Tell me the truth this time, why don't you.

So. Fakedexes are elaborate things. Unless you want your region to be a random mishmash of unrelated lines and loose ends, there has to be some uniformity to your fakedex. Here, we'll address necessary elements. Let it be known also that just because this is here doesn't mean you need it, or that you can't twist it to fit your own needs. Starters Starters. More or less essential. Unless your region gives people starters from some other region or something, you're probably gonna need starters here. There are generally three starters, who form a triangle of effectiveness and specialize in different stats. By far the most commonly-used type (pretty much uniform in the games) is grass-water-fire. I've seen some user fakedexes that are psychic-fighting-dark. Also functional is rock-flying-fighting. There are actually plenty more triangles, but they aren't all perfect. I am the only person I know that has a ground-rock-ice trio, and it suits me very well, thank you very much. :P As an additional note, the official starters are always listed in grass-fire-water order. Annoying rodent-things Bidoof, anyone? These things have been a thorn in your side since you started out, and yet when you create your fakedex what do you do but create your own line of 'em? :P They are almost always normal-type (subtype optional, know that Water and Dark are very commonly-used subtypes that I've seen), and they are almost always rodents or resembling small, furry creatures in some way. Official examples: Ratatta Sentret Zigzagoon Bidoof Birds The bird line allows you to get creative. While in the official games, they are almost always normal/flying type, I've seen all sorts of variants: psychic/flying, dark/flying, grass/flying. These are also the reason why it is unwise to have a starter line that is a half-flying-type bird, since that would result in a duplicate. These can be either two- or three-staged. Official examples: Pidgey Spearow Hoothoot Taillow Starly ...The rest is your job! What other trends are there in Pokedexes? |

nope

My fakedex had secret starters, starters that were obtainable by doing an event in the early part of the game. In my fakedex's case, it was defeating your rival's starter in the first battle, which was a double battle. :3 Just an idea I cam up with that I had never seen before. |

Well, there's the psuedo-legend, three-stage evochain. Numberwise, they usually come right before the legends. Examples being: Kanto- Dratini-line, Johto- Larvitar-line, Kanto- Beldum-line, Sinnoh- Gible-line. Then there are the fossils- Not needed, but fun. Usually two two-stage evochains. And the low-level bugs. Caterpie and Weedle, Ledyba and Spinarak, Wurmple, Kriketot... Those ones. EDIT: And the rather weak water-types. Goldeen, Barboach, Wingull, Finneon. |

There's also the legendary trio (Birds, Dogs, Regis, Elves), the cute ultimate legend (Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Shaymin), and the set of x ultrapowerful legends (Mewtwo, Lugia/Ho-Oh, Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza, Dialga/Palkia/Giratina)... And more legends if you will. |

I think it's both. Don't forget bugs (Wurmple DX), specialties (Ditto), and birds (Pidgey). :3 |

Also a lot of fakedexes have some sort of Eevee evolution. And a split evolution. Yes. Those. |

Gimmick Pokemon. Pokemon like Ditto, Smeargle, and Kecleon. They're usually normal type, and have little worth. They're also called "novelty" Pokemon. |
