the sleeping child in the carrier. "So, where do you think we should head off to first?" he asked. |

She nodded - "Well we can duck into a store if he gets too cold," she said, getting an idea. Taking her scarf back, she cast a charm on it to make it warm - and to keep it warm - and then tucked it back around Arram. "He'll be okay," she said confidently. "And the first place we should go? Food. Food is most important - then we can work on clothes and anything else." She figured if they went to a store they'd be able to find baby food somewhere - she assumed he was past breast feeding, and they could get formula and food, and see what he was interested in eating. |

Llian nodded. "Yeah, food sounds good. He probably hasn't eaten in awhile." He exited the Headquarters with Alora, but then he found that he was suddenly very flustered, and he had no idea what he was doing. "Ok...so where do we go for that? A grocery store? Or...um...do they make stores just for babies?" |

Standing outside, she said, slowly, "The grocery store would have baby food...and I'm pretty sure there's a small shop in downtown, - it's devoted to babies, so we should probably go there afterwards." She had to laugh at how confused Llian was getting - this wasn't what she had expected, but she hadn't seen him since Hogwarts - and besides, she had to think - how would any man react to being charged with the care of a four-month-old baby? [next post at some kind of market/store/thing?] |

Andy had made it to Italy with slight difficulties. She only knew enough of teh language to get her to the Auror headquarters. She had spoken to the head auror and explained who she was and he showed her to a room upstairs. She was going to get to the bottom of Llian's case. She had to know if he was alive or dead, and this was the only way she knew how. |
