It had been a long night and after dropping off several of the injured guards to St Mungo's, Emma returned back home to an empty flat. It felt weird for Katie not to be there but she was at her mother's until the morning, so they would have the rest of the night in peace.

Kevin wasn't back yet but she wasn't surprised seeing as he was standing in as Head... or was it Deputy? (Emma had seen Lynx at Azkaban but she couldn't be sure if she was still on maternity leave or not. She was sure Kevin was still at St Mungo's dealing with dropping of casualties.

Safely home, Emma heaved a sigh of relief that the battle was over. These attacks did take a lot out of you. Changing into a pair of light cotton pajamas and pulling a pillow and blanket off the bed and the first aid kit out a cupboard, Emma returned to the living-room settling herself on the sofa and set about cleaning up the odd cuts and bruises she'd accumulated from the battle. She'd settle down and wait up for Kevin, and if she dozed off, so be it. It was late after all. Pulling her book off the coffee table where it lay in front of her, she sat back under the blanket to read.

December, already... well into December just under two weeks till the big day and the flat had yet to look like a fully transformed Santa's grotto. Emma had returned home at the end of that evening, with a large tree which she planned on decorating and a heaving box filled with decorations and a wide variety of everything and anything Christmasy.

Decked out in a warm red woolen jumper complete with the santa hat Abi had given her for christmas the previous year, Emma had been stood facing the oversized tree or ages, a few string of fairy lights and tinsel draped over her shoulders wondering where to begin, before starting with the lights. She preferred to decorate at Christmas the Muggle way. Katie was dressed much the same in a red romper suit and baby santa hat, playing with her toes and watching her mommy work.

Emma had spent quite a time on the tree, adding tinsel here and there, a few baubles... before branching out and attacking the otherwise bare room with tinself and lights. It looked a tad... garish... but no one coul say it didn't look Christmasy. She's had to stand on chairs to reach the ceiling to string tinsel about the room but without her wand the angle was the last decoration to put up.

She's set out the various Christmas cards she and Kevin had recieved, atop any spare work surface in the house and hung a wreath outside the flat door. Now all they needed was presents to put under the tree and whilst Emma had packd a few, the rest were all safely hidden away.

Having left Jentry the note, Kevin was having a hard time exactly seeing straight. For one thing- he couldn't figure out why, but there seemed to be a burning wish for him now. He felt...lighter. Free, except he couldn't remember being trapped in the first place. He hadn't ever been kidnapped- and the closest he'd come to death literally was the one time that Gilbert and Anonymous had attacked the headquarters here in France. There was no physical reason to feel burdensome now, he supposed. But why he felt so light...he couldn't fathom.

If he came right down to it- he was having conflicting issues internally at the moment with different desires. Different wants. For one thing, he was almost sick with worry that Andromeda was hurt. If he didn't know that going after her alone was going to result in his death- he still was having a hard time not doing it. But why? His common sense was saying one thing, but he wanted her free and safe...

At the same time, he wanted to be home with his wife. Home with his family. Abi was safe, christmas was coming--and he was going to be in the midst of a mess of trouble over Azkaban. So why couldn't he bring himself to focus on either?

He was having a hard time as well, because Tiger's face kept leaping to the front of his mind, twisting and contorting his features inside. On the one hand- he was infuriated with himself for nearly killing her- that had not been his intent. But on the other, considering what she'd put Emma through, she wasn't worth any sort of apology. And he couldn't exactly remember where he'd put that belt...but he wasn't quite so worrisome about that. Tiger had been the first person he'd ever physically put in jail he'd been personally vendetted against. And he wanted her back there. He wanted her back. It was driving him crazy.

Conflicting wants and desires...and all of them insane? What the hell had gotten into him? What he figured he wanted most was just to decide already. So he made a conscious decision to head home with his family, home for Christmas, if only for a moment or two.

"Emmaaaaa!!!" He called out, as he entered- his arms full of presents as well and not seeing her. He had of course, wrapped some at the Headquarters before being interrupted- and the rest he didn't mind her seeing. Apparently realizing that he looked like a giant pile of presents talking, he let them tumble forward (all right- so they might have fallen)- and bounced to see the tree, his wife, and his daughter, playing on the floor. Singing merrily, he bustled over to lean down and kiss Katies forehead, apparently interrupting her from playing. She made a small squeak to recognize him, and he ruffled her hair back, grinning.

"God rest ye merry hippogriffs..." He started belting out, delighted to see she was giggling. He stood back up, and kissed his wife's cheek as well. "Happy Christmas, love. You look like you've been busy." It was a remark to both the tree--and the pile of presents beneath it. As though he was four, he remarked, "Oh! What did you get me?"

He looked down at Katie again, grinning. He was himself wearing a long-ago gift of Abi's- a bright red sweater over the white shirt and jeans-- but he was at that moment missing his santa hat.

"What did Mommy get me?" He asked, feigning a wink. "I promise, I won't tell her you told me.."

Emma was busily arranging the presents under the tree when the door opened and what appeared to be a life sized pile of presents walked in. Had it not been for the sound of her name sounding from behind said pile, in a very familiar voice, she might have thought she'd spent too much time around the tinsel and eggnog.

Christmas always seemed to bring out the best in everyone and her husband was no except. Utterly cheerful, Emma dusted off her trousers, standing up from where she crouched beside the tree to greet him with a kiss, eyeing the pile of presents as they tumbled to the floor. "I guess we' ll have to find spots around the tree for these. Looks like I'm not the only one who's got into the festive spirit. We look likefamily off of a Christmas card."

Emma mock cringed as Kevin belted out a few lines of 'God Rest Ye Merry Hppogryphs,' earning her a laugh from little Katie. "Thought I'd get the flat all set for Christmas. Katie helped me pick her Christmas socking at the store earlier today as well, so Santa has somewhere to put her presents."

She raised an eyebrow as Kevin eyed the gifts under the tree and tried to get information out of their daughter. Emma laughed. "That would be telling. You'll just have to be a good boy and wait until Christmas and no use trying to weedle information out of Katie. She's been sworn to secrecy." Even after saying that, Emma couldn't help poking around the presents Kevin had let drop. "Anything for me in amongst those? Or is my present hidden away somewhere safe and sound?"

With a good-natured frown, Kevin teased Emma back saying, "Oh no, you'll have to wait if I do..." He grinned, as he did- of course- have the wrapped presents to her in there (well, perhaps not all of them). Bouncing again, Kevin laughed and nodded.

"Speaking of which...did we send out those cards?" He'd ... forgotten. It was pretty much to be expected- with everything that was going on. He hadn't exactly expected that he would lose both his cousins without knowing where either of them had gone- or that he would then be forced to sign over rights to Azkaban, or even that Jentry would burst in on him mysteriously sick, and then...well, there was a lot going on. He shrugged, not thinking about it after a moment and brightening up again.

"We're a regular old after-lessons special." He laughed, eyeing the stocking on the mantle. It sat beneath the pictures from their honeymoon, and basically every move Katie had made since she'd been born. With another booming sort of laugh, he added, "I'll be a good boy..." He paused, tilting his eyes away from Katie for a moment and arching his eyebrow.

"Unless you would prefer to be naughty. Save Santa a trip..."

Emma pouted hearing that she'd have to wait for her present just like everyone else. But then what was Christmas without presents and if she opened them now what would there be to open on Christmas day?

"Don't worry, all the cards have been sent. No need to worry about those. Now you. Come sit down, relax, put your feet up. You've been working too hard lately and need a break. It' Christmas after all." Emma laughed, ushering Kevin toward the sofa. She giggled at the comparison Kevin made and couldn't agree more. Santa hats, red and white tops.

Emma tilted her head to one side at Kevin's word, a sly smile adorning her face as she crossed, dropping onto his lap. "Well... as long as Katie's good and gets her presents...A little misbehaving wouldn't go amiss."

----------------------------------------------

Christmas morning, already. Emma loved this time of year! Pulling on her dressing gown and slipping on her slippers and Santa hat, Emma gave a sleeping Kevin a nudge to wake im, before disappearing out the room to get Katie for her first Christmas.

Katie was already awake and babbling away to herself in her crib and didn't potest to her Mommy, lifting her from her crib and popping her little santa hat on her head, before being carried out to the living-room and set on a blanket on the floor. Katie seemed quite happy sitting up for herself and continuing to babblay, taking in the twinkling lights on the tree and the brightly lit presents underneath it.

Emma was impatient to start opening present . It was Christmas! Katie had socking filled with presents hanging over the mantle piece and Emma was excited to see her open her gifts. "Come on, sleepyhead. Santa's been! We want presents!

Basically bouncing downstairs, Kevin first insisted on gathering a magical-camera, taking fourteen photo's of the tree, lights, and the like before burrowing back into his bed. Except it was only a few more minutes before he realized Emma was calling him back downstairs. Bouncing back out of bed again, he almost tripped before coming downstairs.

"Whoops. Sorry." He called, still grinning, his eyebrow arched.

"Well hey, would you look at that?" He kissed Katie's forehead, before Emma's cheek as well, and ruffled back Katie's hair while looking at the tree.

"You've got presents, Katie! Youuuu must have been very good!"

Emma was greatly amused by Kevin's antics - taking pictures, popping upand down the stairs, grinning ear to ear. Emma could just tell that loving Christmas ran in the family. "You've been a little angle, haven't you, Sweetheart?" Emma agreed, binginhe stocking over from the matlepiece and setting it before a very curious Katie.

"Shall we see what Santa got you?" Emma reached into the stcking bringing out the first small, wrapped gift and passed it to Katie, reaching forward to help her open it. Inside was a little stuffed toy of an elephant but it was quickly apparent that Katie was more interested in the wrapping paper it had come wrapped in, putting the corner straight into her mouth and sucking on it.

Emma laughed, "Look Katie. An elephant... Well she seems to like that gift." She reached under tree, fishing around for a gift for Kevin to open while they worked on the stocking. "Ah ha... This one's for me." She handed him a large, squidgy package.

Laughing, "Well, she seems to like the wrapping it came in, anyways..." Kevin unveiled a gift for Katie as well. First, he grins that while it's unwrapped, he'd given her a gift of a cute little "Minnie Mouse" dress. It was incredibly puffy, but it looked to be pretty comfortable. Dress.

Accepting the gift from Emma, Kev picked it up, unwrapping the emerald coat and starting to grin.

"Oh!" Standing up, he spun the coat on, pulled it closer to him, and pretended to begin strutting like a model. "Batting" his eyelashes and laughing heartily and merrily as he did so, he said again,

"How do I look?"

As he modeled, however, he reached down to lift a box for Emma, wrapped in fluffy paper.

Emma tried hard not to laugh as Kevin 'strutted his stuff', really she was but the laughter was just to much to contain. Between breaths however, she did manage to get out the words, "You know it's scary just how well you do that," with a rather cheeky grin, hiding momentarily behind the box Kevin handed her as she tried to rid herself of the giggles. "You look very dashing," she added truthfully.

The Minnie Mouse dress Kevin had got for Katie was adorable. She would look lovely wearing it, along with several little tops and pairs of trousers that had found their way into her stocking and under the tree.

Emma set about pulling the fluffy white paper off of the box in her lap, nodding towards another squidgy gift for Kevin, this time from Katie and passing over a smaller box shaped parcel from her. "There's one more gift from me after that," she nodded towards a think envelope sat up o the mantle piece before turnign back to the bo in her lap. "What's Daddy got for Mommy? Hey, Katie." Katie was too enthralled in the wrapping paper to care much. Inside was a beautiful lace ciffon, wrap top in a wonderful shade of wine...plum colour, along with a fabulous pair of fitted, white flare jeans.

"Oh Kevin, these are brilliant. Thank you." Emma leant forward kissing him softly in thanks. "When I get dressed, these are going on, especially for Christmas.

Several present exchanges later and a living room stew with wrapping paper, and the family settled down to their Christmas meal, before settling in front of their Muggle television set stuffed with turkey and drowsy afte the busy day.

Katie dosed easily and while Kevin was settling her in the nursery, Emma began to clear up, stumbling upon a parcel sat on the windowsill by the open window where the he owls delivered their mail. Curious, Emma reached for the parcel and lifted the tag on the parcel. It was addressed to Katie. Emma read on and instantly her gaze darkened. The rest of the message on the card, read:

Quote:

Merry Christmas

Matthew

She didn't even bother to open the gift, she wouldn't. What in Merlin's name was he doing sending her daughter a Christmas present? He had absolutely no right. He might be Katie's father in blood but that was about as far as it went. Emma was almost in a mind to throw it into the fieplace but decided against it. No. He could have it right back. Tucking it under her arm, she headed past the nursery where Kevin was saying a final goodnight to his daughter, and headed to their bedroom, showing Matthew's gift to the very back of their wardrobe and slipping ingto bed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leaving Andy's, Emma decided to circle back to the flat to see if Kevin had been home to give him the truth about Katie's paternity and where she was headed. Even thought she had asked Andy to let him know what was happening, she stil felt it a good idea he hear it from her also.

Upon entering the flat, it was clearly apparent that Kevin had not been home, so she decided that leaving him a note would be fine. Setting the gift from Matthew that she had tucked under her arm, aside, Emma drew a sheet of parchment towards her with a quill and scribbled a note.

Quote:

Kevin

There's somthing that you should know. I took Katie for her routine check-up with Chris and apparently someone sent us results that had been altered - You are Katie's biological father! The results in her file stated this; the copy we got was the only one that stated otherwise. It had to have been Matthew who changed the results. He was the only other person who could have known that he would have possibly have been Katie's father.

I know you're not going to like what I'm about to say but I have to do this. I'm going to sort things out with Matthew once and for all, face to face. He's really taken a step to far this time. He sent Katie a Christmas present! I didn't open it - I want to throw it back in his face.

Katie is with Andy. I asked her to let you now where I was going but I thought I'd make doubly sure with this note. You can follow if you wish. I'm not really sure where to find him but thought I'd take a look at Majeste D'ivoire first then if not, the cemetary. Matthew is not going to get away with this.

Emma

Setting the note on the coffee table, and grabbing up te gift, Emma turned and left...

There was a soft "click" and the door moved inward, opening to reveal the masked and cloaked DE. Ramon smiled beneath the hood as he stepped over the threshhold. Sara had done well. The wards would have been quite challenging had it not been for Andy's information.

He walked into the darkened house, his wand tip alight and shining a faint light through the place. It was nice...a cozy little flat. He smiled...then frowned...noone was home. Snarling he kicked the couch, prowling through the house. Then he spotted a note on the table, leaning down, he picked it up and began to read.

Tigs apparated directly to Ramon, seeing as he left her no information on where she was supposed to be going, and promptly ran into him. Naturally, if you're apparating by thinking of someone with a nondescript room around them, and they're not moving, you're going to collide.

As it was, she just stepped back and said quietly, "I'm going to assume..."

Naturally she could see the pictures, "Someone got the information."

She crossed her arms, as clearly no one was here, and just leaned against the wall she'd stepped into when she backed up. This was Ramon's operation, she was just helping.

Jordan didn't see the need for her wand yet considering she was only half aware of what was going on; She needed to learn to pay attention more often. Though as she apparated outside the flat she then walked in and leaned against the back of the couch. Naturally she'd just wait till someone said something she needed to actually respond to before saying anything.

Ramon had to quickstep sideways in order to avoid Tiger's enterence. That would be a wise assumption. He said destractedly as he finished reading the note. He looked up as he finished and handed the note to Tiger, aknowledging Jordan with a slight nod.

He cleared his throat Yes...Sara did an excellent job procuring the information from Mrs. Grant...in the SHORT PERIOD WE HAD HER He ground the last part out in a frustrated voice.

He nodded to the note, It would appear that we must move quickly if we are to capitalize on this turn of events...however...we can spin this in our favor. If we are able to take her in...all suspicion will be on Mr. Berenson leaving us with considerable time to function before the aurors suspect us.

Tigs took the note and read it, before rolling her eyes, "Hissy fits. Alright, where is this Majeste D'ivoire?"

Tigs passed the letter to Jordan to read, though what was important had already been said outloud. She knew, of course, from their last meeting that Ramon wanted to kidnap EMma, but she didn't know where they were going to keep them. "Details later." She nodded, pulling up her hood.

"Though we do need a place to keep them." But they could deal with that when they had her.

"Well if you had left her with someone a bit more reilable," Jordan said.

Really she didn't know Sara well enough to make assumptions, so. Still, she took the note from Tigs and read it over quickly thought mostly everything that was needed was said outloud. Afterward she put the note down and slid her hood up.

"If we're able to? You shouldn't doubt us," Jordan then stated, though her tone was condescending.

Ramon paused, thinking for a moment. Temporarily we could keep her at the Old Grimassi Manor...noone goes to that place these days and its been empty for years. He took the note and placed it back on the table. That should destract them for a while

His eyes flashed dangerously at Jordans comments...both of them. He turned to her, his eyes glinting viciously in the dim light. And you shouldnt try my patience Morvanna He said, his voice deadly and calm...yet cold as ice. If I want your opinion...I will give it to you...because reguardless of what thoughts go on inside that pretty skull of yours...I am still your superior.

He turned back to Tiger The Majeste D'ivoire is a suburb of paris...well need to do a little looking once were there.

Tigs simply arched her eyebrow at Jordan's commentary, but she was obviously amused at how riled up it made Ramon.

"Now now children..." She cooed, smirking all the while. "Lets concentrate on the matter at hand, and then once I leave you two can kill each other. Sound good? Fantastic."

Jordan merely rolled her eyes, though she did not say anything else. Tugging her hood up - Tigs has chosen to go with a deep purple this time, just because she wanted to - her face turned exasperated as her hidden eyes looked up at the ceiling. Or rather, her hood.

"Oh wonderful. They would, really."

Well, at least maybe it'd be useful in asking the people there if they'd seen the other woman. The older ones didn't like speaking English.

Ramon eyed them tiredly. Alright...lets go...wait for me in the hallway. Ramon waited untill both of the girls had exited the appartment before looking over everthing. Once he was satisfied that every thing was as it had been when he had entered he exited the appartment, relocking it and replacing the wards he had removed.

Once in the hall, he held out his arm. Ready? He asked.

It only took Ramon a few moments before he was out with them, but still any moment dragged, and Tigs began impatiently tapping her foot to some unknown song in her head. When he did come back out, though, Tigs said snarkily, "Obviously."

But she still took his arm, turning to see what Jordan was going to do. When the girl twisted her lips disgustedly, Tigs simply laughed and grabbed the other girl's hand. "Go."
