POWERSTROKE

Dad bought a CCO & 38" timed deck new in 1963 that I ran the first summer mowing the barnyard and from then on mowing the whole yard. In '65 it got traded for the CC 70 out in the shop waiting for restoration.

These tough little tractors hold up so well why would ANYONE need to buy another? Dad still used the 70 to mow his whole yard/barnyard several times a year up until 4 yrs ago when He gave it to Me. He was going to sell it but it was the second of the Four tractors in My collection of a picture I took about June 1st 1968. Picture was taken after all the spring fieldwork was done, corn was planted, frt mounted cultivator was sitting out waiting to be mounted but ALL the tractors had been washed & waxed, duals still on the M & 450 FARMALL's and the Super H was hooked to the corn planter, 70 CC sitting along side.
The 70, Super H, and the '51 M are all in the shop now....but I'm not really looking for the 450.....I'd rather have the '54 Super M-TA that got traded in on the 450 but have NO idea of a serial number or where to begin looking.

No, I was too young. However, my father still has the CCO that my grandfather bought new!! Has a non-trip blade and mower deck (with a spare deck for parts) with it. Jason

That must have been something! Of course, at the time you probably didn't realize it...right?

Yes it was something!! I had saved for it and paid cash. The dealer just about crapped getting cash from a 22 yr. old kid. The heck of it is I know where it is but the lady will not sell it to me said her husband loved that tractor up to day he passed away.

But there is always hope.

Pops,

Looks like you win. I was just out of high school when IH gave it up to CCC in 1981. If I had only known then what the world was coming to. My dad bought a Sears Suburban in 1966, it was too much for me to handle early on, (pull start) but in later years I remember not being able to stop it and running it through the neighbor's fence, stopping just short of the pond Then it was an Ariens and a lot of repair bills but I made a lot of money with it. Never knew what a Cub was until I went to my first tractor pull in 1999. That hooked me right there.

GERKS 149

I was 4 or 5 when my Dad bought the 149 that I own today. It was a work horse for cutting the common ground in the subdivision from about '74-the early 80's. Then was sold when my Dad got out of being a Trustee to someone in the neighborhood.
Last year I bought it back from him to restore! It came back home in a way.
Hope this counts.

That's pretty awesome Gerks! To have family history with the tractor makes it even more special. :thumbsup

My Dad bought the 109 new. He bought it in '75, tho it's a '74 model. About two years ago he gave it to me. The engine was rebuilt, I dunno, maybe 10 years ago. But didn't see much use from then until I got it.

It is all original condition. I have gradually been refreshing things. Still have lots to do.

Dad passed last June. He loved that tractor, and now so do I. And if I have my way, it will never leave the family.

My Original was purchase new by my neighbor's late father. Does that count?

My neighbor, now in her sixties, said she mowed grass on it for years when she was a teenager.

After my neighbor gave me this tractor, I had lots of fun rebuilding it as a tribute to honor the "gift".

My neighbor hops on it and takes it for a ride every now and then to rekindle fond memories of her past.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
