Linking this mostly because of the wording in the headline:

It doesn't really get more "News" than an article about the News.

The article is a focus on how local news channels are pulling out all the stops and using ctrl+c ctrl+v techniques from other affiliate stations across the country on tried and true formats and in some cases reusing entire segments.

I find it funny in an attempt to point out how local news stations are embellishing the truth in order to lure in more viewers, the author(s) of this article did the same thing many times over. A prime example is this snippit:

But it’s also part of an attempt to cater to advertisers’ most coveted viewers— women ages 25 to 54.

I thought advertisers most coveted viewers was well known to be the Men ages 18-34 demographic, but what do I know I'm just a lowly TV watcher.

Catch the entire article in the link below, and laugh at how it does exactly what it is reporting on.

I'll leave you with an actual blurb from the local ABC news affiliate here in Birmingham that I heard right before FlashForward came back from commercial break.

I'd never heard that. Women age 25-54 are moms and also creatures who seem obsessed with shopping. I feel like you could get more money out of them, the article says

"The quest for female viewers is changing coverage across the board and is a big reason for the increase in health stories. Women not only tend to control a family’s spending, they’re the family doctor, too, and research shows they’re interested in information about health and well-being."

Cops: Pa. man steals $50, flees on Walmart scooter
AP

Thu Jan 7, 2:50 pm ET

UNIONTOWN, Pa. – Police say a Pennsylvania man in a hospital gown stole $50 from his ex-girlfriend at Wal-Mart, then tried to flee on a store-owned motorized shopping scooter.

Thirty-two-year-old Craig David Jr., of Smithfield, was charged Wednesday with robbery and disorderly conduct.

State police Cpl. Chuck Frey says David had just been released from a hospital for injuries in a domestic dispute Jan. 1. Frey says David had been hit with a frying pan and table leg.

David was still in a hospital gown Tuesday night when he met an ex-girlfriend who agreed to pay for his prescription medication. Instead, police say he grabbed $50 from her and scooted away.

David remained jailed Thursday. He does not have an attorney

I found this to be a neat read, documenting the struggles of homeless people during winter. Reminds me of playing Fallout 3, where I'd have to find makeshift stash houses to rest.

A NIGERIAN drugs smuggler has been arrested in Switzerland with 123 condoms stuffed with cocaine weighing 1.7 kilograms in his stomach, border guards say.
