How's it going guys!!!!

Well guys, here are the first pics of the engine rebuild. So far my Dad and I have removed the engine off the OL' Girl and we've also removed all of the outer parts off the engine. For example the starter/generator,carburetor and stuff like that. I'll be posting more pics of the engine tonight. Well, I'm heading out to the shop hopefully we'll have the entire engine disassembled here in a few hours. I'll be taking pics as we go along. Take Care Guys!!!!! :thumbsup

This is first time that this engine has ever been removed from this tractor since it was built.

Cub61,
Good luck on the rebuild, and don't forget to pressure wash that engine bay down before slipping the motor back in!

There's nothing more disturbing to me than a dirty engine compartment, lol...

Hey IAfarmer!!!! How's it going good buddy!!!!
Thank you very much for the compliments about the big rear tires. I really do appreciate it. Here's a little insider info for you. At the time that I decided to go with the "BIG" tires on the rear really didn't seem like a good idea. I thought maybe it would look a little goofy by putting way over sized tires on the rear. But I figured what the heck, let's give it shot and see what happens. Well I'm glad I took that chance.lol The big rear tires seem to be a real eye catcher every where I go with the OL' Girl. And don't worry good buddy, we'll have OL' Girl running real soon. Take Care and have yourself a great day. :thumbsup

Hey Ray!!!! How's it going good buddy!!!!
First of all thank you very much for your support. I really do appreciate it. And don't worry, we'll have that engine bay spotless before the engine goes back in. Take Care Good Buddy and have yourself a great day. :thumbsup

Good morning guys!!!

Well guys, we did it. My Dad and I disassembled the engine last night and had a great time doing it too.lol After we disassembled the engine we started to inspect the parts for any major wear. We were surprised on what we found. From what we can tell, it seems like the crankshaft was rubbing the underside of the piston. There's very small little pieces of piston material missing. And the crankshaft has rub marks. You'll see that in the pics down towards the bottom of this post. I've added red arrows pointing to the areas. We were also surprise by how clean the oil pan was. We were expecting find some metal shavings or maybe a small piece of a ring. But there was nothing like that. Just clean burnt oil. So now it's time to send the block off to the machine shop and start purchasing new parts. I'll keep you guys updated as we go along with the rebuild. Take Care Everyone and have yourselves a great day.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

Well guys, here's an update on the engine rebuild. The 7hp engine block along with the Crankshaft,Valves, piston and rod along with the head, will be sent out to South Carolina to Vince (A.K.A. Skip) and his crew. There the guys will see what went wrong with the engine and decide what needs to be done to get this engine working again. I'll keep you guys updated as we go along. Take care everyone and have yourselves a great day. :thumbsup

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
