Ooh! It's Raining! WAIT! That's Not Rain!

Neva listens avidly as Greg explains to her what was happening with the baby. She opens her eyes a fraction as he says the words she was so desperate not to hear. Her eyes well with tears the fall down her face silently as she stares at him. "But.....I....what?" She struggles to comprehend what she is being told. "But he can't be dead. It's not right. Please stop lying. Please tell me you're joking" she begs, her heart falling to her feet.

Kat lowers her head as Neva tries to deny what Greg is telling her. She then gently takes her friend's hand and squezzes it within her own. "I'm...sorry hun," she replied as soft tears welled up again.

Greg really wished he could say he was joking, he wanted to spring up out of the bed and claim it was all a prank, but he couldn't. He couldn't even admit it again, instead he averted his eyes from Neva and her question. Instead he let his eyes focus on the scars Kat wore, he bit his lip slightly. "I don't know." He said quietly, wanting nothing more than to curl up under the sheets and cry his problems away, but thanks to his shredded up leg he wasn't even given that liberty, unable to move it from it's stock straight position. Greg didn't know anything any more, he had thought that everything in the world was right, he and Neva were married, going to have a child. Then it was snatched away from them in the most cruellest away imaginable. It just didn't seem possible, ergo reality was wrong, everything seemed wrong around him.

Neva just stares blankly at Kat as she takes her hand, npt allowing herself to believe it. "But...But Greg wanted a son. Why would....I don't understand" she sobs, unable to comprehend what she was being told.

As Neva starts to sob as she struggles to understand what had happened, Kat didn't know what to say. Slowly getting up she decides to do what her friend always had done when she herself had been attacked. Taking a seat on the edge of the head of the bed, she gently takes Neva in her arms, letting her cry as she's held. "Shuu my friend.....I ..don't understand it either."

Neva can barely breathe as she is pulled into Kat's arms, her entire energy reserve seemingly only just preventing her from splitting ub twi with grie. Her body felt worn and limp as it lay on her best friend. as though she was some sort of discarded toy that had long since lost its amusing attributes. "I just want my baby back...What did I ever do to hurt people so badly that they have to do this?" she asks nobody in particular.

"Nothing," Kat replied softly not knowing what else to say as Neva leaned on her. There were no words to espress....She gently rubbed her friend's back to sooth her for lack of anything else to do to try and comfort her friend.

Liar...you didn't have Wilson join in :P

Neva sighs to herself in an awkward way, having no words left to break through her choked vocal chords. She simply resigns herself to the silence, the sound of her own sobbing dying down until she grows silent, staring blankly at the wall as though that would melt away and reveal all to her.

Wilson had been watching the scene from a distance, unsure of where to step in to help Kat out. She knew that she would need to regain their trust before he stepped in to work the same task. But he sighs, deciding to step in before that. He pulls up a chair near Greg's bed, sitting himself down and looking concernedly onto his friend. "If you're in pain there are plenty of pain potions dotted around the place" he suggests, not helping his healery err.

Greg watched Wilson with nervous eyes, unable to get the sobbing of Neva out of his mind. He couldn't understand why Wilson was offering him pain potions when he was going to kill him anyway? "But... you... kill..." He couldn't seem to get a sentence together but he nodded ever so slightly. "Potion..." He mumbled, if he was offering pain killers he might as well take them.

Wilson nods, happy that Greg was taking him up on his offer even though he could see the shadows of doubt lurking within. He reaches under the bed and pulls out a pale blue, milky substance in a small vial. He hands it to Greg, hoping that he would take it withouta fuss. "That should work pretty much immediately. I would give one to Neva too to try and assuage her but I think she's beyond the help of a simple potion" he sighs.

As Neva leans in her arms, her tears quieting down as she just stares at the wall, Kat looks up and watches distractedly as Wilson tries to deal with Greg's skepticism. She breathe's a small sigh of relief when her colleague gives into the trust buried inside and allows his best friend to help with a potion.

Neva barely notices as her eyes begin to scream in protest at her staring, the only lingering voice in her head being that of Greg. "You lost the baby" It seems to chant over and over again, somehow implanting the idea that it was her fault her baby was dead. If she had just done something more. "You lost it....noy anybody else...YOU DID!" She tells herself, making herself believe her own twisted thoughts. They chant on and on until she slips into a fraught sleep filled with haunting images of laughing faces, and Greg telling her over and over again that it was her fault.

As she watches her friend slip into a restless sleep, Kat bites her lip knowing it would be rough. Having gone back to sitting on the stool, she slowly transfigures into her cat form. Perching on the stool to steady her self, she turned, giving a quick glance back to Greg and Wilson before turning back and gently jumping onto Neva's bed, curling up at the foot as if standing guard over her.

Wilson watches Neva with a concerned eye as she slips back off into a fretful sleep, one that he was sure was filled with heartbreak. He sighs, turning on his heels and walking over to a cabinet that carried certain potions. He removes a vial of Dreamless Sleep Potion and returns to the side of her bed, giving the newly morphed Kat a weak smile. Taking hold of the back of Neva's throat, he pours the potion down her throat, rubbing it to ease her larynx into swallowing. When she has done he lays her back to rest as she lays, now still. He throws the vial into a medical waste bin before turning back to Greg.

Watching with raised head as she watched Wilson walk around the bed and acquire the particular potion. Kat the cat lets out a quiet meow, berrating herself silently as to why she hadn't thought of that. She then settled down, her head on her paws

Greg eyed the potion up for a moment before achingly moving his arm and tipping the potion down his neck, handing the empty vial as he did so. He could feel the potion work through his body, flowing like molten silver cast on a moonlight summer night. Looking over to Neva he spotted she was asleep so he moved his eyes upwards, unsure of what to do with himself. He was racked with so many emotions, fear, sorrow, guilt, but then there was the spot of hapiness thay he was still alive. Even if just for now. They worked against each other, battling till the only feeling left was... nothing, his mind giving up on what he felt and trying to distract its self with what it could see. Though admittedly, the view from his bed was rather bleak.

After she has been asleep awhile, her mind being unable to sustain the illusion, Neva cracks open an eye to find that Wilson has left, the Cat by her feet having drifted off into uneasy sleep. She had to admit that she felt sick just watching her seem so peaceful. She looks over to Greg, hoping he wasn't feeling as nauseatingly detrytus and empty as she was right now. The covers on her bed seemed to burn into her skin, making her feel nought but an agany she only just manages to supress as she peels them back and climbs slowly out of the bed. She didn't want to walk, that would give her too much time to think. Instead she hobbles over to where Greg lay and slips into the bed beside him, wrapping his arms around her as she buries her face in his chest, him being the only person she really, truelly felt she could trust anymore.

Greg tensed up slightly as Neva entered his bed, still nervous around... anyone. But he let himself relax and his arms moved into a more comfortable position around her, pulling Neva closer as though if he let go he would wall appart. He couldn't move himself much because of his leg but Neva seemed to have known that all he wanted to do was be close to her, smell her soft sweet scent and know that maybe the entire world wasn't evil. He wanted to prove that to her too as Greg knew the same thoughts of loss and unfairness would be running through her head, possibly more so than his. "Don't leave me." He whispered quietly, not wanting the death eaters to hear.

As she lay there clinging to Greg for dear life, it takes Neva all she has to not simply burst into another fit of tears. She was afraid that of she did allow herself to become vulnerable again, she would never get her strength back. She just wanted to know that in the overbearing darkness that seemed to engulf her like a large claok, she would have one constant, one candle to lead the way into brighter times. She closes her eyes, letting Greg's plea wash over her, not aware that she was holding her breath as the oxygen burst into her lungs. She bites her lip softly, small salty tears dripping down her cheeks slowly as she rubs his stomach absently with her thumb. "I promise" she replies in a choked voice, hoping that he would do the same for her.

Greg had been holding his breath whilst waiting for her reply, almost expecting her to say that now they did not have a child together she had no reason to stay with him and now she was going to pop off and go find somebody else who would protect her instead of being weak and not able to save her. But he was greatly releived as she told him she would never leave. He clung to her less, as though their words were holding them together with the same force his arms were. "I won't ever let you go" He replied quietly, knowing that now she said she never wanted to leave him, he would make sure of that.

Neva could feel Greg's grib on her slacken a little, but she pays it to need. She knew that he wouldn't dismiss her and move along to somebody who hadn't been so weak and allowed all this to happen. She still blamed herself wholly and completely for their baby's death, the urge to hurt Eliza only shadowed by the tremendous loss she felt. "Good" she replies simply, hoping he would stand by his words. But she didn't blame him in the slightest of he wouldn't. "I'm sorry" she adds in a small voice, feeling as though she could cry until her tears evaporated into large pools of salt.

At Neva's words; Greg's heart tore in two. Tears filled up his eyes as hers did. "It's not your fault..." He said, choked up. He couldn't understand how she could blame herself, she hadn't gone out looking for a fight with those psychopaths, she hadn't intentionally done anything to push them into such hideous and violent methods. "It's not your fault." he said again, as if to reitterate his point. He would NEVER blame her for the death of the child, it was Eliza's fault not her's and much more his own than Neva's too.

No matter how much Greg told her otherwise, she couldn't allow herself to believe that she held no fault. She shouldn't have gotten involved with Eliza in the first place. If she had never confiscated the girl's wand so long ago at Hogwarts, they would have no doubt never crossed paths. She would have been blissfully ignorant of the woman's existence, thus have given her no incentive to hurt her and her family. She didn't think she could have avoided Luna, the girl being in the same house as her, and the captain of her Quidditch team. She still remembered the girl hanging over her bed, questioning her after Julian had left her the first time, her laying oblivious to the world. If she would have just answered. At this moment in time, she could pick everything that happened in her life and twist it to somehow make it a catalyst of what had happened. She was above all rationality at this moment in time.

Greg could almost see the cogs whirring in her mind and he just wanted to throw something in there to stop them. "There was nothing you could have done." He said quietly, he knew that Neva had gone to school with Luna, that was before his time but she had told him one night. Luna was supposed to have been innocent seeming at Hogwarts until she was simply carted off to Azkaban. There was no chance Neva could have predicted who she would become until she had already surpassed it. "Don't blame yourself." He said quietly, knowing his words were now just there to break the silence.

And there it was again. The vain attempt at dissuading her of her ideas. It seemed almost like white noise to her, washing over her like a fine rain. It wasn't reaching her heart through her thick skin, hardly listening anymore. What did it matter? She always would blame herself, no matter she was told to the contrary. It had to be her fault. Because if it wasn't, it meant that there was no reason at all for it. And that simply wasn't fair. Everything had a reason otherwise it just didn't make sense.
