Thought I'd share some pictures with you all. I got a 70 for free about a month ago and am in the process of restoring it.Figured Id bring you all along for the ride!!!!

I mounted the motor to my table today in the future I plan on running it here and setting the timing etc. The table is 3/4 plate steel and a great base for the motor.

This is a picture of the pto. It doesn't look as its seen a day of use since 65!! The pulley has no wear on it and the wear button doesn't either. Granted the whole kit and caboodle could of been replaced but it doesn't look like it. The engage lever was stuck leaning on the grill and there was no engage rod, although there had to be one at one point because the side, not the hole of the engage handle has wear. (I'm looking for a rod by the way!!) Who knows just thought it interesting.

this is the rear end after the first cleaning.I dont belive its seen many oil changes unless they were done through the rear cover.the base/bottom was full of crud and caked on gunk.

I am using Windows XP. There is a photo resizer in Microft Power toys for windows XP.

All my pictures are 640 X 480 or under 100KB before they go to Photo Bucket.

Photo Bucket is a good place to store pictures. I have at least 200 pictures on Photo Bucket. They do ask for a donation. They do have a photo resizer on their system. I haven't used it. Follow the rest of the instructions and you should be able post pictures in my example.

Merk: I, and others perhaps, have no intention of going to a 3d party picture posting site to post a photo on another site (only OCC in my case). I don't want the problem on my computer if they get a worm or virus!! The photo problem is the Zeta board host of OCC. They need fixing. I bet they would fix it before losing a forum.

Absoluty no problem!!!I actually really appreciate the help!!
I have your family owned 70 thread saved its a great one and actually very helpful.How did or will you get the brake "pucks out" to replace them??mine are really stuck and im a bit heavy handed :Bash (thats cost me!!) the manual says remove them and when inserting the new ones dab a bit of grease in the retainers.Ive picked at them with a screwdriver but havent beat them!!!

I didn't replace the ones in my 70. I did replace them in my 100. I used a hammer and a punch to break them in a few pieces. Make sure you are wearing safety glasses.

Here is a small hole I descoverd after removeing sludge and water.It opens up to the hole where the bolt goes through to mount the.................Section on front....Forgot what its called LOL.
I guess thats why you mention the copper washers huh Merk. I dont belive its a rust hole as some muck was covering it and it didnt have the rust stains.Perhaps a shallow spot in the casting.Although when I removed that bolt a bit of water came out?????

Reduction housing!!!!!Remembered,Actualy didnt had to look it up LOL

One of the best tools you can get for your Cub is a shop manual. It will show you an easy way to disassemble and reassemble your Cub. Some of the fasteners have a specific torque value they need to be tighten to(bolts with copper washers in 67 Hydros' Cub).

Ill agree 100% on the manuals.During my tear down on the #1 123 I broke more stuff than I care to mention.I have since printed up the manuals.I have the manuals for the 70 BUT they are on this computer.I have read and read but still broke the brake lever while dissambeling.Its VERY important to have it by your side!I didnt remove the adjusting nut and bolt ,wich the manual clearly states to do.I used a regular framing hammer and a punch and broke the lever.What a bummer!!

All of you that have painted your cubs what Brand of primer and paint have you got a better than new paint job out of?

Now remember, I'm a newby. But, I'm using valspar primer with rust inhibiter. And, I have
painted some yellow in valspar so far so good.I have alot of rust and even after sandblasting
I still have some pits i need to fill. My Dad, 81 years young and rebuilding a 1941 Buick says to use Rage. And he uses a primer sealer all in one that you poor in the gun and shoot no mixing.
