We REALLY need this!!!

I could make a separate forum, advertise for it, and everything...

It may not even have to have "PMF" in its name, we just need people to learn how to sprite- otherwise we'll continue to have people coming from Serebii.

Let's look at the facts.

In baseball, the Florida Marlins have won 2 championships in less than two decades of existence. The Florida Marlins also have one of the lowest payrolls, and tend to get rid of their starts at the primes of their careers.

My point is, the Florida Marlins use a fantastic minor league system to win championships- whereas teams like the Yankees have been losing as of late, as they are simply getting players like A-Rod, Johnny Damon, and LaTroy Hawkins off of free agency.

We need to stop having people say "I spriter I come from Serebii"

We need to convert current active forumers who do not sprite into active spriters. This can be done by having a proper training course, and in-depth one to specify. What we have now is not sufficient, and the fact that there are few (if any) tutorials to find on here does not help. Also, the less people there are spriting, the less people there are to help. (That being said, starting this up with few spriters will be tough, but it will eventually become bigger.)

Ethan, PMF has been dying for the past year. It's because everyone at PMF wants change, but no one's dedicated enough to do it.

How is that fixed? What's been done towards the growth of PMF? You want change. A few spriters want change. Revolution much?

So PMV doesn't count as helping PMF?

And I'm part of your "admins that don't want change" list?

I'm working hard, you know. I want PMF back on its feet. I'm going to spread PMV out when the first beta comes out and advertise PMF like you'll newer believe.

Look around. People are already starting to sprite again for PMV, even though their creations may not be accepted.

Don't tell me I'm not making a difference. Don't generalize me.

@Diggeh: I didn't mean you, I probably should have said just Shed. Each time a good idea pops up he shoots it down.

Diggeh, I'm sure PMV will get a lot of people to PMF if..

+ ...it's released before we reach 2010.
+ ...people can be involved in (making) a SEQUEL.
+ ...it becomes a hit due to large amounts of PMF inside jokes.

I'll be honest, I CANNOT WAIT to play it, but my faith in a release date within 2008 is decreasing.

You want me to release it within 2008?

Sure.

It'll just have rushed scripts, unedited overworld sprites, incomplete dex entries and mediocre, incomplete dialog.

I'm not cranking out games here. I want PMV to be an amazing experience based off of creative mixes sprited by members. Besides, Shiny Gold's been in production for two years now and look how awesome it is.

Pfft, sequel? Why don't you try hacking and see how long it takes YOU to finish a game.

So, sure. I'll release it by December on your request, Jamie. It'll just suck.

Now, back on topic. We tried a Spriter's School before, but like PMR, nobody ever used it. That's why Shed scrapped it.

Lol I never said that. But PMV isn't preventing PMF from downfall. I know you're not the newest Nintendo, neither did I expect you to "crank" out a sequel. I'm just saying that people like to be involved. They see a forum that made a spriting game with the members in it, they want one of their own. they don't get one? They leave.

I'm not trying to put pressure on you. I'm just telling you that PMV isn't helping PMF in any way except for an enjoyable one. I haven't seen anyone pick up spriting again, just people posting old sprites.

I didn't request anything. But I what I can tell you for free is that by December we'll have lost more members than we'll have gained. It's called decline.

i'd have to say i agree that pmf is dying. you know what we can do? Advertise. but first we have to get people ACTIVE again. i bet i could dig you guys up ten directory sites if i had to! make an ad, make a button, get affiliates, and get the word out.

of course, we have to make everything watertight here FIRST.

look, i know i'm still a newb here and people won't listen to me mostly, but listen now. i've seen it happen time and time again with roleplays. internal conflict causes inactivity, lack of advertising until the last gasp causes death. trust me on this one, please.

it is what is needed i've had experience with this sort of thing. i've saved two roleplay sites from the brink of death, and they're thriving again. trust me on this one.

PMF, in my mind, is already dead. We are the last living cells on its body, very slowly going through mitosis. We die before multiplying...

and a LOT of it is this mentality. make pmf LIVE. you make it live or die. have a member cleanout, email everyone to get off their butts or they'll get deleted. get rid of the old cells then. and bring in the new ones.

stop thinking 'oh boo hoo. we're going to die. why bother?'
because it WILL if everyone keeps thinking like that! star up more activities, make members WANT to get involved. offer prizes or something.

because quite frankly, crying in a goddamn corner isn't going to do ANYTHING.

this is the place that started me in spriting. if i have to advertise my brains out and have no one else do a single thing, so be it. i will make the advertisement. i will make the button. i will find the sites. i till get the word out, even if every single person on this site is unwilling to do much more than sit in THIS corner here. and go boo hoo.

warn me if you like. this is what i say.
it'd be a good idea to listen. >:[

not new staff. new mentality. a group can override a single person. i respect shed and everyone of course. BUT if they ban us all, then we can make our own site after pmf, and they'll be left with a husk. if we band together, things WILL happen.
besides, diggeh is still with us trying to save PMF. we have SOME admin power on our side. he could demote the other admins if need be.

and there is yet again, more of the same mentality that's pushing you to the brink. stop it. now. not kidding.

I've been wanting to advertise PMF for the longest time. I've been so focused on PMV and school that I haven't made banners or anything.

...I know.

I'll make a PMF Revival board in the Projects forum.

Shed and Ilex will probably destroy me, but hey. I love you guys. I'm on your side. >:3

diggeh, you can leave the advertising to me. just tell me what you want in your ad and i'll go out and take care of it.
:)
and i doubt that'll be needed- yet. you can take away the other admins' power in order to save this site, if you have to. there is a lot of history here, and it'd be a shame to lose it all.

(if you do do a new site, use ipbfree or zetaboards. FAR better interface. zetaboards is the most similar, go wit that.)

and y'know what? i'm sending this ENTIRE lecture to shed and ilex, if that's ok with you diggeh.

Well, a PMF Revival board would be just the thing for the forum. I'll think about it.

I doubt Shed will ever remove any admins, though. D:

Edit response: Sure, send it to your heart's content.

And when I meant new board, I meant a new place under the Projects category of PMF. Not a new forum. D:!

You know the saying: Don't change anything. Ever.
We're all for advertising. If you (or anybody) have banners or whatever that you want to make, by all means, do it.
