When I lived in Las Vegas it was very important to bag my clippings otherwise I would have dead looking grass. However, down here in the jungles of the Mid South I mostly just side discharge and let the clippings lie where they land. When I first got here I felt that mulching was important but frankly I don't see any difference between side discharge and mulching for my lawn.

Any other opinions?

I always discharge, I thinks it's better for your lawn. Grass is about 70% water so in the dry season I don't have to water as much,.

I do all the all of them. It depends on the time of the year and if the grass gets too tall before I can mow it. I will use my grass/leave collection system in the fall to pick up some of the leaves. They will go in the garden and them plowed under. When garden is covered I will multch leaves only.

Multching grass doesn't work very well unless you mow every other day. There is too much moisture in the grass clippings.

I try to mow every 3 to 4 days.

With my push mower, we mulched only, but now with our new Cub Cadet, it is side discharge as of right now. I may look into a mulch kit or bag it. But if we can cut it as often as it needs, I may stick with side discharge.

I forgot to post this about my off brand tractor with mower deck that have rear discharge.

I was surprise that rear discharge can mow tall grass best than side discharge.

I don't like side discharge when mow grass but what happen when all side discharge blow grass to middle then we couldn't mow so we must remove ton of mulch grass dump fire. That why must do opposite mow.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
