Bought a Sleeve Hitch today for my 1554GT! :High5

Now I find myself in need some ground engaging implements! In looking around on the net and here on the forums, it looks like Brinly-Hardy and Agri-fab are the biggest players in this particular market, at least when it comes to "new" implements. Is that true or should I look at some other manufactures.

I would like to have a plow, box blade and maybe a disk before it thaws out here in Michigan! Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks!

Scotty

Welcome to Cub Cadets Anonymous! LOL Brinly-Hardy and Agri-fab are the two big sleeve hitch makers...good stuff. Any sleeve hitch attachment will work...so check your local Craigslist and keep an eye on eBay!

Any difference it the quality of the products from these 2 manufactures? Service after the sale? Brinly seems to be more towards the Big Box stores which raises my suspicions about Quality / Service.

The only attachment I currently have is a Brinly plow...no issues. Maybe someone else will chime in...

The Big Brown Truck is on its way with my Sleeve Hitch! :ButtRock Should be here on Monday or Tuesday. Decent deal I think, 90 bucks off of Epay.

I think I'll pop into Home Depot and see if they have the Brinly Plow in stock. I'd like to have one in case I can make it down to the Michigan Plow Days in Climax this April. Not sure if my trailer will make it that far though, it's a real piece of work. :Cry1

While you're in home depot, could you look for the sleeve hitch adapter? I need the hitch itself and I would like to know if it is worth the trip (2.5 hours) to my nearest home depot. thanks if you do! :Thanks :Cub4

I have an extra Brinly plow or 2 (have 5 3/4 plows) that you can use at the Michigan Plow Days in Climax this April. You can use the extra plow or take a few rounds with two of my Cubs if you are game.....the third one needs an experence driver to run it....

Brinly has been around the longest. There quality is good. I ordered parts from Brinly in the past and had no problems. Selling in the big box stores is a good way to sell their product(s).

Thank you all for the responses. I got my Sleeve Hitch yesterday but I did not have time to open the box and check it out. I will have to do that tonight when I get home from work. Maybe I'll get it on the tractor and take some pictures!

I may have to take someone up on the offer to borrow a plow. I had a VERY frustrating day yesterday at Home Depot and Harbor Freight. Is there a RANT AND RAVE section of the forums I can put that in? :Bash

Needless to say Tyler, they did not have anything there. I did find a couple on clearance at TSC but I'm not sure if it will fit your tractor or what it would cost to ship it to you from MI. I "think" the number was OEM 108-760. Ring a bell anyone?

Hammerhead - if you could send me a PM on what you'd like to see for that Box Blade I would appreciate it.

Well, back to work.. :irritated

Got the Sleeve Hitch Assembly put on the CC and it sure looks good! :Woo

I wasn't 100% satisfied with the quality of some of the hardware, but it looks to be a sturdy unit. We shall see pretty soon! Just need to get something to hook to it besides a wagon! :D

Hey Scotty777!!!! How's it going good buddy!!!!

I can pretty much guess what you experienced going to Home Depot and Harbor Freight hoping to find an implement for your tractor. Cause I did the same thing myself. You might want to check out Carter and Gruenewald. That's where I purchased my 38 inch Brinly Box Blade and had it shipped to me through UPS and it arrived in excellent shape. I've been dealing with Carter and Gruenewald for 4 or 5 years now and I have never had any problems with them. So you might want to check them out. By the way, they also carry the Brinly 10 inch Mold Board Plow along with other Brinly implements. This is just a suggestion. I hope this helps??? Take care Scotty777!!!! :thumbsup

Here are some pics and a video of us using the Brinly Box Blade that I purchased.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
