Llian followed Marina into a nice cafe, L'Ambrosia. The place seemed like a comfortable place to eat, and he had a feeling he'd like it there. He and Marina were seated fairly quickly and given menus. |

Carlie walked down the aisle between tables and stopped short when she saw who she had to wait on. Marina. Her stupid, rotten cousin. And she was with Llian. Who apparently did know her. "How may I help you today, Mari? Llian?" She smiled at him, and tried to smile at Marina, but it wound up looking much more like she was baring her teeth. |

Marina smiled at Llian, and then her face broke out into a grin when Carlie approached the table. "Carlie!" she said, happily. "I was hoping to run into you. Umm...just give me your favorite, or whatever is the best breakfast food." |

"Hi Carlie," Llian greeted her with a smile. "I'm pretty good. How are you?" Just looking at the face Carlie made when she saw Marina made Llian think that this was probably going to be a very long lunch. |

Carlie nodded and wrote something down for Marina - it definitely wouldn't be Carlie's favorite food. She then smiled easily at Llian. "I'm decent myself," she said, as she kept wondering why he was out with Marina. "Can I get you something?" |

Llian nodded and returned her smile. "Sure," he said. "Can I just get the breakfast frittata with a cappucino?" He was surprised at how easily he was falling back into the Italian style of living, even with eating: small breakfast, extremely large lunch, midsized dinner late at night. Hopefully his Italian wouldn't stay as rusty as it had been. Though he remembered it all, his tongue still needed to get used to speaking it again. |

Carlie nodded once, all forced-perky, and gave Marina her best death-stare when she was sure only Llian could see it. She gave him a lopsided grin, and then said - "Be back in a few minutes, hang in there..." From her expression, the last bit was obviously directed at Llian - Carlie had no idea what was going on between them. |

Llian smiled at Carlie and tried not to laugh when she gave Marina a death glare. He probably shouldn't have wanted to laugh, considering he'd just slept with the woman, but he did. Well, no matter. It wasn't like they were in some sort of relationship or anything. As Carlie walked away, he turned to Marina and said, "So, just out of curiousity, what's your favorite breakfast food?" Well, the conversation had to start somewhere. |

"I don't have a favorite," she said, with a cheeky grin. "I take my chances with what I can find in the kitchen and what Carlie serves here, or what I get wherever else I can go.” She wrapped one arm around herself, and fiddled with the salt shaker on the table. “Pancakes are nice,” she added, as a side-comment. “But I try not to select one food over another.” She tipped her head and looked at him - “What's your favorite?” |

Carlie came back levitating their food and setting it down on the table. “Enjoy,” she said. And then suddenly she thought of a brilliant way to annoy her cousin – it seemed Marina and Llian had come together. In the morning. Which meant either something had happened or Marina had burned breakfast. Squeezing into the booth beside Llian, she said, “Mind if I sit? I get break now anyway.” |

Well, there was something they had in common. "I don't really have a favorite either. I make it a habit to try all sorts of different things," he told her. Carlie came back with their food and then sat down next to Llian. "No, I don't mind at all," he said politely. And he really didn't. Carlie was a nice person, very fun to talk to. The only problem was her dislike of Marina and the fact that Marina was completely and utterly oblivious to it. |

Marina frowned, more than slightly, as Carlie was suddenly occupying the space next to Llian. She tried to focus on the coffee cake she had in front of her, but wanted Carlie gone. She finished eating all too quickly, and said, “Oh – I think I left something in the oven – Llian, I hate to cut breakfast short but maybe we should head back? Or you can come...later...” she said, in a tone that clearly said he'd better go now. |

Llian shrugged. He'd finished breakfast anyways, and he didn't want to make Marina mad at him, considering she was letting him stay at her place. "It's fine with me," he told her casually. Glancing over at Carlie, he gave her an apologetic look and said, "I guess I'll see you later then?" |

Carlie frowned back at him, then let herself smile, very sympathetic to Marina's whims. And she'd been completely expecting this - it was what happened when her cousin got jealous. "No problem," she grinned. "See you later." She stood, slowly - "Meal's on me. Toodles!" Then she walked briskly back towards the kitchen. |

Marina stood also, and forced herself not to drag Llian out of the restaurant. They walked back to her house, not too deep in conversation but keeping it from an awkward silence. [permission to GM given] |
