Ralston let go of Monica's arm finally, his fingers leaving indentations on her skin. "So you will be a good wife then. Excellent. I won't be seeing you anymore until the wedding night. Wear what I bought for you." He told her, it wasn' a suggestion, a question or even a demand, but there was also no room for negotiation. Ralston leaned in and kissed her again now knowing he dominated her. "Have a good evening, I will be speaking to Edward by owl." he told her, not expressing it, but he wanted her to deliver his message. |

Monica placed her hand over the place that he had held her arm. It was stinging bad and she realized that she wouldn`t be surprised if that had left bruises. She didn`t speak - she only nodded - because she was sure that if she tried to speak her voice would be hoarse and she might just start crying. And she realized that that wouldn`t make him happy. Wedding night. Oh great. One thing that made this all worse. Wedding. Night. She hated those two words already. As he kissed her once again she just blocked her mind and didn`t think about it. Monica figured she`d have to do a lot of that now. She might be a good wife, but that didn`t mean she`d have to respond to any of his actions in the same way. Nodding again she walked to the door and opened it, bowing her head down. She only wanted that he would leave. That was all for the moment. |

Ralston fastened his cloak tighter around himself and sneered. Without another word, he left. He would sure have plans for her on their wedding night. And he knew he had her attention now so there'd be no issue with compliance if she wanted to live. |

Monica closed the door when he left, still rubbing the spot on her arm. This wasn`t right at all, was it? She was breathing heavily, staring at the door. He was doing that on purpose. He didn`t have to be so rude. But all men were like that. None of them thought that women were good enough. She took a deep breath and rested her forehead on the door. She wanted to just run away. But how could that work - Ralston had the pendant and he could kill her no matter where she was. That was why she was stuck. Pulling back she exhaled, angry tears in her eyes. ":censored:!" she swore, kicking the door hard. She hated it all. |

Monica was beyond nervous. And she wasn`t even going to pretend that she wasn`t. Even if she tried to make herself believe that it would be alright, there was no proof of it. And the moment she found herself in the front room of her old home she quickly dropped Malius` hand. She hadn`t been in that house for far too long. Nervously swallowing a large lump that appeared in her throat she took a step forwards. Malius was crazy to agree with her to do it. Why did he agree? Clearing her throat she looked at the staircase. ”Father…?” She called out, her voice rather silent and trembling. Damn it, she had to pull herself together. Taking a short glance at Malius, just to make sure that he was still there, she turned back to the stair case. ”Father?” This time her voice was louder. Still trembling, though. |

There had always been some problems with Monica. She never did the right thing, she was never as obedient a he hoped her to and even in the very beginning, when she joined the Death Eaters, Edward always felt like she was taken into the group just because of the family, not her own abilities. Why couldn`t she be more like the other Pureblood girls? Just… right? Why couldn`t she be right? Then the whole thing with Ralston… there was no need to say that Edward couldn`t look at Ralston again. Monica had completely torn off the face of the Grant family, ruined the relationship with Marrid family and simply made everything go down the drain. Was he angry? He was furious. That was why he wanted Thomus to find Monica. It had to end and be set straight. Even if it meant dying over the thing, Edward wasn`t going to rest while his family name was mixed with soil. However, Edward had never, ever expected to hear that voice. At first he was sure that he was hallucinating, He was walking down the corridor when he heard it. The voice was weak and silent and Edward was absolutely positive for one moment that he was going insane. Then he heard it again. And it was no mistake – it was his daughter calling him. Moving to the staircase he took a couple of steps down to see Monica and… well well well. Malius Raziel. There was no need to point out that Edward had hated the man ever since the wedding incident. Not that he had any idea what it was all about. Raising his eyebrow he looked back at Monica. ”I must say… I`m surprised…” He spoke slowly, resting his hand on the rail. ”I thought it would take a little bit more to make you understand what was the best for you.” Then his eyes slowly drifted to Malius. Edward didn’t address him. He had nothing to say to him, despitethe curiosity and confusion that the whole event brought. |

Malius could have assured Monica he wouldn't just leave, but she should have known that by now. He had agreed to this crazy plan and he was seeing it through. He was right though to note that she would be nervous, but that was expected. He at least kept those things buried. Malius couldn't say he had an opinion about Edward. At least one solid one way or another. He hated a lot of people, and so much so that the word was ridiculous to use. So no he didn't hate Edward, but he neither cared for the guy either. Which he knew Edward didn't really like him either. He figured that could hinder things, but then again when it came down to Edward getting what he wanted... "As stubborn as your children may be," Malius quipped. "they do know--like you said--what is best for them." There wouldn't be a right time nor a wrong time in a circumstance like this to put his own two cents in on the matter. That and if Monica had a case of the nerves and said nothing, he had least peaked Edward's interest with that comment. |

Monica hadn`t seen her father for years. The last time she did was her wedding. After that she just avoided him. And after the divorce? Well, she avoided him even more. What they were doing was basically stepping into the bear`s cave and leaving their huge cavemen clubs outside in the woods. Not a very smart thing to do. When she heard his steps and saw him walking down, she realized she was scared. And that was normal to her – her father had always scared her. It was just the way he was… scary. Maybe because Monica already knew what he could do to her. As he spoke she took a small step backwards. Maybe she was trying to get away from Edward, maybe to get closer to Malius – either way, she wanted to feel at least a little bit safer. She cleared her throat once more. ‘You`re with Malius. You`re a couple. You`re doing it right by the rules in his book’, she spoke to herself, trying to believe her words. ”Father… I came here, because…” She broke off and took a deep breath. It wasn`t easy. Nt at all. She almost wished that Malius would step in and she wouldn`t have to do a damn thing. ”Because you seem to… do anything to get me here. Even hurt my daughter and… there is really… really no need for that.” Monica was rambling and she knew that. It was just impossible to be calm around her father. She glanced at Malius, her look pleading for help. She couldn`t even pretend to be calm. |

Edward was amused. Still completely outraged at her daughter, but nevertheless, amused. It worked. She was there. He was sure he knew why she was there. Malius being there as well was just a minor detail. However, as Raziel spoke, Edward addressed a cold glare at him. ”I don`t believe I asked your opinion on my children, Raziel. As it seems, you have done enough already.” It wasn`t only about the wedding thing… Edward really didn`t like the idea of this man having a child with Monica. They were not married, for Merlin`s sake! Then his eyes turned back to Monica. He listened to her ramblings and raised his eyebrows, taking a couple more steps down. She was afraid of him. He could see that. And that was a good sign. ”I don`t need to?” He repeated, faking surprise in his tone. ”Then I suppose you didn`t completely ruin the Grant name, ruin my relationship with Marrids, fouled the way people see the my family?” He wondered, pretending to be calm. It was hard to control himself. Edward just wanted to hex her. ”On the other hand… it worked. You are here. There just might be hope for you yet.” His hand slid into his pocket as he pulled out his wand. ”Of course, there must be some changes…” A cold grin appeared on his face. |

Malius didn't even flinch because of the comment. He was so used to expecting anything of the sort, that it didn't bother him. He remained quiet while Monica attempted to explain. Edward would no doubt be harder to deal with than anticipated, but after everything? Hell they could probably get out of just about any situation. Maybe not unscathed, but at least out of it. "What Monica is trying to explain to you, is that she has come to her senses," he cut in, already knowing he would probably hear it for doing so. "She has realized that you were right and she was wrong to question your judgment. She'll need to be straightened out, of course, but she's doing things the way you wanted them to begin with. I may not be your favorite person, but Monica's made a decision." It was only years of practice that made sure Malius didn't react to the fact that Edward had taken out his wand. He was aware of it, yes, but to react would ruin everything. Some people mistaken it for a lack of caring, but it was only for the sake of the situation. |

Was it bad that Monica actually felt guilty for harming the Grant family? She was a proud Pureblood, always had been and she hated knowing that she did wrong. However, it didn`t mean that she was supposed to stay married to Ralston or anything. It was a situation that was doomed from the very beginning. Strangely enough she was the only one to acknowledge it as such. But as Edward continued speaking, Monica felt fear grip her heart. He had hurt her far too many times for her to just ignore it and be calm about it. And then he took out his wand and her heart dropped to her knees. Deep inside she knew that Malius would protect her, that nothing bad would happen, but that didn1t stop the fear that creeped in. Slowly she took one more step backwards, by that point getting behind Malius. He could deal with it, right? Yet, when Malius began talking, she wanted to hit him with something. He was being an ass. Of course, it was needed on some level, but seriously? He was talking about her like a thing… the way he was supposed to talk. Monica swallowed all the insults and things she wanted to tell him. It was just an act. And still she hated how perfectly he seemed to pull it off. When Malius was done speaking, Monica cleared her throat again. ”What it means is… we are together…” Maybe she should have kept shut, but she couldn`t. ”And… it`s… what you`ve wanted, isn`t it? For me to be with… someone like him?” She felt like a complete idiot. |

Edward raised his eyebrows. The things that Raziel was saying were… well, to put it simply, Edward didn`t want to agree to that. Besides, something looked off. Way off. Edward couldn`t put his finger on it, but… there was something. And as Malius was done speaking, and Monica spoke up, Edward just laughed coldly. ”That`s what I`ve anted?!” He exclaimed, rolling his eyes at them and then turning to Malius. ”What I have wanted, was for my daughter to be a decent Pureblood, follow the right ideology, marry a right, strong man and be the proper wife she was supposed to be!” His faked surprise was slowly turning into an honest anger. ”And you…” Edward narrowed his eyes, glaring straight at Malius. ”You hardly fall into that category, don`t you?” He clenched his teeth. ”You tried to jeopardize the marriage that I have tried to put together for my daughter`s sake. You have been using her for your own needs. Or is that child not yours?” Edward took a couple more steps down, gripping his hands. ”And strong, respectable Pureblood? HA!” By that point there was nothing left but anger on Edward`s face. ”Rumor has it, Raziel, that you have gone soft. That you, instead of doing your duties to the Dark Lord, are running a bloody kindergarten in your house!” That was hardly a respectable thing for a Pureblood male to do. His eyes drifted to Monica as he narrowed them. ”And you`d think I`d be okay with that? If that had happened two years ago, I would have been grateful. Now? Now it feels like just to screw ups getting back together.” Edward`s knuckles had turned white, because of the force he gripped the wand with. |

Being right that this wasn't going to go over easily was hardly a good thing to be right about. He could keep calm and act the part all day long, but he didn't take insults kindly. Who did? It was an issue of pride naturally. In this case though he had to or he was going to be the one ruining the whole thing. With Monica now behind him, he knew if it came down it then yes he would retaliate. Right now that wasn't the best option. "I apologize for what I've done in the past. I let myself let things get out of hand and that will not happen again." On the outside Malius was calm, but inside he was starting to get agitated by the situation. He'd probably have to let off some steam when he got home which never ended well for anyone. "That may be the rumor, but the rumor is false. I have my sister's to take care of them as they should, since Monica found herself ill-equipped to take care of Elena." Some things he left be and found it easier to just not comment on it. If they managed to get this straightened out, he would be surprised. However, when he heard footsteps, he glanced automatically in that direction. He'd be damned if it couldn't get any worse... |

Another day doing some other so called job that they wanted done. Whatever. She had nothing better to do anyhow except sit bored to death in her flat. Truthfully though she hadn't had much time for staying at home when she was always finding herself at the manor to begin with. Another day and oh what do we have here? She wasn't one for knocking and that was a given. Walking in this time though proved most interesting. "Well I can see when I'm interrupting," she said absently. So those two again. Thomus had been right about that much--his sister just couldn't keep out of trouble. Not that it was Danielle's business, but a little curiosity never hurt anyone. "Pardon me." The slight bite to her tone was only natural. She nodded her head at Edward, attempting a sort of apology for waltzing in. She wasn't big on manner's clearly. |

It was NOT going well. Monica knew Malius. Well, at least some parts of him. She knew how he reacted to insults. Damn it, how any men reacted to insults. And Edward had crossed a line.. even if, in some cases, it was true. Malius was looking after his children. He wasn`t as active among the Death Eaters as he used to. But Monica had always seen that as a good thing. Of course he father would have a different opinion about it all. She felt like she should have said something, but had no idea what. Defend him? In what way? So, she let it be. Just hoped that Malius would handle it and that he wouldn`t lose it. As it turned out, she was right. He was still calm. At least he looked like he was calm. She felt the tension in the room climb higher with every word they said. There were things Monica wanted to say. But she didn`t. She knew that by that point it couldn`t only get worse. Monica noticed how Malius glanced to a different direction far before she heard the footsteps herself. Who the hell could it be? Upon seeing the same girl that was with Thomus, Monica opened her mouth to greet her. Then quickly closed it again. What the HELL was her problem?! They were supposed to act like it never happened, weren`t they? Or… something along the lines… Sighing heavily, Monica just turned to face Edward and stayed calm. Let… men handle it. Wow, that was a bit Pureblood of her, wasn`t it? |

Edward was perfectly sure that there was nothing that man could say to change his opinion. Fine, he wasn`t completely honest. Two years ago he knew something. Tony things. Details. But the marriage was already arranged. He couldn`t just break it off, because Monica had feelings… even if sometimes he felt it would have been the better thing, there was no way he was going to say that out loud. ”Apologizes? Sure, that really proves how much of a strong man you are…” Edward ridiculed him, sneering. As for his reply to the rumor? Right… ”Basically it`s still the same, isn`t it? Instead of being a Pureblood man, you much more prefer to be a nanny.” Fine, it was twisting Malius` words, but who said that Edward couldn`t do it? Any other time Edward would have been pissed to see Danielle walking in. He despised the woman. But that very moments she worked out [I[great[/I]. He placed a fake friendly smile and extended his hand towards her. ”Danielle! My girl! Just the person I needed right now!” He wasn`t trying to make her believe he was polite – he just liked to be cruel. As she walked up to him, he placed his hand firmly on her shoulder and glared at Malius. ”So, you insist that you haven`t changed? That you are still the Death Eater you were?” He raised his eyebrow, pushing Danielle forwards, towards Malius. ”Why don`t you try convincing me then?” He grinned. Edward knew how his daughter was. She didn`t like seeing people being hurt in front of her. He was sure that this Malius man didn`t have the guts, too. |

What was up with all that noise?! Thomus could hardly concentrate. Usually the manor was silent, very silent. And that moment it felt like all hell broke lose. Irritated he got up from the table and moved out to the hallway, frowning to himself. What the hell happened? The scene he walked in on was… strange, to put it nicely. There was Monica and Malius and for a short moment Thomus was scared that Edward found her and that it was all over. But then he saw his father, standing on the staircase and Danielle between the two parties. Wait… Danielle? What the hell was she doing there?? Thomus tried to keep calm and think rationally. It failed. Eventually he just clenched his teeth, looked around the room and pulled out his wand. ”I see you found them, father. At least her. I can take care of the man. And Danielle… what the hell?” He wondered, trying to act casual. However he knew something was very wrong. |

Maybe before Malius would have known the right things to say, but surprisingly he had lost some of who he used to be. Not all, no, but enough for there to be holes in his personality persay. It was things that Edward apparently had taken notice to. The girl, the one from before, wasn't a concern to him. At least not till Edward made her one. He didn't know her so why would he have any qualms about hurting her? Granted he wanted to use his wand on Edward more so than the insignificant other, but one doesn't always get the choice. Monica wouldn't be happy about it, but what did she expect? Edward wanted proof and he would give him proof. Taking out his wand he was casual about it as he always was. It was nothing new to him. The added addition to the room was more annoying than necessary. He understood what could be assumed, but he ignored Thomus entirely. Wand pointed instead at Danielle, "Crucio!" Malius had the distaste enough for the woman to back up the spell, because he knew without the emotion behind it it wouldn't do any good. Edward was no doubt looking for that. It was a trade off between spells--between the torturous and the one to tear open her skin with numerous cuts to inflict enough damage to prove a point. He had, at the very least, found an outlet for all the frustration toward Edward. |

Whatever the hell was going on, it was all kinds of screwed up. A bit edgy about Edward's bubbly comment, she still took his hand and walked toward him. It wouldn't be the first time he had done something polite only to be a ass. It was a given too she didn't get much say even if she would give her two cents about it. Under the circumstances, observing sounded better. Being a spectator at that, but Edward wouldn't have that. Well, hell. Anyone who knew about the death-eater's or read the paper knew about Malius. She didn't give a damn about rumors and him leaving or whatnot, because she knew better than to believe a rumor. Just as Danielle turned to answer Thomus, which she was glad he had bothered to show up, she heard the start of the spell. Just the start was enough for her to turn her head back to look at Malius. It was only a momentary glance though before she was on the floor. It was the sort of pain where she hadn't been aware she had even screamed at all until after the fact. Dignity had gone out the window. There was such thing as pain and then there was that. She had watched people afflicted by it, but never had she been on the receiving end. Even when she felt like she could ease up, it was back. No, it was different. It was a ripping and stinging pain that she couldn't even bother describing. It took a few moments for her to even realize she was bleeding and not just a little from some small cut either. Used again. That thought crossed Danielle's mind, but she wasn't budging from her place on the floor. It was useless to try. |

It was so easy to forget who Malius was. Who he used to be. How he used to be. Lately he was nothing else but kind, kind to her and to Elena. Sure, deep inside Monica knew, but… she still kept forgetting every single time. And after hearing Edward`s suggestion she nearly scoffed – there was no way Malius was going to do that. He was going to say something to make Edward change his mind, right? Wrong. The moment she saw Malius` wand pointed at Danielle, she realized what was going to happen. And two things happened at once – she was scared out of her mind and furious at him. It was stupid of course, she had no right to be angry, she knew it, but her immediate reaction was anger. And yet, somehow she found strength inside not to show a goddamn thing. She knew why her father was doing that. If she and Malius were supposedly back together, and she was like she used to be, she wouldn`t let him do that. Things were different, however. They weren`t together. They were doing it for their daughter. If it meant a random person getting hurt… Monica could live with that. It may have made her a horrible person, but she had never been perfect, had she? Instead of reacting she just stood there, her face blank, her eyes on her father. He wasn`t going to win. |
