This is a completely inaccurate view of Evolution, evolution occurs when a mutation that benefits the organism occurs thus allowing the mutant to function better than it's "normal" counterparts and be more likely to pass on it's genetics that include the mutation. That being said, humans have F***ed up this proses, we have made drugs and glasses and all sorts of other things to help people with defects (Bad eyesight, general frailty, mental retardation) to be able to pass on their "bad" DNA on to the next generation. Now as far as gills go, there are two issues, the first is that if a child were born with gills we would have them removed surgically (or MOST parents would, and ANY doctor would sagest it) The 2nd problem is the complexity of gills, it would take hundreds of generations to fully develop them and each generation is typically 25-35 years apart to that's around 3000 years for a mutation of gills assuming that none of those cosmetic surgeon get their hands on the "Mutants" Now, as far as religion goes I'm a Quaker or a member of the "Society of Friends" (two different names for the same thing) Quakerism is a branch of Christianity that focuses on non-violence or pacifism...
