My system isn't fixed, its just suggested so that it makes it less stressful for both the student and teacher. Honestly, I think the teacher should have the choice on how he wants to teach his student.

You know the saying: Don't change anything. Ever.
In the old PMFA, there was just one sprite a week, maybe sometimes two. That seemed to be a decent workload. 5 sprites a week is (probably) too much.

Ya, I wasn't here the last time it was open, but I think one or two a week is too less. That almost seems like inactivity to me. Two should be the mininum, and three should be the expectancy.

I insist that the spriting be left for the students' individual judgement. Those who want have more of a want to get better make more, those who don't make less. I really don't like to have anything set.

Can we at least require that one needs to be done a week?

Because if we don't that's when everybody starts complaining about the school being inactive, because the students don't feel like spriting right now, or they're too busy to do one sprite a week.

You see, the mandatory work didn't work out because nobody did it past the first week or two. Sure, with a smaller work load the school may be able to last longer, but I think no mandatory work is the best option, or at least that single standardized assignment I mentioned (the one that you have to complete in order to get other ratings). If the students are required little, they can simply go to the teachers when they want ratings, as if it were 'extra help'.

Shed, you're looking at the constellations without the telescope. If it fails, we can make it your way. It can't hurt to have something die when experimentation is possible.

So the students sprite on their own terms, and just go to the teachers if they want extra help or criticism...

How are they going to improve if they aren't told what to do occasionally? They could probably post in the review section and get the same criticism, albeit maybe not a more thorough one. Shouldn't at least some requirements be made?

I think the original PMA was enough of an experimentation for that scheme. It didn't work when we did it that way, so why not try something different? We can then change if that doesn't work.

Look at my first few sprites. (Well, you can't because they're not out there anymore, but anyways.) Now look at my current ones. I never had any teachers, so I was only 'told what to do' in requests and battles. If you don't think I've improved, then I (or you) don't know what improvement is, lol. Practice makes perfect--good reviews help you get there more quickly. If they want to improve they'll practice a lot and get as many good reviews as they can; if they're not that eager they can be less intense at it.

3d, generally when you crit you say how they can fix the sprite. The teachers are still telling them what to do with the sprite by saying "you should change this outline to the lighter shade" or somehitng along those lines.

We saw what happened with the first PMA. It was great for about a week and a half, but then it died. The idea was good yeah, but it just simply didn't work and that's what we're trying to say.
