After a long but pleasant walk, Neva not bothering to wear any shoes and so the tattoos on her feet were clearly visible, they arrive at the beach. It as gloriously deserted, Neva not really wishing to have to put up with other people's noises as they relaxed. When they reach the sand, Neva removes her nose stud, the item quickly transfiguring itself back into a wand. She uses said wand to create an invisible play pen for Kyra so she wouldn't crawl off, and places her within its boundaries along with a few toys. She transfigures the wand back into a stud before replacing it in the hole in her nose. "I'm going for a swim. Be back in a while" Neva beams, clearly exhilerated by the prospect. She walks off into the crystal blue waves, dissappearing under their depths as they get deep enough. |

Greg hadn't really enjoyed the long walk, he used to enjoy long walks, whenever Neva could pull him into one of course. His leg had been aching all the way there and it was bugging him to no end, he just hoped that the beach was worth the pain. When they reached it, Greg had to admit that it was a beautiful sight, though one that he couldn't enjoy to it's fullest. He was stuck in pants rather than shorts and despite being boiling hot he was too scared to pull up the legs, cooling him yet at the same time revealing the horrifying array of scars and damaged skin. As Neva headed off to the water he pulled his wand out of his pants pocket, with a flick producing himself a comfortable beach lounger and a parasol. He settled himself down, the shade of the parasol making him feel a lot better as he watched Neva swim in the cool waters. |

Neva could have swam for eternity, the depths of the crystaline water sending her heart into a soft reverie. She had never confessed to anyone before how jealous she felt of Mermaids and their freedom to explore the water to their heart's content. She supposed it was a little strange, but then again weren't all dreams? She twirls gently in the water, the cool liquid making her heart feel a little warmer than it had done before they had left Mungos and London. Reluctantly, needing to check on Kyra, anyway, she swims until she is able to stand, walking her way out of the water and shaking her hair gently to rid it of excess water. She saunters slowly along the beach until she reaches Greg, removing her nose stud and conjuring a towel to sit on before replacing the stud. She smiles down at the clearly occupied Kyra and sits down, laying down as she closes her eyes. |

Greg watched Neva as she emerged from the sea, walking over to where he lay and producing her own towell. "I bet the sea is nice." He stated, the words coming out with a hint of jealously behind them. He would have loved to be out in the sea with her, but alas. After saying it, Greg felt that he couldn't have picked out more stupid words if he'd tried. |

Neva frowns a little as Greg speaks, noting the jealousy in his voice. She bites her lip softly, not knowing what she could say to him in responce. She could either tell him it was, and make him even more jealous. Or lie and say it was awful, leaving him to wonder why she had spent so long there anyway. She sighs, that note of hurt in his voice, bringing her own back in waves. But she breathes back any thoughts she may have of what happened. Only now existed to her at the moment. "Mmmm" she replies to him a little late and lamely. |

Greg could tell that he had said something undeniably stupid and insensitive, why should he let his annoyance at his damn leg get in the way of Neva having fun. Yet there was still the little niggle that told him HE should be having fun with her, instead of sitting in the backlines and watching her. "Sorry." He muttered quietly, "I'm sure it's nice out there." |

Neva bites her lip again, almost drawing blood this time. She knew Greg had sensed that he had hurt her, even just a little. She only wished she could do something to help him realise he was as wonderful as ever. "Why don't you join me in the water?" she asks, knowing that his small disability was only a hindrance if he allowed it to be. |

Greg was quite taken back by her offer. "I... I don't know." He stuttered. He didn't know if he would be able, though he hadn't thought that he would walk for ages until Neva encouraged him, maybe it would work this time. "Okay." He said quietly, unable to hide the hint of excitment in his voice, the crystal clear water had never seemed closer. |

Neva smiles, chancing a glance at Kyra before standing up. She casts a few spells around her play pen to keep her safe before holding her hands out for Greg and gently guiding him to his feet. She places an arm around his waist as she leads him to the water, the liquid running over thier toes as they walk into the waves, Neva careful to not rush Greg. |

Greg gave a small laugh as the water ran through his toes, it felt as though he was experiencing the water for the first ever time. He began getting slightly nervous however as the sea began working it's way up to his injury. "Maybe I should go back." He said nervously, looking back towards the beach in an almost pleading way. |

Neva places a gentle hand on Greg's as he asks if he ought to go back. "It's okay. You're doing fine" she beams, hoping she was reaching him. She didn't want to feel that he was holding himself back just because of an injury. He needed to realise that he was still strong and capable of doing anything he set his mind to. |

Greg took a deep breath and nodded, if Neva said he could... then maybe he could. He took another shaky step forward, his injury beginning to submerge into the water. He shivered slightly, but to his suprise he managed to keep on going, the water rising further up his body. |

Neva can't help but beam as Greg listens to her, sensing that he was getting better within himself already. "That's it. You're doing great" she assuages, leading him further into the water until they had to kick their arms and legs to stay afloat. She made sure to keep a hand on Greg's arm though, making sure that he stayed confident enough to keep afloat. |

Greg became scared as the water became so deep that he had to kick out. The first couple of strokes were edgy, he was sure that any second his leg was going to give way and cause to him fall to his watery death. He knew that Neva wouldn't let him drown, but there was still the fear. It ached slightly as he legs worked to keep him afloat but they didn't stop, a smile spreading across his face as he swam in the ocean beside Neva. |

Neva could tell that Greg was a little frightened, the water and jis injury taking away some of his control. But she knew that she wouldn't let anything happen to him. She was a pretty accomplished swimmer, so who better to have swimming beside him? She smiles, doing a few underwater backflips before breaching the surface of the water again, closing her eyes for a moment as they face the warm sun. |

Greg smiled as Neva dipped down and began to preform underwater backflips. Even if he HAD been well, he had never been agile enough to preform such stunts and would just end up stopping halfway through the flip, struggling to pull himself upright and out of the water. He didn't mind too much that all he had been able to do was swim lengths. Now he was swimming around in aimless circles he was starting to build his confidence quickly, the only pain that he got was if he exerted his leg too much, the water didn't put any pressure on it. The cool crystal water was soothing to him as he slowly brought himself onto his back and floated gently atop the water, squinting at the bright sunlight thrust into his face. |

Neva smiles to herself, noting how Greg's confidence was returning to him as he swam. So she had done a good thing coaxing him into the water, no matter how much he protested. As he lays on the water, she fights the urge to throw herself at him in a playful manner, knowing that if he were to get his confidence back fully, he wouldn't want to be knocked under the water. Instead she simple bobs on the water, closing her eyes as the sun beats down upon her alabaster face. |

After a while of staring up into the sky, he pulled himself upright, almost slipping under the water for a second before bobbing back up to the surface. It was so lovely and peaceful out here, he couldn't imagine being stuck on the beach like he had been before. "Thank you Neva." He said softly, "I'd hate to be stuck out on the beach and I still would be." He would have reached over to hug her, but the fear that without the aide of his arms keeping him afloat, he would sink and not have the leg strength to get back up again. |

Neva smiles obligingly to Greg as he thanks her, not entirely sure what he was thanking her for. It wasn't as though she had done anything wonderul. All she had done was try and make him see that his new disability neednlt be a hinderence to him. "No need to thank me" she smiles, bobbing under for a moment to have a look what had brushed past her foot. Luckily it was only a small clown fish. It was quite cute actually. She breaks the surface of the water again quickly, brushing her hair out of her eyes as she looks back to the shore to check on Kyra, who was busy playing with the sand. |

Greg opened his mouth to say something but he felt his leg falter under the water. His balance was thrown off and he slid under the water. In the blue depths he began to panic, his arms and legs flailing as he tried to find his way up to the surface. Yet his stroke wasn't as strong as it could have been due to his leg and he couldn't bring himself upwards. He began to feel slightly dizzy as he inhaled water, his mind becoming set on the idea that Neva had forgot about him. That she would simply swim away and leave him down in the depths to drown. She was going to let him drown. He knew it. |

Neva's heart stops beating as she breaks the surface of the water to find Greg not there. She looks about her for a few moments frantically before bobbing under. Her eyes widen as she sees Greg frantically trying to swim. She swims down, taking hold of Greg under his arms as he struggles to reach the surface again. she pulls him up to the surface, holding his head above the water as she swims towards the shore again. When she reaches the sand, she drags him along with her, laying him down as he tries to get his breath back. |

Greg lay on the beach, coughing up lungfulls of sea water. After a few minutes of coughing he dropped back down onto the sand, laying flat and staring up at the sky. He had been sure that she had left him to die, but he had been wrong to even think that. He knew Neva wouldn't leave him like that, she cared for him more than he let himself think. His breathing was heavy as he let himself lie on the sand, nice, hard sand. He wasn't going to drown on SAND anytime soon. "I should have stayed here." He mumbled quietly, not knowing if he wanted Neva to hear him or not. It wasn't her fault that he had almost drowned though a little niggling voice told him that SHE was the one who had brought him out into the water, she had kept him going when his instincts told him to go back. Yet he couldn't blame her. It was his leg. His stupid, useless leg. |

Neva sighs, hearing what Greg had just mumbled even if he may not have meant her to. "Don't be silly" she soothes, taking Kyra out of her invisible play pen and cuddling her to her. "If you don't try to get back into the swing of things again you'll be miserable" she explains, hoping she would be getting through to him. She didn't even need to acknowledge his leg. It didn't matter to her at all. He was a wonderful, loving person. That was all that mattered. |

Greg sat himself upright, looking down at his legs almost scornfully. "What if I can't get the swing of things again?" He asked sourly. "I can't even swim and I can barely walk. How am I supposed to do anything!" There was a note of sadness in his voice as he spoke, he looked away from Neva, hiding the tears that were gathering in his eyes. It wasn't the almost drowning that had got to him, it was what had caused it. |
