In 2007, a man named Guillermo Vargas decided to make a "work of art". First, he found a dog on the street. This dog was perfectly healthy. He got two young children to tie this dog to a chain. This chain was around three feet long. Then he got a rope and tied the chain to the rope. He brought the dog to an art gallery so everyone can display his "work of art". He named the dog "Natividad", which means "Birth". He left a bowl of dog buiscuts in front of him, just enough so he can't reach. He just left the dog there, day and night. Above the dog said a sign "Eres lo que lees" which means "You are what you read" in spanish. This sign was made out of dog buiscuts. The dog was just left there. People came around and took pictures of the dog, talked about the dog, etc. Families asked if they could feed the dog or let it go, but Vargas said no. A few days later, the dog died. Guillermo Vargas made up a few excuses. His first excuse was "The dog was sick, he wasn't going to live anyway". The second excuse was "I don't know if he'd live or not". His third excuse was "I wanted to demonstrate the wrongfullness of animal cruelity". However, people somehow believed his third excuse and he got an award in 2007 for best art display. Now, he wants to do it again in 2008. If you want him to stop, please sign this petition at this URL: http://www.petitiononline.com/ea6gk/petition.html Please debate how you feel about this cruel artist. Watch a youtube video on him here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-jIP8i1djg&feature=related |

that is just plain sick! if that was my dog, i'd go after him with a blunt axe. chain him up like that and slowly hack his fingers off while using chinese water torture and leave him bleeding in pain and without food to eat so he starves. </3 >:K |

That article has a bias: "Guillermo Vargas made up a few excuses." EDIT: Also, it says the dog was "perfectly healthy". If they could elaborate, please? I'm not saying anything about it until I get a damn unbiased article about this. |

does it really matter if it was healthy or not? it was alive, and if it wasn't healthy, then that makes it worse! whatever the guy said to excuse it, unless the whole thing's fabricated, he's still a sicko. |

How much of a difference would it make if the dog was healthy or not? Anyhow, he obviously was not trying to show the cruelty against animals, because if he thought that was cruel then we wouldn't have done it himself and would have shown it some other way. I'm not signing the petition, though. No, I don't want him encouraged to do more works like this, but It's too big of a deal over this one incident when there's so much other **** to care about. |

Thanks everyone. I'm glad you care about that dog and hate Guillermo Vargas. I'm taking a few steps towards him not being... Well... unable to do it again. ~I made an E-Mail adress, Defeatvargas@yahoo.com. Me and my friend share this E-Mail adress. If you have any questions about Guillermo Vargas, please ask. ~We are hanging up fliers all over the school and neighborhood, talking about what he did. We will put around a hundred lines where people can sign their names and post a comment. ~We are getting all our friends to pitch in! If you really want to help, put up fliers, inform people, anything! Your contributions and patronage are really helpful. |
