Carter came up behind Appo and without noticing he stood with his chest almost to her back and he slipped a spell book in front of her with ancient dragon pox remedies, and the page that was open had answers for Appo. "Here."

Appo jumped as the spell book landed right in front of her.

"Wha ..?" She turned her face up to look at whoever it was and was shocked to see Carter bending over, his face almost right above hers.

He wasn't wearing glasses this time, and he was grinning. She blushed when she realising it was probably a bit inappropriate to be observing someone when their face was this close -- too close.

She turned back to look at the book in front of her. "Oh! Right." She started reading to cover her embarrassment.

Carter gave her a signal to hold on for a minute and he went to get a coffee and he sat in front of her, casually checking his two way mirror to make sure that Dessi wasn't going crazy with his insane working hours. "I found out what could have happened the the little guy." he said, smiling more.

Appo read the book but still was left a little confused, so she gave up reading and waited for Carter to explain to her.

"Cool gadget," Appo commented at the two-way mirror. "So what have you found?"

"Dessi." he said in short before looking up at Appo and smiling with a shake of his head. "It was actually a salve that was used a couple hundred years ago, but the ingredients and method are clearly there. There is a cure there for side effects, and it is a simple enough remedy. If you like you could borrow the book to make it, if not, I can help you." he said smiling to her.

Appo looked at the page in front of her again and read over it. Relieved that there is a cure for Wayne, she was suddenly in a good mood.

"I think I should be able to make that. If there's any problems, I'll ask you then." She replied with a smile.

"And who's Dessi?" She asked out of curiousity.

"Dessi is my iguana, she's probably going crazy without me... Dessi is short for Desdemona, and with Annie wanting me to take care of Mimbulus and Titania, she's not happy with them around either..." He said, as if she were a regular human roommate.

"You got a iguana?" Appo looked at Carter incredulously. He really didn't look like someone who fancies lizards.

"No ... I don't think they get along too well, monkies and iguanas ..."

Appo took out her Moke puppet. "I'd liike to meet a regular lizaard!" She spoke in Magic Mokey's voice, and laughed.

"So Dessi actually gets sad without your company? That's one high maintenance lizard! Well, I've got a hippogriff, her name's Kiwi, but she keeps herself pretty happy hunting small animals and travelling around, so I don't really need to look after her much."

Carter laughed at her tone. "Yes, I have an Iguana, she's almost 6 years old, and about 5-6 feet long." He said, smiling, and handing over the mirror. "Yes she is high maintenance. but I wouldn't have her any other way." he said before continuing. "Cute puppet." He said, flashing his eyes to the puppet for a moment, before looking into her eyes.

"Yeah, Magic Mokey makes my job easier with the kiddies, they all love him." Appo took off the puppet and looked up to see Carter looking at her. She blushed again, looking away, wondering what the heck was wrong with herself.

She took up her coffee cup to drink, then realised she had already finished it.

"Well ... better get back to work then." She stood up, and took the book with her. "Can I borrow this?" She asked, then realised that was probably a stupid question.

"Of course." he said with a smile, not paying attention to her smile. "I have to go too, I'm off duty now, so I am going to go home and sleep. But you know where my office is by now. Just drop in." he said warmly to her, and left slowly, but eventually left.

As she stepped into the Cafeteria, Gemma grinned. She was actually here at St. Mungo's as an acolyte. It seemed too good to be true. Grabbing a cup of tea, Gemma slipped into an empty booth. She took a small sip of her tea to test its heat and then allowed herself a larger sip. It wasn't quite as good as the tea her mum made, but it was quite good.

Scanning the room, Gemma allowed herself a moment of pride. Being an acolyte was a long way from enjoying potions in school. Gemma was excited about her new job and all the new experiences and people that came with it.

Pushing open the double doors that lead into the cafeteria, Gabe stiffled a yawn. He hated bing put on the evening shift, especially as this was his second in a row. He was exhausted. He had deliever two babies that evening, sent home a woman who thought she was in labour but did in fact just have indigestion and still had a busy evening ahead of him.

He had one woman waiting to be told when she'd be ready to go into the delivery room but she was only three centimeters dilated, so given she'd be a while yet before delievery, Gabe had decided to slip off for a nice strong cup of chocolate and his usual doughnut for energy.

Casting an eyes about the cafeteria, Gabe noted the usual slumber the room seemed to be in which given the fact that it was early evening wasn't really a surprise. There was one other figure sat in their hospital robes and Gabe couldn't say he recognised her. Paying for his hot chocolate and doughtnut, Gabe headed over to introduce himself. "Mind if I join you? I'm Gabriel Law... or preferably Gabe. I'm a Healer on the Maternity ward." He held out a hand to shake. "You're new here, aren't you?"

A voice interrupted Gemma's reverie and caused her to snap her head in its direction. The owner of the voice was a man in hospital robes and was carrying his own drink and a doughnut. Gemma took the offered hand and shook it firmly replying, "Not at all. I'm pleased to meet you, Gabe. I'm Gemma Pinder. Yes, I am new. Have you been here long?"

Gemma smiled at him and took another sip of her tea. Gabe was obviously higher-ranking than she and she hoped to make a good impression.

(gmingmyself) Tayn wasn't phased at all at the moment. Yes, it was a bit odd of a request, but she wasn't asking questions. It was simple. Patient, needs help, Healer, able to give help. Medical history and all that, yes. But the rest of it? Not at all. She'd be obligated, she assumed, then- to call the Auror's, and go through paperwork...and it wasn't necessary as of now. Patient, needs help. Healer, able to give. No questions asked, no answers given, no problem.

So she was currently only looking for a bit of a break with her life- and had gone for some coffee. Her patients were doing good, which was heartening...Chris wanted her to meet his family, which was... not. Lovely.

Spotting Gabe, and someone she didn't know, she sat down with a smile.

"Hey Gabe...and, hi, do I know you?" She asked smiling slightly.

Gabe shook her hand firmly with a smile, before slipping into the booth and reaching for a bite of his doughnut. "Pleased to meet you Gemma. How're you liking working in Mungo's so far? Take's some getting used to doesnt it? Are you on a particular ward or jumping between them?"

Gabe opted to wash his mouthful of doughnut down with a swig of hot chocolte before answering her questions. "I've been working here... blimey! Almost a year now. Time really does fly." He turned hearing a familiar voice, looking up and grinnin at Tanya. "Tanya, hi! Come and join us. This is Gemma, a new Acolyte to add to the team."

"Are we having a joint coffee break and no one told me?" Dea asked after she'd wandered into the cafe to find several white jackets, instead of the usual empty, quiet group of moms, parents, daughters. She'd grabbed a cup and dumped a fair amount of sugar in it, biting her burning tongue as she grabbed a chair and swung it around, sitting on the now-backwards chair.

"Tayn, Gabe..." Dea looked over. Well. After nearly a year of working there, she thought she knew everyone. Maybe not. So she just said, "Hi."

Leslie yawned, just started her shift, yet she was dead tired. How was she going to last all night? She grabbed a small coffee, unlike her usual 'Drink from the biggest cup the hospital possessed' sized cup and got a bottle of water as well and joined the group of Healers and Acolytes at their tables. "Bonjour everyone!" she said, in a rather fake accent. Sure she was tired, but her good moods were still there as was the indigestion.

"A year," Gemma echoed, "Wow... So far I've been jumping between wards. Hopefully I'll settle down soon. Where are you?" Gemma took another sip of her tea and quickly swallowed as another older employee joined the table. Luckily, Gabe saved her the job of answering. Smiling despite the burning sensation in her throat caused by her hasty smile, Gemma said, "Pleased to meet you," while offering her hand to the newcomer.

Just as Gemma was about to ask the two sitting with her about St. Mungo's another woman walked up. Gemma smiled again and introduced herself, "Hi, I'm Gemma. Nice to meet you." Sticking her hand out again, Gemma thought to herself, 'I feel like a show pony... But it will all be worth it in the end. Beside, some of them could end up being worth knowing. Gemma badly wanted another sip of her tea, but it would be rude to be drinking while shaking someone's hand.

While still waiting to learn the name of the third person to walk in the room, yet another walked in. 'It never ends!', Gemma thought before repeating, "Hello, my name is Gemma Pinder. Are you all healers, or are some of you acolytes like me?"

Smiling warmly at Gemma, Tayn nodded and said as perkily as possible (hard, considering she was quite tired), "Nice to meet you, Gemma. I'm Tanya, Tayn...Healer Daniels officially I suppose." She tried not to wince at the name. "Head of the third floor-- Potion and Plant Poisoning." The food was pretty awful here, but... she took a sip of the coffee anyway, after taking and shaking the extended hand from Gemma stiffly, but just as warmly as ever.

"Hey, Dea. Well, actually, I think this was pretty...coincidental." Wow, huh. They really had just all kind of congregated at the same place. Ah well. She smiled a bit at Leslie's accent and waved. "Hi...it's, Leslie, right?"

Well, wasn't this intesting. Maybe now would be a good time to bring up displacing the director...
