Edward listened to her rambling on, but he didn`t quite hear her. Potion, month... it still made no sense to him. Unless she had some awful disease and she decided that it was not worth telling him. That, he could understand.

"I was up by then." he answered her. But of course, he wasn`t going to tell her why he was up. Or with who. Shaking his head to get those thoughts out of his head he concentrated on her once more.

And then she didn`t take the bathrobe and put her legs down. He only softly placed his hand over her chest not to let her move further. "I`m not going to let you out in this condition. I hope you understand that." he said, stretching his hand with the robe towards her.

So she felt a little better to the fact that...at least she didn't wake him up on top of everything else. So Juls just tilted her head slightly, now watching him.

Watching him as she attempted to get up, of course. So she just stopped moving when he restricted her movement, halted her ability to stand, and she paused in the process of pulling the blanket off.

He said he wasn't going to leave, but the longer she actually looked at him - his state of appearance - the more she felt like she needed to leave. But this was the problem, all over again. On a much lesser scale - to her opinion - this was her not listening at all, just like before. And she didn't want him to get angry at her, and yet, she didn't want...

Okay, so she was hurt. Just throw it out there and get over it.

"I don't want to be in the way." Juls told him, her voice shaking slightly as she looked from him, to the robe, to the stairs, "I don't..."

Don't want to meet whoever had put that look back in his eyes, underneath the slight concern and confusion.

Edward waited for her to say anything. He knew that she would, sooner or later. But slowly he realized that it annoyed him. The fact that she wanted to go out so badly, even if he made it clear that he wouldn`t let her.

If his wife was back, it didn`t mean that he stopped caring about her. Especially now that he had seen her stumble through the door, looking like she was about to die. Now when she was sitting there still pale and still looking like she was about to die. He didn`t give a shit about what that potion or that disease was. He wasn`t going to let her go when she obviously wasn`t fine.

He realized that this made him angry. Not that much, but still he had to calm it down. It was stupid, really.

When she spoke he wanted to ask her what she was talking about, but then he noticed her glancing at the robe and at the stairs. Was he that obvious? He took a short look at the stairs as well and then looked back at her.

"She`s sleeping." he only said. And it was truth, even though he could make up a lie. he just realized there was no reason to lie.

'She's sleeping'. Was it possible that two words could hurt so much? Two simple words, seemingly innocent. She's sleeping probably was being said right now, from a mother to a friend, talking about her baby. Maybe from a friend to a boyfriend. But hearing it come out of Edward's mouth, those two simple words turned into something ugly. Something twisting into her. Otherwise, why would she feel like this?

A quiet, sharp breath that sounded rather like a sob escaped from Juls' mouth before she could control it, and she looked away from him, blinking furiously, her lips pressed together. Her hands, white-knuckled. No tears. She wasn't going to cry. She couldn't cry. None of them deserved her tears! And yet, she fell into these situations every single bloody time. Why did she even try?

So much for the idea that she was different. That this was any different than any other. Why did he want to keep her here? So he could keep two toys? To see her hurt, to see her realization of how utterly gullible she was? Or because she really did look like crap, and he was a good enough person...

No, stop it right there.

"You don't have to worry about me dying between now and when I get home. I have people who can take care of me, if I really am in danger, there. You don't have to do this..." So silent, it wasn't even speaking. And yet, her voice cracked at the end of it, despite her speaking quietly to hide how upset she suddenly was.

When Elisabeth woke up she realized that Edward wasn`t by her side anymore. Glancing through the window she could see the night slowly disappearing. He always was a morning person. So different from her.

She layed silently few moments, until she heard someone speaking dowanstairs. The only voice she recognized was his. Either the other one was too silent, or he was talking with himself.

Getting up she went to the bathroom, but couldn`t find her red robe. So, instead she took a white one. Less expensive but still nice. Putting it on she let her hair fall over her shoulders. If not the previous night, she could swear that she was still in her own time. Nothing around the house has changed.

Moving out of the room she tried to keep it silent, because Edward might be having a meeting. And she knew how angry he would get if she`d disturb it. Walking down the stairs she saw him at last, sitting on a chair besides a couch.

He was holding her bathrobe. She smiled slightly. "Hey, I`ve just heard someone speaking and-" then she cut off. He wasn`t the only one in the room.

There was a girl on the couch. Of course, she could only see her from behind, but it was pretty obvious. Although her hair looked tragic. But what she was doing there?! With a clear frown she froze on the straicase.

"Who is she?" she asked, trying to keep her voice calm, although some annoyance could be spotted. Edward had a girl in their house. And he was giving the woman hers robe!

Edward could see how her expression changed. He didn`t need to be a seer to understand that she was trying to keep herself from crying. And to hide that fact too. Well, she didn`t do such a good job.

And frankly, it was killing him. He didn`t want her to be sad. Especially not because of him. Not that moment. Maybe he should have lied. But then she would find out sooner or later and that might be even worse. Now he could explain everything to her and maybe she would understand.

"I`m going to do this." he spoke calmly. And he knew he would. Nothing could make him let her go when she was looking like this. "Julianna, listen-" but now it was his turn to break off, when he heard a voice.

Turning to the stairs he saw Elisabeth. Looking a bit more than shocked. And yet, she looked like a ghost to him. Her white skin and the white robe. He blinked few times. It was hard to get used to the idea that she was back.

And then he remembered in what situation he was in. Julianna here, Elisabeth there, neither of them knowing what was really going on. Now he couldn`t even explain it to Juls, because then he would have to say that Liz was dead, which she didn`t quite know.

So, he just glanced down at the red robe in his hands. "This is Julianna." he answered. This was not what she asked, but... dammit, this was already bad, how worse could it get?

Juls wasn't cold. No, alternately, she was ridiculously hot. That was the only logical explanation for the heat behind her eyes. Tears burned there, but none fell. She wouldn't let them.

Juls figured once she let the guilt factor die that he'd let her go. And yet, he was still there, telling her that he was going to keep her there until she was better. Better, that was a joke. It also seemed like he wanted to explain something, and she looked at him. Waiting for him to tell her it was a relative. A cousin, or a sister. A niece. A daughter, for merlinssakes. Anything than what she'd assumed, given his look.

But he was cut off as well, and Juls practically launched herself up, wavering unsteadily for a moment before she was on her feet, and she turned to look at the beautiful, yet annoyed woman on the stairs. In a bathrobe. Just a few years older than herself, Juls approximated, and from the way she was being looked at...

Edward introduced her, but Juls just shook her head. No. She wasn't supposed to meet the person, she was supposed to be gone. All the way gone. Merlin, why wasn't she at the den?

Juls looked at Edward to see him not looking at her, or the woman anymore. At the robe, and she swallowed.

"I was just leaving." She said to whomever the person was.

Elisabeth saw how quickly Edward turned his eyes away from her. From the girl as well. But her turning to look, made Liz see her face. Ridiculous. She looked like she had been sleeping in a rubbish bin for years. Clothes torn apart, all dirty, her hair a mess and actually? She looked paller than her. Which was strange.

Edward gave out her name, but he realized that this was not what she needed. And she knew that he knew. Walking down the stairs she stopped and looked back at him. Who was still not looking at her.

"Interesting." she said. Then the girl spoke and Elisabeth`s eyes shot at her. "Good." she said rather coldly. The next thing she realized was that she was afraid. Who ever this girl was, she was important to him. Other way he would never let someone looking like that stay.

"So, who is she?" she asked once more, her tone much softer than when speaking with her. This was Edward and the one thing she knew was not to make him angry. Not to show annoyance or fear that she was feeling.

Edward pulled his eyes off of the robe at last and looked at Julianna. "I`ve told you." he said, still calmly. This was a mess, but it didn`t make him angry nor sad. It just made him... confused.

"You`re not leaving. Not until you get better." he repeated once more, looking right at her. He didn`t give a damn of what she thought. He was not going to let her go. And who ever was that could take care of her? Well, they would just have to deal with it.

When Elisabeth spoke, he looked back up at her. "I`ve told you already, Elisabeth." he said, quite firmly. He wasn`t angry at her. He just realized that she might actually listen to him if he was a bit colder. Which he hated as well. "This is Julianna. My friend."

He placed the robe on Julianna`s knees. "Put it on. It`s cold." he only said. This was probably cruel, seeing as it was a gift to Liz, but... he didn`t want her to be cold. That was all what he realized.

Once more he looked back down at his hands. "And Liz... she`s not leaving. She can`t." he told her. In the same firm voice.

The way the other woman had spoke to her made Juls realize something. One, that this girl was just like Juls, and instead of trying to hide from the situation, she was being a bitch. And when she spoke to her in a less than companionable tone?

Juls nearly growled. Turning abruptly from her, she instead looked at Edward. He still tried to give her the robe, but seeing who's it was, she didn't want it. So instead she took the blanket and planted herself, wrapping it around her firmly.

"I'm not going to get better, and what I need is at home." Still, Juls didn't go towards the door. She didn't think Edward would touch her.

Especially after he introduced her as 'his friend'. Great. Lovely. Juls ran her hands over her face, trying to squash whatever the emotions were - jealousy, hurt, anger, annoyance, general exhaustion - and figure out how to get through this.

She kept pointing out logical things, "I don't have any clothes, or tolietries, or anything."

And then as a side note, smiling a little to herself, "And its not something I get 'better' with, anyways."

Somehow, the woman coming down made her feel less like she wanted to flee, and more like she wanted to hear Edward tell her he wanted her to stay - for more than just the fact she looked ill. Yet, Juls knew it was a competition she already lost.

Two things made Elisabeth`s heart thudder with fear. First, the tone in his voice as he was speaking with her, and second, his words. His friend? He didn`t have female friends. Actually, she doubted that he had any friends at all.

Females were weak and not worth much. That was what he kept telling her all the time. And now he said that this woman was his friend. This was not him speaking. It couldn`t be. What the hell happened when she left?

And now she was even more scared. This woman was a threat to her life, her marriage and even her last name. Swallowing painfully, because her throat was so dry, she moved forwards.

Passing the couch she reached him and placed her hands on his shoulders from the back. Then leaned down a bit, her hands slipping on his chest. She placed her hand so that her wedding ring could be seen clearly. Just to show that Julianna woman that he was hers. And she was not going to give up.

"Well, maybe you want anything?" she asked, watching Julianna, her voice now sweet. She smirked then, knowing well that Edward couldn`t see it. But the woman could. "Water, tea? Maybe a pepper up potion? Those work if you had a rough night." she kept on speaking, looking directly at her clothes, her smirk looking pretty much like a sneer.

Edward shook his head. "Julianna, I won`t let you leave until you stop looking so pale and being so hot. Because believe it or not, you can find here everything that you can find in your place." he said firmly.

He noticed how Elisabeth`s face changed as she heard his words. She looked somehow scared. And he didn`t even bother to figure it out.

The next thing he knew, she was walking towards him and he couldn`t pull his eyes away. The contrast between two women was obvious. She was perfect. And he wasn`t scared to admit it. Then she slipped his hands on his chest and spoke.

He could smell her scent and his eyelids dropped over his eyes for a second. Few months ago he would have given up anything to feel like this again. But now he felt guilty for clearly enjoying Elisabeth`s touch, while being in front of Juls. It just felt wrong.

Juls watched, her eyes narrowing slightly as she watched the woman walk over and possessively hang onto Edward. She noted how he reacted, and though her stomach lurched, she didn't visibly react to the fact she had a ring on.

A ring.

Immediately Juls eyes dropped to Edward's hands, just as a confirmation, but in reality, his reaction to her touch was enough.

Not bothering to hide her animosity, Juls glared at the woman as she condescendingly asked if she needed anything, and purposely tilted her head. "Sleep and some care will fix any internal things...a little TLC from... 'my friend' at home..." Languid, and warm-toned.

As for external? A small smile rose to her lips as she tilted her head, closing her eyes as the leaves and twigs slowly dropped out of her hair as it became sleek, running down her back smoothly. Her skin color darkened, just enough to make her look healthy again, the tone hiding the cuts. What was the worth of being a metamorphagus if you didn't use it to hide once and again? Now, if one didn't look into her eyes or at her clothes, she looked perfectly fine.

Now she just needed Edward to let her go. Why she even wanted him to say it was beyond her, other than it might give her some closure.

It usually freaked people out when she changed appearances, she knew. Though she didn't change how she looked other than to clean up, it was still 'weird'. And so she waited.

"I'm not pale." She pointed out, opening her eyes once again to look at him, and only him. Ignoring the other woman, of course.

"And I always run hot, you know that..." A wink, and Juls was standing up again. Maybe there was some way to salvage her clothes...

She tied the tears together on her shirt, and her shorts weren't a problem. Though the get up was more...mixture of sweet and rebel during the summer, at least she didn't look homeless. A little more bare than she'd want, and the outfit not clean, but it'd do long enough to step outside, apparate home, and walk in.

Elisabeth kept standing in the same position. She could feel Julianna`s emotions and it bugged her because they were a mess. She couldn`t figure it out. Edward`s emotions getting into her didn`t help much too.

So much she realized was that he enjoyed her touching him. That he also felt guilty about it. And that he had feelings for the other woman. That was the worst thing she realized and it hurt a lot. Hell a lot.

As the girl`s hair started to change her eyes went wide. Then her skin darkened as well. It took Elisabeth few moments to understand what was going on. A metamorphagus... one more quality that Edward hated. She didn`t say anything. It was hard.

Edward was happy about one thing - Elisabeth was behind him, so that meant that he could watch Julianna and not think about where to look. Watching her was perfectly fine. He opened his mouth to say something to her, when suddenly her hair began changing.

He watched it, no emotion on his face. Her hair changed her skin darkened... and she was standing up fixing her clothes. Now this... this was too much. Not only what happened, but also the way she began reacting. Hell knew, maybe it was on purpose, but... it worked well enough.

He jumped up, throwing Elisabeth`s hands off of his chest by accident. A damn metamorphagus. And he thought he knew her. How wrong he was? What the hell else she was hiding from him?

This time he didn`t even try to erase the anger from his face or his eyes. This was the worst thing that she had done so far. Not only to object his care so rudely. But also to do this in front of Elisabeth. After all what he had done for her...

"Great." he spat out, glaring at her. If she wanted this... she got it. This was enough. He spent all morning sitting beside her, even if the love of his life was upstairs. He talked his wife down, just because he wanted to make sure that Julianna was okay. What the hell was wrong with her?! What did he have to do to make her realize how much he cared for her??

Shaking his head, Edward found himself breathing heavily. "Get the hell out of here. Unless there are some more things you`d like to throw in my face." he growled. Probably she`d never understand how much she had just hurt him. After everything...

His anger. It was both what she expected, and what she had wanted, but she still felt sick to her stomach as she looked at him, following his gaze as he stood up. He towered over her, and although her eyes were still tired, still firm in her conviction, a shadow of regret passed through them.

Usually, what he said would have angered her, but she just shook her head.

"I already said I would leave, Edward."
Her voice was quiet and calm compared to his loud anger. "I am a metamorphagus. That's who I am. Its not like I ever told you otherwise. But thats not as bad as you. You could have just told me you had a wife."

She would have stepped back if there wasn't a couch there, but instead she stepped forward, right up against him. Even quieter, she whispered, "I would haven't come with you the first night if I'd have known."

And then she waited for him to push her away. That was all the closure she needed, and she felt...resigned to it.

Elisabeth took a step back as he stood up so quickly. She wrapped her hands over her chest, narrowing her eyes slightly. He was angry. Way too angry. If this was just another girl, he wouldn`t have gotten so angry. And that was what scared her so much.

Yet as he spoke she couldn`t help but smirk. What ever it was what he was feeling, his pride was too thick to let it through. At least it used to.

Edward felt how his anger went somewhere away. If she had left, he would still be angry. But her staying and talking silently just made him calm down somehow. And it was strange to him because that never happened before. Only with Julianna.

At her words he felt a painful sting in his heart. Either it was because of her words, or because of the fact that technically his wife was still dead. He only swallowed hard, trying to clear his throat.

"I wouldn`t have been sitting in that bar trying to get drunk and forget about her, if I knew that she was here." he answered as silently as her. That moment he actually forgot that Elisabeth was there. His mind erased that fact.

Because clearly her being close affected him as well. Not in the way that Liz had. But this just made him... a different person than he was. Elisabeth made him feel angry about things, and Julianna changed it all.

He didn`t know what he was doing. He didn`t care much. That moment he even couldn`t care. So, instead of doing the obvious and pushing her away he found himself leaning in and kissing her. To hell with everything. He had already lost it all anyway.

Juls didn't understand. She didn't understand at all. When did she leave? Why was he trying to forget about her? What was going on?

Either way, the fact still remained that he was married, and that he couldn't accept her for who she was. Juls knew he would not like that she was a metamorphagus. No one could accept it, and she didn't understand why. she never used it to be untrustworthy. That was the way to go, she knew. She'd done it on purpose.

But then he wasn't pushing her away, he wasn't yelling at her...he was...kissing her?

She was reacting before she could even help herself, her fingers fisting the material of his shirt, holding on for dear life as she instantly kissed back. The moment she started thinking again though, she forced her hands to open, and let go, and she stared at him in shock.

Elisabeth was waiting for Edward to yell at the woman and tell her to leave. That was what he was going to do. But then he didn`t, she could feel how he calmed down. And once again she was scared.

Even thought she felt a bit better at his words. He missed her. He needed her. And he was trying to forget her. It didn`t mean that he had. Which was a good sign.

But then something horrible happened and she could feel her insides dying. He kissed her, knowing perfectly that she was in the room, standing right behind him. And yet he kissed a girl who was a metamorphagus, who had looked like hell just a second ago.

She couldn`t take it. She wasn`t that way. Raising her hand up to her mouth she took a step back, stunned. It hurt. A lot. And she couldn`t keep it away. She felt tears rolling down her cheeks. This wasn`t happening. This wasn`t Edward. And he didn`t kiss that woman.
