Tyler nodded as she spoke; he had known part of the story, for Lynx and him had used to stay up talking late into the night, normally about nothing at all, but there were the nights that had really mattered. And he knew, he definately knew, that there was nothing wrong with Lynx because her parents split. And he definately did not want to bring up the fact that Llian had killed himself; he was amazed she'd been able to say his name so calmly in conjunction with this.

Shaking slightly, he nodded and said, "It sucks, though. Tell me you honestly think that there is something about this situation that doesn't suck. And not the fact that I have a son, because I don't even know him."

He was still shaking.

"Lynx, I don't know my son. My own son, he looked at me, and all I could do was point out where the cake was! He doesn't even know my name. And yes, there are scum bags out there that would say that that's ideal, because I don't have to get involved, or that purposefully left because of a son, but that's not me! I want to know him! And I just.."

He was clenching his fist now, biting his lower lip so hard that he was swearing it was going to bleed, and his eyes were focused on a slight mark on Lynx's shoes.

"..I just want to know him. I want him to know me. That's the only part of this that I know; my son is not going to grow up not knowing his father."

Lynx inched closer to him, putting an arm around him.

"Amour, it's absolutely wonderful that you want to get to know your son, and you should. Believe me, I'm extremely glad you're not one of those people who'd find it convenient that your son knows nothing about you."

She let that statement sit for a moment before adding, "And believe me, I will work with you to find the best possible way for this to all work out. I want you to have your son in your life."

But did she want him to go back to Bridgette? Most. Definately. Not. She didn't know if she could stand that, but she wanted to do everything possible to ensure that Tyler's son knew his father, as much as it pained her to know that Tyler had a child with another woman.

Tyler nodded again, letting a very pregnant silent hang in the air as she promised this, and stayed quiet for a moment. And another. And another, and a few more. Before he really knew it, at least half an hour of silence had passed.

He didn't want to leave, but he knew he had to stop running from the problem, and as such, he shrugged Lynx's arm off his shoulder making up his mind to return to see Bridgette, and talk this over with her.

"Ok. I think I should go see Bridgette. Her and I clearly need to..work this out."

Lynx's eyes flashed in annoyance. She'd been trying to help him, and now he was just blowing her off? And for what? To go talk to her.

She'd bloody sat on top of the bloody cathedral with him for HOW long trying work this thing out? And he was just going to get up and walk away and go see Bridgette so the two of them could work something out?

"Yes, clearly," she said, not really successful in trying to keep the bitter tone out of her voice. "Why don't you go talk to Bridgette and work something out? I'm sure she'll be absolutely thrilled to see you."

A small part of her brain warned her that she was going too far with this, but it was late, and Lynx was tired and highly emotionally confused, and she didn't much care. Perhaps she was a bit - a lot - on edge because of what she was afraid, deep down, of what Tyler would do.

He wouldn't go back to her, would he? A nauseous feeling washed over her just thinking about it.

Tyler was taken aback for a moment, by the suddenly bitter tone in her voice, feeling as though she misunderstood something, but rather instantly angered by the accusatory undertone. Hadn't he just expressed he was hopelessly confused? How could she suddenly think that way- after at least thirty minutes of silence?

"Oh sure, because, that's why I'm going to see her."

He snapped this at her, his tone as laced with sarcasm as hers had been with insinuations. Shouldn't she be actually happy that he wasn't shrinking away from this? Hadn't she just proclaimed to?"

The sarcasm stung, but Lynx was fully aware of the fact that this most likely stemmed from the tone in her voice. But really, how was she supposed to feel when her fiance told her he was going to go "work things out" with his ex girlfriend who happened to have his son?

She was worried. She was worried about the decision Bridgette and Tyler would come to, considering Tyler obviously thought it the 'right thing' for the parents to be together.

"And what if Bridgette asks you to marry her and move back to France? What will you tell her?" she asked quietly, ignoring his remark and figuring that such sarcastic banter would only worsen the situation.

With a tiny exhasperated sigh- starting to get annoyed that Lynx obviously was wondering if he would leave her or not (hadn't he just said he had no idea?), he tried to keep his tone perfectly even and replied,

"Lynx, you should come with me to see her. I certainly don't want any part of this without you."

And he wasn't lying there- he didn't know what was going on..honestly he still was on "bloody HELL- I have a son!" . He hadn't even reached where he was supposed to be to make a decision.

Lynx fell silent, contemplating that statement. Should she go with him? It was a difficult decision, more so than it first appeared. If she went, Bridgette would most likely feel more defensive and be less likely to make any sort of compromise at all.

If she didn't go, she wouldn't be supporting her fiance through what was clearly a difficult time for him, as it would be for anyone. But if she did go, would she seem entirely too mistrustful to him? Because, the truth was, as many surface doubts that she had, she really did trust him, deep down. She trusted him to make the right decision.

So she stood up and embraced him. Hugging him, she said, - a bit muffled, since her head was resting on his shoulder - "Only if you absolutely competely feel that you want me there. Just do what you think is right." As much as she wanted to be there for him, this was, to be perfectly honest, between Tyler and Bridgette. She was there to be Tyler's support system when he needed it, and she really didn't want him to have to try to think about her insecurities as well as everything else he was going through. It just wasn't fair to him.

Slightly surprised when Lynx squashed her hair against his shoulder, a tiny smile flashed across his face and he kissed the top of her head, honestly not having any idea what was going through her head. He was much happier to note that she seemed to be focusing on supporting him, vs. jumping to conclusions about what he was going to do, but saying slowly,

"Well...maybe it should just be me." He said this incredibly reluctantly. "I want to be able to just, talk with her...and if you're there, she probably won't."

He had no idea how he was supposed to make any decision about it when no matter what happened, one of them was going to be very upset. And honestly, though he didn't care if Bridgette was, he knew she wouldn't just..let it drop...but if it came down to hurting Lynx or hurting Bridgette, he was utterly certain it wouldn't be Lynx. He just hoped there was a way to do this without hurting either.

Lynx nodded against his shoulder, easily noting the reluctant tone in his voice. But he had a point. He most definitely had a point.

"To be perfectly honest, I actually thought the same thing," she said, pulling back slightly and looking up at him.

"So," she told him, "you should go. And good luck with talking to Bridgette."

Kissing his cheek, she said softly, "I love you, and I'll talk to you later."

"I love you too," Tyler replied. He looked at her awkwardly for a moment, then disapparated out.

Paris? Ooh-la-la. As for speaking the language...uhm. High school french class suddenly was coming back to haunt her. Oh, she remembered that class (well, it had only been three years ago). There had been a really cute exchange student...

Okay. She really was having a hard time focusing. Focusing had never been her strong point, and add in complete shock and worry, and it was going to entirely go out the window. The constant push and pull of the messed up solve-the-puzzle treasure hunt paired with the very real danger of losing her sister was actually giving her whiplash. Not to mention, she as bloody scared, and she'd always dealt best with fear, with humor.

And she honestly thought it was in bad taste now, which was why she kept her ridiculously twisted and differing thoughts to herself for the time being as she fixed her skirt and brushed her blonde hair back.

Merlin, when Llian said there were "usually artists up here", he hadn't been kidding.

Arriving on the roof of the Montmatre, Kylie just meters away, Emma breathed in the familiar smells of France, Paris, missing the county she, Kevin and Katie lived in, and hadn't seen in a month. The view was spectacular... the rooftop was busy, loads of artists at work and Emma had to wonder ow they were meant to figure out which was the right one.

"Well this won't be tricky at all," she found herself remarking, trying to hide the sarcasm but failing miserably. "Where are we even meant to begin?"

Arriving a few moments later, Tyler stuck his hands in his pocket and started looking around himself. He spotted--her name was Kylie, right?-- and headed to her and Emma's side. He gathered that she was having as little luck as he, but he nodded anyways and said simply,

"So, we look for the vendor with powdered moonstone, figure out how to trade, and then get back yes?"

And he said it in English; amused very very slightly by the fact that he had to remind himself to do so.He'd never been comfortable in the language to begin with, but it wasn't as though living there for three years had left him entirely hopeless at it. He was passable, and he simply laughed along with them if he got the vernacular or grammar incorrect.

Kylie, however, didn't seem to speak it at all- she was at the moment, puzzling out the words "jewelry for sale"- a fact made abundantly obvious by what was pro-offered and the vendor smiling a toothy grin.

"We'll be faster if we split up." He mused; aware that speed was key.

Leslie listened to Tyler, willing herself to let go of the reigns and therefire not pushing to get things done faster than they could. She nodded and waddled off in search for some sort of vendor, she thought to talk to some of that painter, utilizing the very choppy sentence of "Je... besoin... moonstone?" She worked on a small area, going from artist to artist.

As soon as Dante was there he was sure that the idea wasn't the best. He couldn't speak french for one even though he knew a few choppy phrases. Maybe it'd help. Seeing that everyone was splitting up to search he did the same though he wasn't sure what a lot of the signs read.

Llian apparated to the streets of Paris with the others. Seeing as everyone was splitting up, he did as well, slipping nearly effortlessly into French. Of course, he tended to speak it with a slight Italian accent, given that he had lived in Italy so much longer than he'd traveled in French, although he was fluent in French as well as Italian.

Despite the tiny hint of an accent, he was unhindered as he talked to the vendors. Unfortunately, he seemed to be having absolutely no luck.

The painter to whom Leslie was speaking grinned at her attempted French. He spoke back to her in broken English. "You have need of ze poudre of ze stone of moon? I might be able to help you."

He looked for a moment among his things, picking up a letter. It was the same heavy parchment that the solving letters were written on, and the same shimmering silver calligraphy was present on it. "I have for you a letter," the painter explained. "It says I must collect 5 items," he said, clearly having a bit of trouble translating the letter - which was written in his native French - to English for Leslie. "Each one from a different person. Items have to be a token of l'amour. You must part with your items for that I can give you what you need."

----------------------------

Morgan was cold. Actually, Morgan was extremely cold. He had been starting to feel better. He had even started to try and discern where he was - there were, unfortunately, no windows. And he was locked in. It was a tiny little room that contained... a furnace? There were times where he could hear occasional movement, muffled through the door, and he had screamed himself hoarse for help during the times he was lucid enough. Perhaps there was some kind of magic on the room that prevented him from being found. But he was pretty positive that the people outside the door must have been the people who had kidnapped him, for no one ever came.

Besides, who would hide him in plain sight where people were close enough to help him? Only a moron.

He wasn't sure how he had stayed hydrated enough or fed enough. But he thought that there were vague times he remembered someone coming in - apparating - and giving him the essentials for survival. It was barely living. It was the ghost of a life.

And a ghost was what he was going to be if he didn't get out of there soon - he could feel it. Why was there a furnace in there but no way to heat up the room? What was wrong with this thing? The furnace clearly heated a different part of...whatever place he was in. So he sat down on the old mattress that had clearly been dragged in for the sole purpose of keeping him there, drew his knees into his chest to try to conserve body heat, and covered himself with the blanket. It wasn't working very well, but at least it was something.

For now.

Leslie fought back the urge to reach for the moonstone powder. The man she was talking with was really nice, tryng to speak English for her. "We have five people here, you can come with me, and we will go get everything to trade you." She said with a warm smile, thinking it was better to charm the artist than to let her raging hormones make her more impatient.

"A token of love?" She repeated, glancing at her engagement ring. "I have my engagement ring. It can't get much stronger than that, can it? My fiance is sick and I've been with him at the hospital almost every day since he's been in there. You can come with me while I round up everyone and when we're all together, we'll give you our tokens of love."

She set about looking for the next person and seeing that Tyler was the nearest to her. "One of my friends is there." She said pointing at the other man, using the term friend loosely, after this she probably would never see Tyler again and the artist didn't need to know that.

Tyler was too far away initially to overhear what it was the man said to Leslie, but he did see her gesture at him. A bit confused (and still ridiculously overtired), Tyler came over and overed the painter a bit of a smile after realizing what it was he seemed to have.

He was a bit confused as being referred to as a friend, but he decided to go along with it. He knew her name was Leslie..that was more than some, he figured. And strangely- he did kind of consider the solvers to be friends. Or at least...they had a common goal.

"What's going on, Les? How much does he want for it?"

Tyler was really rather more interested in getting in and out as fast-as-possible than doing anything in particular. He could make up whatever form of money it was they were asking for later; that was one thing he was sure of.

And he thought it was a rather crude thing of Beatrice to have done.

What price do you put on a life?

Leslie smiled at Tyler, she'd do him a favour when they got back and would find him a private place to sleep so he could be healthy to take care of his wife. "I have the gentleman with the moonstone. He needs five tokens of love in exchange for the moonstone. I will give up my engagement ring.

I was thinking we'd all get together so we can give him the tokens and get what we need" She hoped the small inflection on the word need would be overlooked by her companion.

"Where is Dante, Emma, Llian, and Kylie?" She asked Tyler before turning to the man. "You need only 5, right?"
