Emma was dressed by the time Kevin got back with a dressed and changed Katie bouncing on her hip and babbling away. Emma was just pulling on her shoes and crossed the room to greeting their daughter with a kiss, grinning as Katie greeted her with 'Mama!! Kissmas!' "It certainly is. Are you excited?" Katie nodded. "Daddy's got a big surprise for Mommy. Lots of things to unlock. Want to help?" Katie was positively bouncing now and Emma hooked her arm through Kevin's. "Ready? Want me to close my eyes?" She did so anyway. It was a surprise afterall. |

At the remark, Kevin chuckled lightly and leaned to kiss her cheek while she closed her eyes. He wasn't entirely sure if she had any inkling what it was he'd done, but he remarked, "No peeking!" He said it first in French and then again in English, as he was doing with both of them lately. Emma was beginning to pick up words with her "lessons", and Katie would be speaking both he assumed. Being bilingual had always helped him, after all. He hooked his arm as well and turned on his heel to disapparate all three of them along. |

Now that Emma was officially on maternity and could see the approach of her due date, she couldn't help but think just how much there really was left to do. They still had to move, from the flat to the house Kevin had bought them for Christmas. Pack up all their things, move them from one house to the other and find a place for everything. Not to mention Katie's room would need setting up and the nursery painted... several rooms painted even, if they wanted to put their own stamp on the place. Katie needed to be weaned out of her crib, unless they bought a second one for the baby, in which case they needed to go shopping. Shopping for baby supplies, clothes, toys, nappies...Things for the new house. Emma had yet to book her final scan before the big day or to pack her overnight bag for when she had to go to the hospital. They had to figure out who was going to look after Katie when they were in the hospital to deliver - her parents probably. Everything was just piling up and piling up. It was almost overwhelming for the eight month pregnant Emma, as she found herself sat on the living-room floor by a bookcase and cabinet, surrounded by boxes, books, albums, ornaments and odds and ends. How she got down there herself, she wasnt entirely sure (or how she'd get back up again) but she was making a start on packing and sorting. Katie watched her, from her playpen set up nearby. |

~ NCP Margret and Gregory Hope - Emma's parents ~ Lifting a hand to knock on the door, Margret adjusted her heavy handbag on her her shoulder, the bag containing a couple of cupcakes for Katie and a chocolate cake for Emma and Kevin, although seeing as how her daughter's appetite had grown over the last couple of months, she doubted Kevin would get a look in. Beside her, her husband carried a small bag containing a small rag-doll they'd picked up in the week for her. They hadn't owl'd to say they were coming or phone'd but that never seemed to matter. Knocking they waited until they heard a muffled reply from their daughter somewhere in the house, before letting themselves in. "Only us!" Karen chirped, hanging her coat up on one of the spare hooks in the hallways and making her way through into the living-room, setting her bag down on the sofa. The sight of all the boxes and Emma sat on the floor had her raise her eyebrows. "Love, you know you're not meant to be doing any heavy lifting or anything strenuous, especially in your third trimester." Karen sighed and moved closer kneeling on the floor beside her giving her a hug. Meanwhile, Greg having hung up his own coat grinned at Emma, "Afternoon, Sport. Getting a headstart on packing?" before heading over to Katie with the bag. At the sight of her grandparents, Katie was already standing up against the bars of her playpen reaching up to be held. "Papa!!"[/b] she squealed, giggling as he scooped her up and spun her round. "What's Papa got for his little angel?" Katie's little hands were already reachign for the bag and Greg moved to the sofa sitting down and held open the bag. Katie reached inside, pulling out the ragdol hugging it to her with a big grin before holding it up for her mum to see. 'Mummy! Lookie! A dollie, Mummy!"[/b] Edited by Isabelle West, Feb 22 2010, 07:51 PM.

Emma heard the knock at the door and had called out she was coming... somehow. Getting up was going to be slow going. Luckily, she didn't have to worry about that because the door opened anyway, the wards on the flat letting her parents through without hindrance. "Mum? Dad? What're you doing here?" Of course, she didn't really need to ask, seeing as they'd taken to popping around unannounced now and again since she went on maternity leave and was home a lot with Katie on her own until Kevin got home from work. She rolled her eyes as her mother mentioned heavy lifting, reaching up to give her hug as she joined her on the floor. "Not heavy lifting. Heavy levitating. I doubt it's the same. I got down here about an hour ago to sort through a few things and took a while trying to get back up again, so decided why not try and sort through the whole cabinet and bookcase." Emma nodded to the two filled boxes at her side and the half filled one she was working on filling. Emma looked up at her dad with a warm smile and nodded with a sigh. "Just too much still to do before the baby arrives. If I can get some stuff sorted and packed, it's one less thing to worry about." Then she'd move on to the next task. She watched as her dad scooped up Katie and how her daughter squealed. Katie adored her grandparents and they adored her. Eyeing the plastic bag as he moved with Katie to the sofa, Emma rolled her eyes. "Mum, Dad you can't keep spoiling her like this..." Of course, this was only said half-heartedly. Katie was obvious thrilled with her dollie. "Now, that is a lovely dollie. Are you going to thank Granny and Papa?" Katie grinned and nodded, lifting up her little arms and giving her Grandpa a big hug and leant up to kiss his cheek, before turning and grinning at her Gran. "Frank you!" Emma and her parents laughed. "Fancy giving me a hand with these boxes? And, mum. What's in that bag?" She could smell cake a mile away. |
