After 10 days of pwn, I am back from Italy

Here are the Highlights:

- Got to go to a mass done by the pope

- Visited the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and Colosseum

- Viewed the statue of David

-Went to a beach on the Adriatic sea

- Had a ride on a Gondola in Venice

- Saw the incorruptable body of St. Clare

- Kneeled up the steps that Jesus walked upto his crucifixion.

- Went on a tour through the Roman catacombs that holds more than 500,000 bodies.

Did the stairs hurt? There's only 28 steps to kneel up (You obviously aren't allowed to walk up the stairs), and it only hurt a bit. The steps were also covered in a wood covering as to not harm them. Through pieces of glass in the wood you could see blood stains on the steps from Jesus.

What happened at the mass? The Pope talked in italian, and there were lots of people.

Was the statue of David cool? Yes. You can even see the specks of dirt on his toes, that's how detailed it is.

WTF is Saint Clare? Saint Clare was a worshipper of Saint Frances. When she died, her body never decomposed due to her faith for God and is still in perfect condition after 800-900 years.
Also, being in the presence of her body gave me a wierd feeling. It was peaceful and I didn't want to leave.

And yes, walks on the beach are cool.

Nothing against it, but descriptions like those alwasys make me want less to go to Italy/Rome/Vatican. I always get the idea there's hardly anything interesting to do/see that isn't religious. D:

Anyways, it sounds liek you enjoyed it, so that's what counts. Welcome back =D

First of all, it';s the former capital of the roman empire, so that makes Rome cool.
Venice.
Italian food.
the other nonreligious stuff Ilex mentioned.
