"Well you're full of ideas," he said, standing up hesitantly and wading out deeper into the water, but not jumping or splashing like Keeley. "Wow, you're going to listen to a boring suggestion from me?" He didn't mean to sound annoyed by that - it was just that every time he tried to be safe or careful Keeley did something that was really dangerous, and never ever learned her lesson. Just kept being reckless. "And actually, it is cold..." |

Keeley paused when Cal followed her deeper into the water. Truthfully, she didn't think he would. And she felt a little truiphant that she had managed to have him come with her withOUT doing something dangerous. She felt his annoyance though, and played with a strand of hair. "Well...those antlers weren't the most comfortable and the horsie's eyes were weird..." she said hesitantly, watching the little fish swim around her toes. She stepped out of her flipflops and threw them as hard as she could manage at the moment towards shore, hitting just the edge. She then wiggled her toes into the sandy mud, and took a few more steps so that the water was just under her arms. "Its supposed to be cold..." she said, spinning around slowly in the water. "But if you just give it a few minutes your skin will get used to it..." She watched Cal for a moment. "Please just play with me? My methods of getting you to have fun isn't working really well..." she admitted, thinking about her sugar high, and her little dive off the stairs, and her 'dance'. Though she had done them without thinking, and had fun while doing so, she could now acutely realize he wasn't. |

“Oh I’m sure I’ll get used to it,” Calvin said, slightly sarcastic. He had to agree with her – the antlers were not fun, neither was getting thrown into a lake, and neither was watching her fall off the banister. Of course she probably thought some of that was fun… He shrugged, and pulled his soaking-wet socks and sneakers off, bringing them to the waters edge and setting them down, moving Keeley's out of the water as they were beginning to drift away. And then she asked if he could play with her - and he felt absolutely awful. He wasn't having fun. But maybe he could try a little harder - she sounded so forlorn. Clearly, she was trying to make things more enjoyable, she just...wasn't very good at it. Yet, thinking back over it all - sure, to some extent and on some level it had been enjoyable - so maybe... Maybe he needed to finally listen to Kat, and loosen up. He gave Keeley a haphazard smile, and said, "Uhm....sure." In complete earnestness. |

Keeley sighed as the rush of emotions fell over her, and she made a face in an odd attempt to block it out. "I think I need to stop...thinking. I'm getting a headache." She watched him place their shoes properly at the edge of the lake, and she walked out further until she had to tread water. Which wasn't very far. She closed her eyes and smiled, floating on her back for a moment. She really did love the water, almost as much as Cal loved animals. "See? Already getting warmer..." she said brightly, unable to stay still and float. She slipped underneath the water and swam to Cal like a fish. Popping out of the water right in front of him, she laughed. Just catching his smile, she tilted her head, and for the very first time, was completely willing to do whatever he wanted to do. "So what do you want to do? We can...walk back home and you can read to me...if you want..." She offered, looking over his shoulder at the house in the distance. |

Cal nodded. "Stopping is good. I don't say we have to go all the way back and read a book," he said, still trying to figure out what was going on with her emotions. He was going to have to find out more about what was happening to her - and if...if he had known more about it he might have said it sounded like something special, magically. Empathy - but he had only read about it, never encountered it, and he knew hardly anything. "Well...I do say we might want to get out of the water - I try to stay away from fresh water. There's this amoeba, and it's really small, and it eats your brains - enters through your ear. Maybe we should stay away from those." He smiled, he meant it lightly, but they were real - if rare - and he needed something to get Keeley out of the water. "So let's do something that...doesn't involve a moose? And doesn't involve a freezing cold lake." He smiled - if he made more of an effort to have fun, then Keeley would be happier, and for some reason he wanted Keeley to be happy. And if she was feeling his emotions, then she would know if he was faking it or not - so he was really going to have to let himself loosen up. |

Keeley stared at him for a moment, wide eyed, speechless. Brain eating...enters your ears and ... She paled, looked down at the water she was in. After being quiet and still for a few moments, she shrieked, covered her ears, and ran as fast as you can in water, out. Now standing on the shore, she squeezed out her clothes, and shivered in the near-winter wind. "I like my brain!" She cried, still covering her ears. "What if it was already in my ear! And now I'm blocking it in!" She dropped her hands. "But what if it was on the water in my hair then it'll get in!" She covered her ears again, freaking out. Squeezing her eyes shut, she ridiculously decided that if she couldn't see it, then it wasn't on her. But she still felt the psycological feeling of something under her skin. She was too busy freaking out to realize that Cal wasn't worried about it. And it was cold. She was soaking wet, seeing as she swam out deeper, not even taking into account that it was almost winter. |

He smiled and followed her out, wringing out the hem of his shirt and shaking out his legs, trying to get rid of some of the water. "I like your brains too," he said, slowly, "And they're rare - but we don't want to take a chance, do we?" He shook his head. "I don't think it'd be in your ear already, and if it is..." He stopped, went up really close to her, and looked into both of her ears carefully. "Nope, none in your ears," he said. Of course he couldn't really see them but maybe Keeley wouldn't realize that an amoeba is microscopic, and he could get her to calm down. "You're freezing," he said, and gave her a hug to try to warm her up. He didn't really think about it - they were friends, and he was trying to make her feel better. "And I'm sorry if you're scared about the amoebas. I checked, and you're okay." |

Keeley was wondering what he was doing when he walked up extremely close to her, but she trusted him and put her hands down slowly. When he proclaimed she was okay, Keeley let out a deep breath she hadn't realized she was holding, and succumbed to his hug, resting her head onto his dry <_< shoulder. "I am freezing." She agreed, but honestly, now that she was a little bit calmed down, she didn't care. "Are you sure there is none?" She felt a lot better when he hugged her though, because she was a very touchy-feely type of person, and it was comforting. She finally payed attention to his calmness, and allowed it to calm herself down too. "So whatcha wanna do?" she asked cheerfully, raising her head back up to look around. Oh, the possibilities... |

He smiled when she put her head on his shoulder. He liked standing with her like that, because he was able to make her feel better. He knew she was calmer because she stopped freaking out about covering her ears and she stayed still which was a miracle in itself. "I'm positive," he said warmly. "There's a lot of things we could do...for now, want to just walk? I mean, there's places I can show you - I lived here for nine years, I know this area." He smiled at her, still hugging her very loosely. "How does that sound?" |

"Okay." Keeley relaxed a little more, leaning against Cal more as the wind blew more. She knew he was probably chill too because his bottom half was wet as well. She held even stiller, because she somehow realized his warm tone, which she loved hearing, came from the fact she wasn't being spastic. "Walking sounds...good..." Keeley said, clenching her jaw to keep from chattering. She'd warm up in a moment. With them walking and such. "Nine years? Can you speak..." she had to think for a moment. "Scottian?" She was thinking Italian, except for with Scotland. "Sounds good then!" She didn't want to let go of him though, he was warm. |

Calvin shook his head. "Keels, you're freezing," he said, worried. He didn't have a jacket or sweater, or really anything he could give her to keep her warm - which was hard for him because he wanted to help her, so he kept his arms around her, and rubbed her back to keep her warm. "Shall we walk, then?" |

Keeley curled up closer, and then took one of his hands, and turned herself around so she was then nestled under one of his arms and they could walk. She smiled when he rubbed her back. "I'll be okay. If we move then I'll get warm!" she said. It sounded like a smart thing to say, but honestly, she just knew she was hot after running around, and cold when she stayed still. She rubbed her nose and looked around. "So do you Cal? Speak..." She suddenly remembered the correct term. "Scottish? I can speak Italian. Coz my mummy only speaks it. And my daddy only speaks English. And where are we going?" Her voice trembled a little bit, but otherwise she didn't show any sign that she was cold. |

Calvin shrugged - he saw that she was shivering a little and said, firmly, "We're going back to Kat's house to get you a change of clothes and a blanket." Nevermind the temptation of the banister to slide down, or all the other dangerous things that could happen when Keeley was around, he wasn't going to let her stay cold and wet. Keeping her arm tucked through his, he said, "Does that sound okay to you?" |

Keeley shrugged, forgetting about her question. "Hokie." She walked with him quietly for a moment, before asking another question. "Cal why can I tell what your feeling? I'd ask my mummy but she's at home..." a pang of homesickness hit her, and she fell silent yet again, before continuing. "and you'e so smart!" She smiled and nudged him with her shoulder, though it was a little difficult with their linked arms. "Hey! We can make hot chocolate and marshmellows!" she said excitedly, already moving on. |

"Sure, hot chocolate sounds good," he said, smiling. He was going to give having fun a try - and he was going to give Keeley another chance, because she was most definitely starting to grow on him, and he didn't like her being upset. "I think you have a special magical ability," he said, as he began walking towards the house, which he couldn't make out through the trees. "I've only read about it - it's called empathy, and it enables you to sense others' emotions." |

Keeley grinned back at him, but then frowned at his news. "Well...thats no fun." She said, slightly sulkily. "I don't wanna feel annoyed allllll the time." Okay, so she wasn't as naive and oblivious as she looked. But, she had serious issues with...being serious. Once she saw the house, a few moments after Cal did, she started skipping, very slowly, so that Cal wouldn't have to speed up or let go of her arm. Because she kind of liked it there. "I'm glad we came to Scotland Cal!" She said, randomly stepping in front of him and hugging him, stopping the forward motion with an abruptness. Did she remember she was wet? No. So was she purposely trying to create a collision and get Cal cold as well? No. She laughed. |

Calvin smiled at her, but then frowned - "I'm not always annoyed," he said, defensively. But he didn't press the matter because she dropped it and stated walking. So he followed her. "I'm glad you came along," he confessed, realizing that he did mean it - even though he'd been frustrated all the time, he had, on some level, had fun. When she stopped suddenly and he basically walked into her, however, he frowned - And then he remembered that she could feel his emotions, and immediately he felt his thoughts lighten - like he didn't want her to know he was annoyed that he was now even wetter, or that he'd walked into her. So instead he just hugged her back. After a long moment, he said, "House?" |

Keeley just bit her lip and giggled, before allowing, "Okay, not all the time..." When he said he was glad she came along, and she could tell he really meant it, she smiled incredibly wide, but didn't say something. Because if she had, she probably would have squealed, thats how triumphant she felt. He didn't hate her! Well, obviously, since he was taking care of her, but on a friendship level. Keeley nearly stumbled back, but was laughing, and didn't care. "Oopsie Daisy. Note to self- try not to hug someone while walking?" She grinned when he hugged her back- he had seemed so stiff when she first started hugging him, that it had unconsciously became her goal to make it more comfortable to him. Not to mention, her cure for everything was hugs. When he mentioned the house again, she exclaimed, "Oh yea!", turned around, glanced back and Cal, and grinned micheviously. "Last one there is a rotten moose!" She still didn't get what that was, but took off, her short legs pumping. Her laughter once again filled the otherwise silent air. [[ooc-lmao I can see her doing something utterly klutzy or crazy right about now...like attempting to do a handstand after running into it or something...lollll]] |

Calvin let himself smile and brush off the entire incident - they were almost home. He nodded and followed after her, running - not even thinking to himself that he never did that. He was thin and delicate, but he wasn't used to running - and so fell behind her the entire way there, never catching up. "Not fair," he called, "you had a head start!" Keeley had nearly reached the house when she decided to attempt an on-the-move-cartwheel. She could do it, starting still, but running? Maybe she could do two! Reaching a flatish, rock-free stretch, Keeley raised her hands over her head and started the downward motion... ...Only to find herself sitting hard on her tush seconds later, not knowing what even happened. She was shocked into silence, her heavy panting the only sound, as she just booked it up a hill, and then she shrieked, again with laughter, and fell backwards to lay flat. "You're a...you're a rotten moose..." Keeley got out, breathless from her run, her fall, and her ridiculously loud laughter. She wasn't cold any more- her cheeks were flushed and she wasn't shivering. "Cal! Cal! Did chu see that?" |
