New Acquisition; 108 for $25.00

Well, I could've sworn it was a 128 when I looked at it last summer but this weekend I went back to take a second look and it is a 108, complete, for $25. How was I going to say no. The engine was suspect so I also picked up a K301 with 8 hours run time on her for a song. A buddy of mine thinks the 10hp can be brought back to life.

The question is, if the K241 is dead and I swap in the K301, is it a sin to re-badge it a 128??? You guys won't tell on me will ya?

I'll get some pics in a few weeks, I left it down in Virginia at my buddy's and won't get back down for ahwile. All in all it was a good weekend.

I don't think the serial numbers were model/HP specific until the Quiet Lines. If the paint/decals are good I'd drop the K301 in and leave it a 108.

As long as the K241 doesn't have any "WINDOWS" in the crankcase it should be rebuildable. You can always sleeve the bore. If the crank is worn even at -.010" u/s I hear the Magnum cranks interchange and are actually stronger than the cast K-series cranks, and still available new.

Thanks ACecil. You should've seen all the other tractors this fella had lying around. Speedex, Panzer Pennsylvania, a 607 Horse, a bunch of Sears GT's, and other stuff so overgrown with weeds you couldn't see them. I was in heaven.

I imagine either Myron or Roland would have the kind code breakdown. I haven't been able to find it anywhere on this website...

Go to the technical part of the forum and look for the title, Kohler and Cub identification. Lot of info there. :thumbsup

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
