Hey Guys- I lost brakes today on my 66 bug, but I was close to home, so I'm still alive... the brake fluid resevoir was empty so I started looking for leaks. I didn't have to look far. The master cylinder is all wet. The brake lines are tight and dry. The culpirt seems to be where the res. line goes in. The Bentley manual shows a fitting inside of a rubber grommet. On mine, all I have is a metal line going straight down into the grommet. With my fingers I can wiggle the line. So, my question is: Can I replace just the grommet? Is the setup that I have a non-original jerry-rig? Basically, I don't want to remove the Master Cylinder if I don't have to... It's getting cold outside and I don't have a garage! Thanks, Dan |

Bethany Imports or Kerr has the little rubber piece... just squeeze it in and stab your line back in the middle and your good to go.... You may still need a new mc but that is how it is done (ps dont pull the bolts out of the mc all the way or the spacer sleaves will fall between the double firewall that stay on the bolts) have fun...
