Conner smiled at Gemma as she responded but was too busy listening to her to notice Leslie attack him with a plastic bottle until it had made contact with his head. Cowering with his hand rubbing the spot where it had it, he glared at her. "That was a little under the belt, Dukey! Did you not see I was listening to Gemma?" On hearing her mention telling his sister, he sighed. "I'm sorry... Please don't tell on me... She'll kick me where it hurts..." He said quietly before turning to Gemma, nodding in agreement with what she had said. "Thats a good way of looking at it. I mean, with his job, having to keep all us lot in check, its not that much of a surprise... I turn to alcohol after one day of working with Les..." He smirked, leaning as far back in his chair as he could, away from Leslie. |

Gemma's pleasure at the compliments to her idea was only slightly tempered by the behavior of her fellow employees. Did they always hit each other with water bottles? She shot a wary look at Tanya who seemed to radiate some kind of aura of leadership. With her eyes only, Gemma tried to ask 'Do they always act like this?' She wasn't sure the message would get across, so she lifted a single eyebrow at Tanya to emphasize her point. To the healer brandishing the water bottle and the healer still recovering from its blow, she merely said "Thank you." Hoping to turn the conversation back to sensible matters, Gemma politely asked, "Which floor do you work on, Leslie?" |

Dea was content to sit back and just observe (or completely zone out, whichever), but the longer they talked, and played around, the more ridiculous things got. And of course, half-way thorough she recieved a letter. One that she kinda wanted to go to. "I travel around with Healer Chris Daniels." Dea answered quietly, "Who's probably looking for me right now." Though she'd never actually said anything about her...em, condition, she had a feeling that Tayn knew. Chris did. She'd been honest with him from the get go. So as she stood up, she looked the other woman in the eye, and seriously said (though there was a slight twinkle to let them know she was only half kidding), "Or some of us with specific ...talents could...take out the problem." That said, Dea smoothed down her coat and smiled, "I'll see you guys later, I have to run." And run she did. She was missing out on the reunion! |

"I would liek to let you know, Gemma, that if Conner is around, most people become a third of their age in order to match their maturity with his..." She said with a devious smile to Conner. He was so lucky that he moved out of her reach or she'd have hit him again, this time playfully though. "I would like to reassure you Conner that even after 5 months, Gabe still hasn't resorted to liquor." She retorted though she neglected to mention about the one night stand and the night they decided to date how it was driven with a little alcohol. "And I work on the second floor." She told Gemma |

Tayn was honestly a bit amused, and ...distracted. When they were like this, she tended to just retreat bemusedly into her work, which was what she was doing as she poured over the file in front of her. She raised her own eyebrow back at Gemma in response with a non-commital, bemused shrug, as if to say, "Yes...". Seeing Gemma seize back the conversation a bit, Tanya nodded in approval with her points, and said simply, "I agree." She paused. "And I think at the very least, the Board has to know. The rest is out of our hands, that's up to them. Who's made the new director..." She bit her lip, trying not to look too hopeful, and shuffled her feet beneath the chair. |

Leslie couldn't help but roll her eyes the tiniest. It would seem likelier that Chris would be made Director over his wife. He was a child prodigy when it came to this place, an absolute expert at what he did. Leslie had nothing more that the deepest respect for him, just she thought he was too bitter for her liking. Then again, she also didn't let the gaze Tanya made in her direction, making her feel all the more insecure about the rolls she was getting. Sure, she was starting a second chin and she was getting a bit of a tummy, ut nothing that healthier eating and exercise couldn't fix. She instead tried using her arms to cover her stomach. Her attempt to get healthy again would start soon. Edited by Leslie Law, Nov 17 2008, 04:26 PM.

At Leslie's remark, Gemma grinned. "That explains a lot," she allowed. There was something about the way Leslie said that, however, that made Gemma want to prove her wrong. Almost without noticing it herself, Gemma sat up just a little straighter in her seat and took a small, prim sip of her tea. She almost ruined her attempt at aging herself when she caught Tanya's response to her unspoken query. The older woman's expression was so nonchalant that Gemma very nearly broke out in a giggle. Luckily, she managed to turn it into a cough, however, and hurriedly took a sip of her tea to cover it up. "What exactly would happen if the director were to be fired?" she asked, hoping it wouldn't affect her job. Gemma tried to make her face a mask, but a little bit of worry was showing in the tiny crease between her eyebrows, her sign of being nervous. |

Leslie laughed remembering how it was like trying to impress other healers, not only as an acolyte, but now as a healer. "I remember the last couple years being an acolyte. Which floor are you going to be working on?" She asked, pinching Gabe's cheek to make sure her boyfriend was still alive. "Well, I think if the director is unseated from his position, whoever is currently under him will take over until the board finds a suitable replacement. I know I am in no danger of being picked, I've been a Healer only since April." That she was happy for, she was too high strung in the first place, let alone what she would be in a job with even more stress. She felt her stomach churn. "Well, the stomach flu is getting the best of me, so I have to go." She said, kissing Gabe quickly and dashing out of the cafeteria, abandoning her coffee with her boyfriend. Conner smirked and shook his head. "...And I'm technically too 'dangerous' to be made into Director, so Im in no immediate danger, that is, unless the Board loses a grip on their reality and fire all the decent Healers.... But thats not going to happen..." He agreed with Leslie's comment. Watching with suspicion as the other got to her feet, claiming sick with 'stomach flu', he watched her disappear, thoughts in his mind for his colleague. As the doorway became vacant of her presence, he shook himself out of his reverie, returning to the table. "Excuse me... Need to go and check on some of my lovely ladies in the Maternity Ward..." He said quickly. "...and did you know that one of them has called their child Bronx Mowgli? I tell you, celebrities these days... Set a precedent for uncommon names and the regular people like us start thinking it will work too..." Shaking his head with a small smile, he disappeared in the same direction as Leslie had done and turned up the staircase. |

Leslie came in with a dull ache in her back... and her acolytes assured her it was normal even for this early on in the pregnancy. She got a juice and pancakes before moving to a table with her Witch Weekly magazine, looking at the recipes. She felt bad, when she was home with Gabe, she cooked really healthy and then she came to work and indulged in her cravings. She was just happy breakfast was still being served, because the craving of pancakes just wouldn't go away. |

Conner ran into the cafeteria, hoping he could catch the last servings of Breakfast before having to start his second shift in Paediatrics. "Pan... cakes... Ple...ase..." He panted, leaning heavily on the counter as the witch behind smiled and nodded, coming back a few minutes later holding a large stack on a plate. "Syrup?" She asked in a sickly sweet tone. Conner shook his head. "No thanks... And a Mango juice too please..." He reached and put the plate and the bottle of juice on a tray before paying her and walking towards the table area. He looked around, trying to see if he knew anyone there already so he wouldn't look like a loner eating by himself but could only see a blonde eating, and a couple of dark haired Acolytes holding their heads and breathing in coffee fumes. He walked past the table where the blonde was, sitting on the one in front of her, facing her but not recognizing her. |

Leslie took a breather from the article she was reading to see Conner sitting across from her. "Oh thanks... you don't want to sit with me... I understand... You just don't associate with blondes, do you?" she asked, trying to sound put off, but smiling while she said it. "Come have breakfast with me.... I assure you I don't bite too hard..." She giggled then turned to her pancakes to take a bite. |

Conner was mid-slurp of his juice when he heard the girl in front speak, sounding a lot like Dukey but with blonde hair. It took him a few moments to recognise her and he choked and coughed as the juice went down the wrong hole. "Damn.... Did you get attacked by a kid thinking you were a Girl's World?!" He grumbled out as he picked up his tray and moved to sit opposite her. "Damn... Why did you get more pancakes than I did? Im much better looking than you are...." He muttered. |

Leslie grumbled too. "This is my natural hair colour..." she told him before smirking. "There is a really good reason why I got more pancakes." She stood up to show him the quite obvious belly. "The lady told me that I needed to keep them nice and full." She laughed before sitting back down. "They didn't pop out until I went home to Canada." |

Conner dropping his fork as she stood up and he saw her enlarged stomach. "Whose is it?" He yelled, accidentally. The two acolytes turned and stared at them for a few seconds, obviously disgruntled by the loud noise in their hung-over states. "Sorry... Any other surprises? Before you give me a heart attack?" He asked hoarsely. "And what do you mean... 'them'?" |

Leslie whacked Conner upside the head when he yelled it out. "Who do you think the baby belongs to?" she hissed at him. "Gabe's the father and I am going on my 14th week or so." She continued in her hiss. "Gabe asked me to move in before we left for our vacation because the baby shouldn't have to grow up between two homes. But otherwise... nope... no more surprises..." she said with a smile. |

Conner winced as he stabbed himself on the roof of his mouth with his fork, thanks to Les' slap. "Owwwwwuch!! Damn it!" He cursed quietly as he looked at her. "So things are serious, huh? Moving in together... having a baby... Can I expect wedding bells soon too?" He smirked. "And how was your vacation? Where did you go again?" |

"The baby... let's just say wasn't planned... and the moving in although was going to happen one day was sort of moved closer because of the baby, and no... no wedding bells. Baby Law will just have to settle for unmarried parents." she smiled. "And we went to Canada for Christmas and well Gabe's still alive, so it went well... my dad pretty much hid in the garage all day Christmas after we kind of sprung it on them... I bought them 2 plane tickets so they can be here when the baby is born, and my dad took the tickets out of the envelope and the sonogram picture fell into his lap and I thought he was going to have a heart attack..." she admitted, blushing. "I just have to interview someone tomorrow morning because I am trying to find someone to take over my lease so Gabe and I can move in together. It ends in May... and well... that's a bad month... I will be around seven months along and we have a wedding to go to in Canada... my best friend is marrying my ex's brother, so it'll be the first time he and I see one another since he ditched me in my wedding dress..." She said, still smiling because she had Gabe who'd be by her side and it wasn't as if they were unhappy, they were actually sometimes really lovey and sappy. |

"Baby Law? Its taking his name?" Conner asked quietly as he shoveled his pancakes into his mouth. "And why cant you get married? I need to go to a good party!!" He whined, before listening to her tell him about her daddy's reaction to her pregnancy and future trip to Canada for her friend's wedding. "Ohhh Daddy doesn't like that his little girl is pregnant out of wedlock! And do me a favour... Kick him in the unmentionables for me... Hurting my friend like that..." He smiled at her, eating another mouthful of his pancakes |

"Yes, I plan to give the baby his last name.... personal choice of course, not that we've discussed names really. But we're not getting married because he's not ready, and I don't think I could do it. I'd love to, but not now. I love Gabe but if he strolled in here and proposed, I don't know if I'd say yes... I just worry that it'll happen again even though I've been proven otherwise so far. Not to mention, we're quite happy the way we are. Yeah... Daddy isn't too happy, but he's at least happy that Gabe is sticking around and asked me to move in." She said then laughed when he suggested what she ought to do to her ex. "I promised my best friend that I'd cause no trouble if he started none... but if he starts, I am going to go in for the kill... that's what I learned in the law office when I worked there. When you smell the blood, you go for the kill." She told him and ate more pancakes |
