All 3 computers in my house are from 2002-2006. All 3 computers in my house are working fine. All 3 computers in my house run Windows XP. All 3 computers in my house will not be able to run Windows 8.1. I have no money for a new computer at this time.

In the words of Billy Corgan, what's a boy supposed to dooo?

Why do you need Windows 8.1?

Side note - what brand of computers are you working with? Impressive that all 3 are 10ish years old and still working well.

Dude I got a Dell!

But also I'm very neurotic with what I do with my computers (I have very few programs installed; mostly all of them are used for work).

I'm pretty good with computers, and the one I use now I built myself (not as hard as it sounds). But i'm not sure how your question needs a computer-savvy answer. Gotta make dat $$$. You could consider a Chromebook perhaps, but that is very dependent on your internet access. Those are pretty good and seem to run around $300?

What makes you tihnk you need 8.1?

I would personally love to continue using XP on all three computers; my worry is of this supposed "zero day" threat coming as I still regularly use the internet on all 3 (with an abundance of Adblock, Noscript, etc).

Some websites have mentioned it once XP loses support, as thats the best time to release a virus.
