I have a 78 super beetle with stock engine with the fuel injection. Lately I have noticed a brief stutter in the engine at highway speeds. It does not make any difference if I am going up a hill, down or just on flat road. May happen once or twice an hour or not at all. The points, condenser and plugs were changed a couple of hundred miles ago. The fuel filter is new. The car starts easy and idles fine. Replaced the double relay last summer. Any ideas??? Mike |

Pulled everything off from the throttle body, check all the rubber parts for leaks or cracks and did not find anything there. The only thing I found was the thermal time switch which gives signal to the cold start valve was loose. I really do not think that was it but I cleaned up the threads and connector and re-installed it. I will take the car out for a ride this weekend to see if anything changes. - Mike |

Well I guess cleaning up the threads on the thermal time switch and making sure it was tight and making a good ground fixed the problem. We have drove the wheels off the bug the last couple of weeks and it has not had the stutter problem. I like cheap fixes........ |
