How many pieces of pumpkin pie do you think you'll eat by the end of the year? 1? 2? 10? 20?

How good is pumpkin pie, really? Is there any limit to how good it is?

I'm going to try to eat as many pieces of pumpkin pie this year as possible, who's with me.

Aaron, pumpkin pie is great - and I'm a let you eat it - but coconut cream is the best pie of all time!

But srsly I know it's that time of year now that pumpkins are in, and I do love me some pumpkin pie, It's not listed as an official Jawa favorite though.

Which reminds me - Isn't it just neato that pumpkkin pie tastes nothing likke pum.pkins much like carrot cake tastes nothing like carrots? I wish pumpkins and carrots tasted like that!

0.

I hate pumpkin pie and pumpkins. And I do think they taste similar, though Jawa seems to disagree.

I'm with Gandy on the pumpkin thumbs down. Reminds me of a rotten sweet potato.

I've had 0 thus far this year, but I'm going to go with a conservative 3-4 estimate for the rest of the year.

That shit is bananas.

Pumpkin Pie is great, though I have yet to have any this year. I did eat almost an entire Marionberry Pie with vanilla ice cream in a couple of days. Also, pumpkin bread is equally awesome.

Do you like pie? No, no, no... The Big Tymer says, you prefer STRUDEL.

Farealdoe, I've never even tried the stuff. Pumpkin pie and carrot cake are both mysteries to me.

I love pumpkin pie, and I usually forget it exists until thanksgiving where I have a piece, and then a piece the next day, and thats it for the year.

Well not so fast my friends, this year I went out and got a fresh made pumpkin to enjoy in october!

I will take the over on 10 pieces for myself, and I would wager 14 if I had to choose a hard number.

Also if you don't like pumpkin pie, you are un-American, and you can stick champ's pepperocini juiced finger up your ass, Shiek style.

Origin: 1654

It is as American as Apple Pie (1697), if not more so. True, the English had the name pompion, from which pumpkin derives, before they had any American colonies, but the first pumpkin pie was apparently served on our side of the Atlantic. Even the first attested use of pumpkin is in writing about America, The Simple Cobbler of Aggawam in America (1647). But it is in Edward Johnson's 1654 History of New England...until...1652, or the Wonder-Working Providence of Sions Saviour that we find both pumpkin and pumpkin pie given their just desserts: "And let no man make a jest at Pumpkins, for with this fruit the Lord was pleased to feed his people to their good content, till Corne and Cattell were increased." He also mentions pumpkin pies, but regrettably without a recipe: "This poor wilderness hath...plenty of wine and sugar...quince tarts instead of their former Pumpkin Pies."

If any holiday can be called American it must be Thanksgiving (1621), and there are no more American foods for that day than Turkey (1607) and pumpkin pie. Later our menu expanded to include pumpkin pudding (1805), pumpkin bread (1819), pumpkin soup (1884), and pumpkin butter (1893).

But even in Johnson's affirmation we find the pumpkin treated with less than full respect. To call a person a pumpkin or pumpkin head does not show admiration, as in a 1768 satire: "Come shake your dull noddles, ye Pumpkins, and bawl." Pumpkin head also refers to the earliest of American hair styles. The barber supposedly put a pumpkin shell over the head of a New England colonist and cut along the shell's edges to trim the hair into the proper Puritan shape.

I almost started a separate thread for this, but, how about -- The Egg Nog Challenge

I'm setting my own personal O/U at 5 by the end of the year.

Just saw it on shelves over the weekend, so time to start stockin' up! Picked up pumpkin pie #2 also. Bank that.

See now Egg Nog... the perfect example of something that is good, but you can definitely have too much of it.

I think I feel that way because of this video
