Keeley grinned and then stood on her toes. Looking up alll the time seemed rather wierd to her.

"I think I need wings." She announced, accepting the fact Cal didn't want to ride Moose at the moment. She was too excited to do so herself. Except for the fact that...she was too short to climb on and there wasn't any steps.

"Cal can you help me? Like you magically got on that other horsie?" she asked, standing to the side of Moose. She looked up at the pony, and then bit her lip.

"And maybe make sure I don't fall off?" Okay...now she was starting to change her mind. Without any adults around, she was a little more cautious. Simply because she realized Cal was happier when she was safe.

Calvin paused thoughtfully. "I think you do too, Keels," he said, deciding that somehow he was going to have to get her wings. He could picture her, flying. Well the least he could do was let her use his broomstick...

"Course I can," he added, locking his hands to make a step for her foot. "Hold on to my shoulder, and climb up." He nodded, glad she liked her present.

"Step on you?" Keeley looked agast for a moment. "But won't it hurt?" She moved closer, looking at his confused, before tentatively slipping her foot onto his hand and then doing as he said, using his shoulder to get up.

And as soon as she was on the horse, a smile broke out over her face. She grinned widely and then looked down at Cal.

"Finally I'm taller than you!" she giggled, holding on to Moose with her legs.

Calvin quickly reached his hand up to steady her, holding her waist gently so she wouldn't fall off. "Yes," he said, pretending that this was terribly disappointing. "I'm afraid the day has come..."

Keeley looked down again and giggled. "Don't be sad silly, its just Moose. Its alllll his fault." She patted the pony slowly not at all afraid being that far off the ground. Especially not with Cal holding her waist.

"So uhm..." she leaned forward a little bit to whisper in Moose's ear. "Could you pretty please walk like...two steps maybe?" She asked him, thinking quite clearly that the pony would understand her. She just wanted to see balance first. She couldn't stop smiling, her cheeks still faintly pink.

"Oh and I have pictures to show you, mummy made me take them but its okay coz I get to show you! I got to throw flowers down the isle at Lynxie's wedding and Miss Abi put on makeup, which is wierd, but I had to wear a dress and anyways I wanted you to have them coz I don't like dresses but it was pretty and..." she rambled.

Calvin laughed. "Alright, Miss Duck - I won't be sad. But duck doesn't sound right... Miss Goose." He grinned at her.

"I don't know if Moose understands you," he said, pulling on the reins ever so gently, so that Moose did, in fact, take a few hesitant steps forward. "But you can certainly try."

He smiled again. "Pictures from the wedding - that sounds nice," he said. "I'm sure you looked beautiful - you'd look pretty in a dress, even if it's completely not like my Keels..." He said the last part almost unintentionally, and looked down, coloring in the slightest.

"Miss Goose..." Keeley thought for a moment. "Those are the things with the really long neck that go HONK! HONK! right?" She let go of Moose to flap her 'wings'. However, Moose stepped foward and she had to instantly hold on again, giggling.

"Good boy Moosie!" She smiled brightly and patted the horse on the head gently, moving his hair out of his eyes.

She shrugged and continued rambling. "Well, it was not that fun cuz there were bows and they curled my hair and I had to wear these little lacy socks and my shoes had heels on them, I mean, how am I stupposed to play soccer in heels? And Mister Tristan and Mister Tyler went out and played in the snow without me! But it was coz Mister Tyler dropped his tie down over the balcony..."

She leaned towards Cal to whisper, "I think he did it on purpose!" Then she straightened up again and laughed. "And then people were really noisy so I had to stand on a chair to get their attention and they quieted down and then I threw flowers up into the air and then floated down, floated! It went everywhere. And then other epoples walked and then Lynxie walked down and her dress was realllly white and fluffy. And then later Lynxie and Mister Tyler kissed!" She giggled again, and continued with her tale.

"And then I changed back into my normal clothes, because lace is itchy. I hope you never have to wear it. And we ate, and then went out and played in the snow! Or well...Mister Tyler took us out to play in the snow." She grinned even brighter, and would have hugged Cal for his compliments if she hadn't been off the ground. At his last comment, she blushed a little but had absolutely no problem with what he said.

"Yup!"

Cal raised his eyebrows, a bit put off by the information overload, yet still amused - Keeley always made him smile, he supposed. "Well it couldn't have been all that bad - and you were the flowergirl, and it sounds like you had fun, even though you didn't want to."

He nodded, concealing a smile. "Well I certainly hope I never have to wear lace," he said. "That wouldn't be very pleasant..."

Glad she hadn't been weirded out by his "his Keels" comment, he said, "So want to keep riding Moose for a bit or get down now? I can help you get down if you want."

"Oh it wasn't bad. I just don't wear dresses..." she pointed to her jeans with a bright smile, before turning so that her legs were hanging off the same side.

"Though I would wear them for certain people, Lynxie being one of them." she corrected herself, doing a quick nod to end her point. She didn't get his amusement on the comment of lace, but she supposed no one would ever try to make him wear such. For some reason, boys always got lucky. She smiled.

"I wanna get down, coz I don't want Moosie to get all tired out! Then he'd be unhappy and thats not a good thing..." her tone and face was completely serious when she said that, but she looked down and then looked at Cal and asked, "How?"

Calvin just nodded, and reached up his other hand, to hold her securely. "Just... swing your leg over and sort of jump down, lean on me, I won't let you fall. I promise."

Okay, he was pretty sure he could manage this without knocking them both over - and he didn't want Keels getting worried about getting down - thought that was so ridiculously unlike her in the first place.

Keeley laughed. "We're going to fall down..." she said, but she did as he instructed, gently using the horse as leverage to slip down.

"Isn't there a muggle song called Lean on Me? It was on my uhm...whatchamacallit and I like it. I durno where my mummy and daddy found these kinda things. Anywa-" she paused and gave a tiny squeal as she slipped gently off Moose.

Calvin was right there with his arms around her to half-catch her, half-stop her fall, as she got off the horse. "Yeah, there is," he said, knowing the name - seeing as he lived in and grew up in a muggle family. It's a nice song...I guess it could sort of describe us - we're always there for each other, right?"

He smiled and let go of her so she could stand.

Keeley giggled and as he let go of her, she simply wrapped her arms around his neck, naturally. She thought for a moment and then nodded several times.

"I've decided. There are a lot of songs that are us!" She grinned widely. "us us us us..." She tapped her foot as her outlet of energy and hugged him; not that she had to move much.

"Merry Christmas again Cal!"

Calvin laughed and didn't stiffen when she hugged him. "I'm sure there are a lot of songs for us," he said, tapping his fingers on her back. "Merry Christmas, Keels - again."

He sighed - Keeley was by far the most interesting person he'd ever met, and one of the most amusing. "You know, when I first met you you freaked me out. A lot." He smiled at the memory.

Keeley stood up straighter when he tapped her back and she smiled, but that quickly faded. She, of course, thought freaking him out was a really, really bad thing.

"...I'm...sorry..." Her face was solemn as she said that, her eyebrows slightly furrowed. She looked over at her backpack for a moment; a spot of the lake had been frozen by Lynx especially for her, but if he was upset with her she didn't want to bring it up. Of course, he didn't seem upset, but she didn't like the idea.

Calvin shook his head and grinned. "No, Keels, it's okay, I got used to you, you definitely don't freak me out now!" He was both amused and concerned that she was so worried. "I was just surprised that any one person could have that much energy!"

He shrugged, and asked, “So now what do you want to do? I'm game for anything that doesn't involve a real moose, or a stair railing.” Calvin grinned at the references to their past adventures. Because that was what he thought of them now.

Keeley's worry immediately flew away at the mention of her nickname. Afterall, if he was mad her, he wouldn't be using it. But he said he 'got used to her' and that made her laugh. So much energy?

"Actually, I was worried that you would rather be reading that being outside..." she told him seriously, before poking his cheek. "You're not as pale anymore! And you smile more, which means I get to see your dimples more." She was ridiculously obsessed with his dimples, and she reached up her hand and poked one gently.

"Well, I don't know that there are any mooses around here, and they took Billy-bob out, but Lynxie froze part of the lake for me, and I was wondering if you wanted to do that, I mean, I have no problem if you don't want to, but I want to show you me doing it..." She rambled, remembering his response last time. She didn't want to feel him get sad again.

Calvin sighed, and smiled, brushing off her comment about his dimples. "I do love books, but if you're outside dragging me around to do things the prospect is far more appealing."

Maybe she wouldn't understand what the big words meant?

"You want to go...ice skating?" he asked, quietly, not really giving much of a reaction for fear Keels would cry if he got upset. "Umm...I'm not sure." His parents - all he could think of was his parents. "If you...really want to, I guess we could - but I don't have any skates, not here; where would I get some?"

Keels wanted to go skating - and he couldn't hold onto memories and live off of those. Maybe this would be good for him - usually, the things Keeley wanted to do were good for him...

"Meaning you're okay with me making you play outside?" she reworded, attempting to understand what he meant. She didn't feel uneducated when he used words she didn't know, instead, she used that was an ooportunity to learn them herself. She often mimicked the adult phrases and words her parents used.

And then he got quiet; she had worried about that. She hurried to assure him, "No, you don't have to if you want to, I just wanted to show you my skating, and if you wanted to, which I'm not saying you have to, just if you wanted to, I brought some. But only if you want to!" she raised a figure and ran over to her oddly shaped bag, dragging it along. She opened it up on the ground, and pulled out one shoe of each set, one black, and Cal's size, the other small and white, obviously worn a lot.

She bit her lip and looked at him for a moment, gauging his reaction, and then set the black shoe back in the bag, sitting on the frozen ground to put on her own. She stood up for a moment on them, getting her feet to slide in and then settle properly, balancing, and then sat back down, attempting to lace her own quickly, but tightly.

"I just want to show you." she repeated. She was extremely proud of her ability to iceskate, and she loved showing off for Cal, and this was one of the safe things she could do. She just didn't want him to get upset or sad, like he had done the last time she brought it up. She knew it was about his parents, afterall, she had asked Santa to give Cal new parents. But Santa must have thought Miss Kat and Miss Kat's parents were good enough, because that didn't happen.

Calvin shrugged, nodding. "Basically."

When she started to get all flustered and nervous about upsetting him, he only smiled. "Well I mean, I could, I would be okay with that." It would be a bit hard, but he couldn't hide from skating forever just because of his parents.

And Keels really seemed to want him to - she had skates for him. He watched her, a bit hesitantly, as she slipped the skates on her feet, "Are you...sure you want to show me?" he asked, wondering if she'd fall through the ice or crack her neck or something awful like that.

So, rubbing his hands together, he sat down beside her and picked up an ice skate. "You show me, I show you?" he asked, curiously, with a grin, as he started to put on the first skate.
