Is there a rear lift for a 1282 / 680 ?

I was looking tonight for any info on adding a Cub 3 point hitch that would work on my 1282. I can't seem to find any info on what I need. Or maybe I did and didn't know it. Since mine has the "Armstrong lift" could you get a rear lift set-up for it? Will any wide frame manual lift work?

Still learning Cubs, just wanted to see if it's possible. I need to get it running first. (needs carb.)

Thanks, Mich60

Please concider this advise if this is a keeper of yours.

Find yourself a 782 parts tractor for a couple hundred bucks and transfer over the pump, lines, valve, dash, etc... and remove your lift handle. I've done it, it's easy. Depending on the parts tractor you find you'll have other extra parts all at a cost much less that buy even a couple of parts individually.

Now for the hitch, what rear end do you have? Makes a difference if it's a cast iron or aluminum. You can even go with a cat 0 set up if you want to spend the $450. If you're lucky and you work real hard at it you might find one with a hitch attached.

I've found some really good deals but it's hard work and they DO NOT fall into your lap. Plan on spending about 2 hours per night for about 6 months to find what you're looking for and if you're not up to it well then...

I forgot to mention or ask- are you a purist? If so then you may not want to do as I suggested and remove your lift handle etc...

Yes you have a couple of options on the hitch.

I'm only interested in yellow/white cubs and if I had the extra cash I'd do with this just as I described to you. This is a nice one.

Yep, I know what you mean by getting another tractor for the parts. I've done that a lot with my "other flavored" tractors. That's usually the best way for many extra parts.
But, this one I got at the best price so I can afford to toss a few bucks at it. My thought was to turn it but it has been growing on me. The tractor would be more useful to me if it had a rear lift and I was going to leave the manual lift on it until I got back to work.

It has the cast iron rear end with aluminum axle housings. Mich60

With the cast iron rear you should be able to use any traditional WF hitch, you'll need the lower bracket the upper casting and a lift bar, might run you about $140 and you'll find them on ebay. This is kinda my point, all those parts I just mention I got off a 1450 that I paid $200 for.

The only thing to overcome is that your frame doesn't have the bushing welded in for the upper casting which I believe the "82" series lifts have some sort of nutted bushing adaptor thing. You'll find what you need, it's out there.

Here is everything you need and more for $200.

Carb, lift, rear, pump, spool, engine parts, brake parts, pto, spare starter, seat deck, tunnel cover, drive shaft, front axle, spindles, steering collum and links,etc....

This is what I'm talking about and it's buy now of $200.

BTW look at the pics of the rear lift you'll see the bushing for the casting. They are only tacked on, you can remove them and tack onto your 1282.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
