"Oohh. I'm Deanna James. Acoylte. Don't worry, you're not alone!" Dea smiled, looking at Tayn when she 'supposed' she was Healer Daniels, amused.

She'd never ever been to the cafe for a quick break and had more than one staff in there, and never had any of them actually sat down. "Slower night?" She assumed, as hers was a little less hectic than the morning had been.

"Hey Leslie." She then greeted, covering her mouth as she yawned.

Gabe grinned. The cafeteria was now awash with white coats. It was amazing really, when there was the staff room but this had always been his preferance to the stuffy room with uncomfortable sofas - it was me relaxed.

"Coffee break? Well my official one's not scheduled for another hour but no babies want to pp out at the current moment so I slipped down here for an unschedled breather," he grinned in greeting, as Dea joined them. "I'm in the Maternity ward," he explain, turning back to Gemma once she had shaken Tanya and Dea's hands. His face broked out into a grin as he spotted a familiar figure push through the double doors, yawning just as he had and and Leslie came to a hault before them in a somewhat... Frenchish accent, happily reached out pulling her into his lap in greeting, kissing her on the cheek. "Good evening. Why're you yawning? I thought you were just starting your shift?"

"Hey Dea!" She waved at the acolyte. Leslie squeeked as Gabe pulled her into his lap and she laughed. "Evening." She yawned again and rested her head on his shoulder. "I did just start, but I've been exhausted lately... I could sleep twelve hours and still be tired." She looked to Tanya and nodded. "Yup, I'm Leslie. I assume you're Tanya. I've talked to Chris a few times." She said warmly.

She looked to the new girl. "I'm Leslie Duke, I work in Magical Diseases."

Tanya's eyebrow arched amused. She'd have commented on the professionalism, but considering her and Chris's situation...best to remain silent. She therefore only averted her eyes and took another sip of her coffee. At the comment, she nearly choked on the sip. Scalding hot coffee. Nice.

"Oh, yes, right." She said attempting to cover it, her eyes watering and reaching for a napkin. Well, that was a bit embarrasing. Of course Chris would be keeping up the pretense as well. "It's a bit slower..." She paused.

"Although actually, I've been wondering how to talk to you all about this, so." And although there were acolytes there---she knew Dea obviously, and Gemma didn't really seem to bother her, besides being nice-- she pulled up the file from her briefcase and laid it down.

"I ... think we might be able to get rid of the director." She patted the file, blinking a bit. "Blu sent me this. It's... telling of a certain alcholic problem of our dear director."

"Pleased to meet you Deanna, Leslie," Gemma politely said with a smile still plastered on her face. She was glad that the introductions seemed to be over, at least for the moment. Her cheeks were beginning to hurt. She was also glad that she wasn't the only acolyte there, it was less stressful. Taking another sip of her tea, Gemma reflected on the information that she had.

"So we've got one in the maternity ward, and one in magical diseases. What about you, Tanya? Deanna?" Gemma remarked conversationally. Hopefully the more experienced workers could give her a better idea of where she might like to end up.

Before she could get an answer to her question, however, Tanya pulled a file from her briefcase and mentioned something about a director. Gemma assumed she was talking about the director of St. Mungo's, but decided it would be prudent to wait and hear what the response of the others was before butting in. She didn't want to seem too cheeky. So instead, she took a sip of her tea and look interested. But then a certain phrase used by Tanya caught her attention and Gemma couldn't keep silent.

"Alcoholic? We have an alcoholic director? Are you bloody serious?" Gemma asked incredulously. It was a good thing that her cup of tea hadn't been in her hands at the moment.

"Head of Potions and Plant Poisoning...but I work on trauma cases as well." Tanya responded easily, as her department was honestly one of her favorites. Including the pager that was strapped to her waist at all moments of course, she had the trusty peppermint leaves in her pocket. "And I'd be quite happy to help you out if you were interested in the specialty.." She would. Of course she already had an Acolyte- but Kat was near enough to graduating that it really wasn't a problem of helping more.

Tanya flashed a bit of a bitter smile towards Gemma and said patting the folder, "Oh, that's just chapter one." She knew the others there already were well acquainted with the Director's rather unethical procedures (her marriage being one of them)-- and his remarks about trying to close them all down and fire them. She had forgotten for a moment there just how new Gemma was to their hospital and she said with an easier smile,

"I believe it was Blu that said this first." She said conversationally, brushing back a strand of her hair. "Oh, Gemma, Blu is...well, you've probably heard of her actually, considering..." She cut off, and knew that Blu's case had been all over the Prophet. How ridiculous-- a Healer is diagnosed with a deadly disease of Malnesda, and all of a sudden her addiction to the cure drug, Tripisn, puts her in danger of losing her job. Ugh. Another reason they needed to get rid of this director.

"But it's been a tad ridiculous, hasn't it? We're overworked, understaffed...treated awfully, underpaid...it's time we put a stop to it." And she patted the manilla once more. "And this could give us the option."

"Well Tanya, if the juice isn't affecting his job performance it shouldn't matter. Yeah we're over worked, but this year has been a fairly bad year for us getting acolytes and having healers..." She thought twice about saying it when she looked at Gemma. "Find other jobs..." She finished, but she meant to say die, she remembered seeing Carter after Appo had died.

"Anyways, I will be the first to complain about being overworked and underpaid, but what happens IF the director is fired? Who will take his job and will they be any better?" She tried to rationalize, but never taking her head from Gabe's shoulder.

Conner slumped into a chair opposite the rest of the other Healers. Casting a glance around, he realised it had been a long time since he had last seen this many Healers in the same place at the same time.

"Aww, how sweet..."

He smirked in Gabe and Leslie's direction, before glancing around.

"What's everyone doing? Plotting our escape?"

Leslie had heard Conner's comment and she looked up to see him looking at her and Gabe and she blushed furiously. "Yeah, you can't have him, so don't try, Hellier." She said playfully glaring at him. The two usually badgered one another playfully in the hallways.

"And we're not planning our escape, we're planning our new clubhouse so that you can't come in." She giggled, yeah she was 31, but still acted like she was 11 from tiem to time.

Laughing inwardly at Leslie's reply, he pouted.

"Awww, Dukey!" He cried, placing his hand on his chest. "I'm hurt that you don't want to share with me!"

Laughing slightly, he rolled his eyes.

"Pfft, I'll start my own clubhouse... And I'll get all the Acolytes to join mine!"

Still continuing in the childish manner, he stuck his tongue out before grinning.

"Now seriously... What happened?" He gasped sharply. "Don't tell me that the coffee machine in the staff room has died?!" He said dramatically, plucking the most obscure thing he could think of out of his mind.

Leslie laughed for a couple moments then got serious. "Blu found some stuff out about the director and Tanya here is looking for our support to get him fired I believe?" She asked, looking briefly at Tanya. "I am not so sure about it. Yeah theres a lot of stuff going down, but I would like to keep my job if this fails." She said, looking at the closed file on the table, not sure what to think. She knew that with her's and Gabe's relationship coming out at work now, that they may end up being watched like Tanya and Chris are.

Conner's eyes lit up.

"Oooh, what dirt has been dug up on him? Anything juicy?"

For a male, and a straight one at that, he was an avid gossipmonger, sometimes spending his entire break with the nurses catching up on the goings on of the entertainment world.

"And why do we want to get him fired? I agree wholeheartedly that he's a pain in the ass, but isn't everyone's boss?"

He reasoned.

"Or is the stuff Blu found out like, really bad?"

Tayn was whispering to Gemma that this was Conner, as the poor girl was appearing overwhelmed with the introductions, but she tilted her head back and pushed the manilla towards Conner herself. "See for yourself." She said with an inclined head. "He's an alcoholic...they've kept that pretty hush, hm? And if we were to notify the Board...well.."

She flicked her gaze over at Leslie to nod that she was answering her earlier question. "I would assume one of our own heads would get the promotion." And she could get divorced.

Which was so not the reason she was pressing for it.

"And I'd definitely believe any one of us here would be better." She said with an easy smile. "We wouldn't have to be worried about our personal lives being affected, wouldn't worry about...any of that." And she was looking at Leslie and Gabe as she said it. They were being as public as she'd had to be to get the non-Dea/Gemma-Acolytes to stop harping on her and Chris.

Raising his eyebrow as he flipped open the file, he quickly read the contents.

"Bloody hell... "

He breathed.

"How did Blu find this out?" He looked up. "And you mean to say the Board don't already know?"

He questioned, turning back to look at Leslie.

"...and talking about personal lives - what have you been eating, Dukey, small people?"

He frowned, noticing for the first time the weight which she seemed to have gained.

Leslie shrugged when she watched Tanya look at her and Gabe while talking about personal lives. "We maintain a very strict boundary between work and home life, and rarely do the two mix, like now." She saod a little indignantly.

She heard Conner and her eyes buldged out of her head while wrapping her lab coat closer to her. "No I didn't start eating small people, I've gained a couple pounds, so what?" Sure she tried to make it seem like it was no big deal, but really it was. Her clothes were getting tighter and she didn't know why she was gaining weight.

Gemma couldn't believe her eyes. There was yet another hospital worker walking up to the group! Didn't anybody work in St. Mungo's? Before she got the chance to introduce herself, however, the man started talking to one of the healers (she was pretty sure her name was Leslie). Flummoxed, Gemma pretended that she had been reaching her hand out to grab her tea and took another sip. Wincing slightly as the vast amounts of tea hit her throat, she listened to the conversation around her.

Luckily, Tanya chose that moment to explain to her who the newcomer was. After a whispered thanks, Gemma went back to her tea, content for the moment simply to listen. Most of the people around her didn't seem too perturbed about the fact that their boss was apparently an alcoholic. She wasn't quite sure what that was all about and so decided it would be best to listen for a while.

However, after a brief verbal sparring between the healer she thought was Leslie and Connor, she decided to butt in. "I'm Gemma, by the way," she told him, offering him her hand to shake. First day or not, she wasn't going to let herself be spooked by the older, longer-working employees.

Sincerely, Tayn first said, "Les, I meant absolutely no offense. Just that you wouldn't have to worry about that anymore." She wiggled an eyebrow. "Wouldn't even have to be rare."

And then she took another sip of her coffee, before raising her eyebrow at Conner's comment and nodding. "I don't know how Blu got the information. I just know that she did. And that we have an obligation to our patients, right?" And she tilted her head to look at Leslie now, blinking. She really had been spending too much time in her patients rooms avoiding Chris's-parents, hadn't she?

"Erm..." Small people...or, considering her state of being draped over their coworker...

She turned, smiling a bit as Gemma put her hand forward. She had a feeling she already liked this girl quite a bit.

Conner shook his head, still frowning.

"A couple of pounds? Try more than and a couple...."

He said quietly, being careful to not end up on the receiving side of one of Leslie's curses. However, he was thankful when he was interrupted before he could say anything else which would cause all-out war.

"Oh heeyy.... I'm Conner... Gemma, was it? Nice to meet you..."

He smiled at the girl.

"Say... What do YOU make of all this business with the Director being an A-L-C-O-H-O-L-I-C?"

He asked her, not even noticing Tayn's little 'erm'

Gemma was rather pleased with herself. She had managed to wiggle her way back into the conversation. There were few things she disliked more than sitting and being unable to talk. And there were few things she liked more than being asked to share her opinion. Conner's question put him into her good graces.

"Well," she began, setting down her cup of tea, "Obviously I don't know the specifics of this case, but alcoholism is a disease. And it only makes sense that if someone has a disease he shouldn't be treating others for their diseases, but being treated for his own." Gemma paused to wet her throat with another sip of tea. "We're a hospital. We're supposed to help people. But how are we supposed to do that when we aren't even helping our own director?" she asked the group.

"I see your point, Tayn... But even if we had a new director, we still have to keep personal lives personal and work lives professional." She told her trying to keep her mind rational on it. The director was doing his job still fairly well and the alcoholism didn't seem to be affecting him.

Conner's next comment didn't escape her... almost so she took her now empty water bottle and whacked him on the head. "Maybe I should tell your sister about the tactics you have towards women." She said, then listened to Gemma.

"That's actually a really good point... I kind of hope with that kind of logic, you are on my floor..." She said to her.
