Anyone know if this version of Windows is worth the leap? In my experience with Windows, it seems like there is always an adjustment period, where the product isn't at peak quality upon release. Does Windows 7 need more time to grow, or is it good to go out of the gate? This article acknowledges that it's too early to put it on a scale to compare to older versions, but was worth a brief look. The comments seem to indicate that boot times weren't accurately reported -- http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/itdojo/?p=1075 |

I've been using Windows 7 since March. I was never one to complain about Vista. I thought it worked just fine, much better than XP. But Windows 7 definitely fixes the problems people had with Vista and it is much faster. If you have a @___.edu email address, you can go to win741.com and buy Windows 7 for $30 at a student price. I didn't click that article, but I'm assuming it is referring to some tests a PC clean-up company did on Windows 7. Those tests have been panned most of the places I've seen as biased and an outlier. Of course the PC speed up/clean up company wants people to think that they'll need its services. Windows 7 boot up time is pretty damn good. |

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 (My computer originally had Vista, but I have been using Windows 7 Release Candidate since July). It took my 2-year old computer about half an hour to complete the install. Everything is running fine. |

Sorry Champ if I offend, I mean I realize that for certain things, PCs are better. I dunno, I just think that overall, the Apple people have revolutionized the game while PC has been playing catch up for the past couple of years. The new ad where the guy is like, (paraphrasing) "Yeah, now if I wanna look at two screens at once, I just drag the window over here and Boom! it just snaps into place! I created this!" And to that, I and every Mac user says "Spaces." Just like the Zune is to the iPod. PC just comes out with nothing innovative anymore. I've been a Mac user for almost two years now and I have NEVER had any problem with my MacBook Pro. I am without need of any kind of anti-virus software. I download stuff everyday and I've never had anything go wrong. Granted, I have my complaints. Every computer accepts word documents while pretty much NOBODY is ever able to dl my Macintosh Pages attachments. Which I find to be complete bullshit. Also, its not as good for games and they don't include a word processor and some kind of digital art program (I used to do nudy drawings on ms Paint). Oh, and no Freecell. Yep, that has to be my biggest complaint. |

Jones is right, y'all PC users missed the boat a long time ago. Even if a program starts out PC-only, it'll only be like a month until the Mac has it. And better than that, Macs actually work! When I first got blue-screened in my computer programming class I had no idea what the hell was happening. Fuck those Ataris, buy Apple! |
