Welcome to Nothing Better To Do. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Nothing Better To Do is a rant/support forum made by a few random kids from Colorado. So far we've been running for 2 years and although our community is fairly small, most of the time we keep things at least somewhat active as we talk about our life and vent about our problems et cetera. Anyone and everyone is perfectly welcome, just please no spam, trolling, or flaming. If you've got problems yourself and want to talk about them: come on in and take a seat. After all: you've got nothing better to do.

Sorry to all those who might be offended by this but here's how it is: God either doesn't exist, or he's too damn lazy to help his people. I say this because my family is of the christian faith (father's side) and many of them have been afflicted with diseases and other medical problems, and you'd think that if God was as merciful and compassionate as the bible says he is that he'd help right? Wrong, he can help because there is no such thing. It's like in happened in "Life of Pi" his teacher prayed to cure his polio, but he got cured be medicine, not prayer. i know many people share these beliefs, but let's be honest with ourselves here, would God reallly let his "children" suffer in such a manner? i think not.

another possibility is that god could exist in a form other than the christian belief.

for example its been proposed that the unified field as suggested by the superstring theory is god. by this definition, god is existance. matter and energy. by this definition there is no expectation that god can/would intervene in such things.

another definition is the vague one suggested by the phrase 'god is love'. by this idea 'god' would be created by humans simply out of their love for one another. so, following from that, you could say that in the 'life of pi' example god did cure him. he was cured by medicine which was created because of mankinds love and human's wish to help one another.

so, the point is that the idea of god is not limited to what the priest preaches or the bible reads literally. It is very narrow minded to suggest otherwise.

I'll add a third side to this: you're both right in a way.

God (as far as I'm concerned) does exist, just he's not able to help out due to the fact that light has to balance dark.

For those of you who don't know the fine details of my belief, it basically goes two sides: the trinity of light (father, son, and spirit) and the trinity of darkness (Satan, Baal, and Mephistopheles). The two sides have to balance eachother out or the world will be destroyed due to enslavement of either side. Thus, both sides help in what ways they can, if they deem it smart to do so or required of such.

The big thing about religion though that's hard to argue is the fact that it's so open to interpretation that just about everyone is going to take it in a different way. Thus we are presented many questions about such. Does god exist? If he does, what kind of god is he? Is he the only god? and so on. So, in truth: until we find something that proves one religion true above all else: we're stuck in a rut...

But as for Christianity and all the knock-offs of such a religion, and you Catholics, Jews, Muslims, and whatever the fuck else: I'm sayin you're wrong here and now. Because really: where is your god now?
I seek to attain
serenity of water
steadfastness of earth
quickness of air
passion of fire
subtility of dark
vindication of light
and unity of spirit

Some of you know I'm a moderate Christian. I believe in God and Jesus, but all other religions interpret God differently, so we're all right. I do not like the idea of converting people and refuse to "spread the word of God" unless you become a Chrsitian in which case I'd be more than happy to accomidate you, but you must come to me. It is not right for me to tell you what is and isn't holy.

More on the topic, I once read something where a man aske god why he let all these terrible things happen on Earth and why he doesn't do anything about it. For a while God did not respond, but then he said "I did do something about it, I made you." I think God wants us to learn how to play nice (stop warring and whatnot). As for disease it is a natural thing that has been around long before us, though we should try to eliminate it.

Sui, you questioned "who is this God and what is he like?" Well, haven't we been taught that he's the most forgiving and compassionate being in the universe? (which confuses me as to why he would be so nice and damn people regulary for not being christian). This also leads into a paradox where if he's so nice why does mankind suffer.
