Thomus was trained to react quickly. He wouldn`t have been a very good Death Eater if he couldn`t do it. But for some reason, when he was supposed to actually use his skills, he failed. The only thing he did, was opening his mouth and letting out a simple ”Don`t!”

Helping Monica was one of the reasons why he tolerated Malius. But it all quickly changed. Thomus was going to rip that man`s guts out. He pointed his wand at him, clenching his teeth and ready to hiss the goddamn Avada at his pathetic little ass. But then everything happened so quickly, he felt something nearly knocking him over, his wand flying out of his hand and then realized that he was just standing there, dumbfounded, looking at his father, who was holding the wand.

It was far too much to acknowledge everything what was going on. It was easier to focus on one thing at the time and that moment it was Malius and Danielle. Danielle being hurt – very very hurt and Malius being the one responsible. ”Stop it. NOW!” he yelled angrily, taking a step towards Malius.

In all honesty, Edward did not expect it to happen. But it certainly was a nice surprise. Malius didn`t even seem to doubt it. Was Edward wrong about him? Was this man actually… good enough to be with his daughter and to put her back on the right path? He quickly found himself somehow… affectionate towards the man. Which was definitely strange.

And Monica… Monica didn`t seem to mind. She wasn`t happy about it, but… damn it, she seemed OKAY with it. Edward couldn`t hide the amused look on his face.

But of course, something had to interrupt the blissful moment and it was his son. Quickly pointing his wand at him, Edward used the Expelliarmus spell and caught his son`s wand. Men were sometimes irrational. And Edward was sure that Thomus simply didn`t know what was going on. Turning back to look at Malius, Edward grinned. ”Oh son…. Just look at this…” He murmured, somehow gleefully. ”My pathetic excuse of a daughter finally has done something right. Can you believe it?” He glanced at Thomus, smirking.

”Calm down, boy. I told him to do it. I needed a proof and… well… nice work, Raziel. Don`t kill her, though. She still might be of some help.” He glanced at Monica. Could it actually be happening? Wa his daughter finally seeing things the way they were?

It was easy to not care. He remembered that feeling of power and enjoyed it. He used that to his advantage. When it was enough he let up the latter spell that was the only one still actively harming Danielle, and dropped his wand to his side. He didn't want to bother looking at Monica's face and seeing her reaction. She was quiet and that was all that mattered. Of course, Thomus had to attempt to intervene but that wasn't Malius' problem.

"Hopefully I've proven to you sir that the rumors about me are entirely false. Monica will be in good hands I assure you. Between the two of us I think we can get her straightened out."

He chanced a glance at the girl on the floor who was laying still now. He figured she'd be left there a while, but he shrugged it off. It was her fault for getting into other people's business after-all. It was so...easy. To do what Edward had asked that is. He wouldn't blame Monica for being angry with him over it, but he also wouldn't care either way. It was done.

Funny. She becomes useful for finding a bloody book and they give a crap if she gets hurt. That's the only reason she found for Thomus' surprising disagreement to Edward's lovely idea. With the spells not causing havoc on her now, she laid still on the floor. Wasn't that a medical thing too? Don't move so you don't bleed more? She didn't know.

Lifting her head just enough she looked at Thomus, noting now he was absent of his wand which she knew he would always have on him. Edward of course, she thought. Not a moments peace. She shook her head once, a look of hurt or really even fear on her face before she simply laid her head back down. No point. She had no witty comments for this. Her dignity was shot to all hell much to her disgust. This whole bloody family was whacked out.

Thomus` head shot to the direction of his father as he spoke. So… Monica and Malius were back together and went there to be left alone? Fine. He couldn`t care less as long as his sister wasn`t hurt. What wasn`t fine, though, was what they were doing to Danielle. What she had anything to do with ANY of it? And Thomus knew that he should have been angry on his father, but… he wasn`t.

He was furious with Malius. Thomus has HELPED to save Monica. He could have taken her to Edward, but nooo, he helped her. And Malius seemed to care about her somewhat, so Thomus had done a favor to both of them. And THAT was how he repaid him? By doing that to Danielle? Thomus clenched his teeth and glared at Malius.

”The next time I see you? You better ~censored~ have your coffin ready.” Thomus snarled angrily and completely honestly. He never took such betrayal well. And this? This meant war. There were so much more things he would have said, but the sight of Danielle on the ground, covered in blood, forced him to organize his priorities.

Moving to her he squat down and placed his hand on Danielle`s face. ”Are you… do you have your wand with you?” His tone had changed drastically from completely furious to concerned. And Thomus didn`t even bother to ask Edward for his wand – he knew he wasn`t getting it.

Edward used to respect Malius Raziel. Before everything. He was a man of a well status, known well, a true Pureblood. But his opinion was shattered by Raziel`s involvement with his daughter. Somehow, through that one small act of violence Edward gained part of that respect again. He truly believed that this man was the best damn thing that could have happened so far.

”I`m sure you have already.” He exclaimed, nodding his head at Monica`s reaction. Or, to put it more clearly, her lack of reaction. That was how a Pureblood woman was supposed to be. Emotionless to things that did not concern her.

And then he was greatly disappointed for his son. ”I must apologize, Raziel. My son seems to be pregnant or something, cause I can`t see any other reason for him to be acting like a total idiot.” Edward glared at his son. ”You`re acting like she`s actually important! We still have her father, you slug!” Edward snarled at his son. He did not expect such reaction from him. It was humiliating, to say the least.

”Monica! Clean that mess up. I don`t want my carpet to have stains. And I need to talk to Mr. Raziel here.” He took a couple of steps down the stairs and motioned to Malius to come to him.

Monica felt sick. It had been a long time since she had seen blood. Smelled blood. Her quiet lifestyle made her forget of such events. But she made a deal with an Inner Circle Death Eater and that was how things usually ended. Even if she and the said Death Eater used to be together at some point.

Somehow she managed to keep her face blank. Locked it all up inside her. Her anger towards Malius for doing that, her understanding, her loathe towards her father, her fear for Thomus` threat. She actually felt sorry for Thomus. And scared. And pissed and… it was too hard to keep track.

But the plan seemed worked and if it meant finally having Elena safe? Monica wasn`t going to be the better person and keep the innocent safe. If it came to it, she`d be glad to see innocent outsiders dying if it meant keeping her daughter safe. Slowly moving to Danielle, Monica tried to keep the disgust and fear out of her face. And she succeeded. Dropping to her knees she pulled out her wand and murmured healing spells at Danielle`s wounds. Just to stop the bleeding. She had no idea how to heal the wounds.

”I`m sorry, but… everyone for themselves here… it my daughter, for merlin`s sake…” She whispered to no one in particular, but at the same time to both Thomus and Danielle. And made sure to be quiet enough not to have Edward hear it.

Malius found reacting to Thomus' threat was useless. It would get him nowhere as Thomus wasn't his concern anyway. Edward was, and Monica would be fine there without him for a bit. Approaching Edward left the control of the situation back in the man's hands. Malius didn't like that idea, but he had no choice.

"There's no need to apologize, Edward. His threats are nothing," he put simply.

This could actually work. It appeared that way and he hoped it would end up that way. So far he had proved himself, at least he thought saw, and now he had to get through the rest of this. It almost seemed easy.

"What is it you wanted to discuss?"

Bad thing was she couldn't actually play up her anger toward Edward afterward. That part sucked. She had to play nice, naturally, and she hated it. Forget this crap. She didn't sign up for any of this bullcrap. That was all Monica's problems or Malius' problems.

"Back pocket."

Like hell if she would go anywhere without it. She hadn't begun to trust Edward or any part of this family and for good reasons. Thomus was that odd exception that she couldn't pin-point. She still appreciated keeping him at arms length, but he had his moments to surprise her. Like this one. But he just wanted his book so of course he didn't want his assistant damaged.

Although Monica had made a small attempt to help, Danielle was in mood to be around the girl. Thomus was capable of taking care of the damage done.

"You better back up before I get better enough to do something about it. You're not on my good list right now,"
she snapped, her voice quieter than she would have liked, but it got the message through.

See, she could use her little bit of energy for something productive like biting comments. It was practically a talent.

Thomus picked up his head and glared at Monica as she spoke. Was she serious?! ”I save you and this is what I get?” He growled out silently, his expression obviously angry. ”And here I thought you were actually a good person. Foolish mistake, sister.” He snapped, looking down at Danielle again.

”Just so you know… I`m not joking. Next time I see him, I swear I`m going to kill him.” That was it. Thomus was done talking with Monica. He never thought she could be like that. By that point she was no better than their father? Everyone for themselves? Fine. And just as he decided to be the better person… well, screw it then.

”Danielle, I`m going to take you to a person who will help you, okay? I can`t treat these wounds and… they must be tended.” He spoke slowly, a trace of anger still in his voice. How did it all happen?? Slowly and carefully he picked her up and throwing an angry glance at Monica he walked to the door. He didn`t even acknowledge his father or Malius. They already heard all what they had to.

Monica knew she was supposed to feel sorry and apologize and whatnot, but… she couldn`t. It was for Elena. It was the right thing. As Danielle spoke, Monica glanced away slightly. Ï think you`re outnumbered right now. Trying to harm either of us would be just plain stupid.” She spoke slowly, her voice louder then. Fine, Edward could hear that if he felt the need to.

The look of hatred that her brother passed to her was painful. She was so happy when he helped them, so happy he was on their side, but… it was all over, wasn`t it? Well, that meant she just had to deal with it. And the threat towards Malius… Monica tried to ignore it. For the time being. Or it might become too hard to keep her calm expression on.

When Thomus picked Danielle up and moved to the door, Monica murmured cleaning spells at the blood. Working at MagiK had it`s good parts – she was much better at cleaning spells.

Edward decided to ignore his son. He`d deal with him later. Something far more important was happening that moment and it was his daughter finally coming back to the family. He had sought for that moment for years and the fact that he succeeded made him absolutely joyful. Finally others will stop laughing behind his back about his inability to control his children. Finally.

As Malius approached him, Edward placed his hand on the man`s shoulder. It was not in a threatening way – it was more of a “welcome to the family” kind of way. In all honesty, Edward had never dreamt of that moment actually happening. Of a day when Monica would do right without being forced into it.

Malius` question put a grin on Edward`s face. ”Well, your marriage, obviously.” He spoke as if that was the most obvious thing ever. ”Have you set the date already?” He wondered, raising his eyebrow.

Certain words Malius avoided. It was done on purpose, and yet there was one of those words. He hadn't expected that, but if he said anything against it then there went the plan. It certainly took all he had though.

"Haven't set one yet. It needs to be the right time of course."

Malius couldn't have blamed Monica now for saying the wrong thing because he wasn't sure if he wouldn't now. The topic wasn't something he preferred, but again--play the part.

"I suppose you would have some suggestions."

Now he was at a loss. It was unwanted conversation that he had to put up with. There wasn't any ignoring it this time.

Edward knew he wouldn`t like hearing “ah, we`re not getting married” and he hoped it weren`t the case. As it turned out, it wasn`t, and Edward patted Malius on the shoulder. He was somehow excited about it all. Before, with Ralston it was… forced. No one was really happy. It was a necessity. Now this? This could mean a brand new era for the Grant family. Raziel family was well respected. It would be good to be associated with them and NOT have to fear that your idiotic daughter will do something… idiotic.

”My suggestion? The sooner the better. You already have a child together, it`s not… okay not to be married.” Edward spoke as if it was the most obvious thing ever.

”Besides, it would obviously be the best for you as well. Men have needs. And since that is forbidden until you are married, I know you`d like to get it over with as soon as possible.” Edward found no trouble in talking about his daughter`s sex life. She was still just an item any way or other.

He glanced at Monica and motioned for her to come closer. As she did, somehow reluctantly, though, he turned back to Malius. ”You do realize I will not tolerate you dishonoring my daughter until the marriage? You`ve done that enough already.” That was, of course, referring to their child.

"Sooner, then. I think that would work best for everyone as you said. Though too the sooner things are taken care of, the sooner everyone can move on from the mess your daughter had made before. I'm sure it'll just be a bad memory later."

There was always that unexpected turn of events in anything no matter how much you planned. Thus he had said before they left that planning was useless. Edward was unpredictable of course, and as such now they had a whole other situation to deal with.

Glancing at Monica, he kept his true feelings in check, though she probably already assumed what he thought. They would need to talk about that once they managed to get out of the current situation.

"I understand of course."

Monica moved closer to Edward and Malius, at the same time scared and yet curious about what they were talking. Malius didn`t seem angry or annoyed, so that was a plus. On the other hand, it might have been just the mask he was trying to pull off. It worked great, of course.

Howevere, as she did come closer and hear what they were talking about, her eyes grew wide. That was... ew, wrong. Sure, Edward had already talked about such things when the whole deal with Ralston happened, but it didn`t make it any better. She wished her father would not feel like it was a good thing to discuss.

She cleared her throat. “Don`t you think it`s... a bit too much?“ She wondered slowly, looking at her father.

Edward liked to hear that out loud. The sooner the better. It was good to know that they all were on the same needs. “Good. Let me know when you set the date. I`ll think about people to invite and whatnot.“ He was honstly excited about it.

As Monica came closer he watched her, watched how her eyes went wide. Edward grinned at that. Women were so weird at times. It was natural, was it not?

Any other time he would have scolded her for speaking out like that, but at that moment he was in a good mood and let it slide. “Too much? Oh, I`d disagree. I`d say it`s not enought.“ Just a little lesson to make her learn to keep her place. Ï`d like to make the Vow on this...“ He raised his eyebrow at Malius.

It was any wonder how they were going to manage this situation. At least afterward when he didn't have to play up being calm or pulled together about it. Some things he avoided. This would have been one of those if it wasn't for Edward.

"The Vow? Don't you think that's a little excessive?"

Malius had agreed without hesitation to most anything else Edward had said, but he put his foot down this time. Not that it would probably do him any good, but it was worth the attempt. It seemed like too much as Monica had said, but yet not enough in Edward's eyes.

"I'm sure without it everything still will go as planned."

Monica`s eyes went wide again. Was it her fault? She hoped not. The Vow? Seriously? Was the situation not bad enough already? Her brother swore to kill Malius, she and Malius were supposed to fake a wedding and now this? ”But…” She mumbled out, nearly saying “it`s stupid”. Edward would have not liked it.

Then Monica thought about it. In reality they weren`t together, right? So… what harm could it do? It`s not like they were sleeping together. Except few accidents. Besides, it could be a good thing to have a very good reason NOT to if they… go that way someday.

Slowly she turned to Malius. ”I`m sure… it`s not such a bad idea, actually.” She spoke slowly, hoping that he`d understand.

Edward faked a genius smile. ”Excessive? No, I wouldn`t say that.” He exclaimed, looking between the two, the fake smile still on his face. ”In ten years or so, you will understand me when something similar happens to your daughter. You wouldn`t want her to be with some guy while unmarried, right?”

In all honesty, he was just trying to teach Monica a lesson. But when she agreed to it, he wasn`t satisfied. However, it was too late to back out an Edward decided just to go with it. ”I`m sure it will go as planned, but you can`t blame an old man to be cautious about his daughter, now can you?” He spoke, while extending his hand. The “friendly” look on his face was obviously fake ad he knew that they knew…. It only made things better.
