I tried the tiller out and had a blast! My wife wanted to start small (10'x20'), but I was having so much fun that I wanted to do the whole back yard! Took a little getting used to and I had to make quite a few passes since it was all sod and pretty rocky. When we were done, my 3 year old and I "harvested some rocks." Jason |

Thank you both. I know the ground was still pretty wet yet, but I just couldn't help myself. Gonna dump ashes from my wood stove into the plot, as well as, some horse manure and till it up again when it dries out a bit. Just need an excuse for some more seat time. Then I'll have to get the mower on it. Any of you farmer types be able to tell me if it's at all feasible to grow corn in such a small plot with other veggies? Thanks, Jason |

Growing sweetcorn in a small plot like you have is possable. What I would do is plant 2 seeds per hill and space the hills 4 to 5 inches apart. The row width should be no smaller than 12 inches between rows. The only problem with growing sweetcorn I have had it keeping the deer and racoons out of the corn patch. Last year the deer ate my sweetcorn patch down to the ground after the corn was aproxamently knee high. |

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to give the corn a shot. Jason |

Here's a few pictures of my tractor and tiller (please overlook, if you can, the lack of all shields...that's how I bought it). Not real pretty, but gets the job done. My tines are pretty worn...maybe I'll replace them before next year. I was in too much of a hurry to try it out this year. Jason
