I've always wanted to get an archive going for the best wrestling matches of all-time. Share your own favorites, either by mention or by video if available! These don't have to be 5-star classics or anything. Just matches that you can put on and enjoy anytime. Since Edge just retired, and Jawa mentioned tracking down his old matches, I'll start with this match I just watched: Hair vs. Hair Match: Kurt Angle vs. Edge, Judgment Day 2002 http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x20ch9_kurt-angle-vs-edge-hair-vs-hair-mat_sport |

Piper vs Hart WM 8 Part 1 Part 2 Hart vs Austin (Sharpshooter, double turn match) Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Hart vs HBK Iron Man Match Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Jericho vs HBK WM Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Hogan vs Rock WM Part 1 Part 2 Bret Hart vs Owen Hart at WM 10 Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 I'm gonna look like a Bret Hart mark, and don't get me wrong, I am, but he was the best technical wrestler the WWE has ever had. He was the ultimate ring general, wasn't afraid to put guys over in the middle of the ring, could have top matches with lumbering Diesel or Yokozuna, brawlers like Steve Austin, quicker guys like Michaels, or technical experts like Benoit or Owen, and make no mistake about it the matches were great largely due to his ability to direct the action in the ring. I was actually surprised when I went to make my list and without even thinking, just kept rattling off the top of my head Bret Hart match after Bret Hart match. The WWE may never have another champion like him, as that era of old school ring generals is long gone. Let me link some of those matches up there Edited by Jawa, May 9 2011, 11:41 AM.

I exclude a lot of the obvious matches, like the first couple TLC matches, the Foley HiaC, Savage vs Steamboat (even though it really is truly a great wrestling match). I also didn't see much at all from 2002 to just recently, save for a few select matches (Hogan / Rock was unbelievable. I love matches that genuinely get the crowd fired up. It's amazing how a dead crowd can make a great match worse, and a live crowd can make a shit match better). Jericho vs HBK was also excellent. |

I'm missing a lot of matches from that time period as well. I'd say we have a lot of catching up to do buddypal! Here's a match that continues both the Edge theme and the missed matches from the mid-2000s theme. Originally recommended to me by Scott. Ladder Match: Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero, Smackdown (yes, this match was on free television) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9xur2_wwe-smackdown-edge-vs-eddie-guerrer_sport Listen to how the crowd pops for the high spots. It's unreal. |

I was watching Hogan vs. Savage from an episode of Nitro in 1998. The match isn't really what stands out, although it isn't bad. I just love the build up. WCW was so good. Those guys knew how to get me jacked up. Bobby the Brain Heenan on Savage: He's the most dangerous athlete from wrestling to checkers. |

I also love this match between Sting and The Giant at Bash at the Beach 1998. First PPV I ever ordered. Well worth it. Awesome David vs. Goliath match when the big man could still work a decent match. Stinger is the best of all time. Also, check out where R-Truth got his smoking cigs gimmick. |

Hell yes man. Matches like the ones TK posted are precisely why this thread was started. Most people are familiar with the Hogan vs. Savage encounter at WM5, so the match TK linked is a great example of the hidden gem that this thread is in search of. The WM5 match can (and will probably be) linked at some point, but those under-the-radar matches are exactly what this all-inclusive archive was built for. Great stuff. Keep the matches rolling folks! |

Bump, I linked my matches listed if anyone wants to check 'em out. I like TK's match because it's not one that really jumps to your mind when you're thinking of the best matches, but Giant / Sting actually did play out really nice and definitely deserves a place in this thread. There was a match that I remember from RAW a few years back I'm gonna try to find, it was one of the most consistent, flowing, high energy matches I've ever seen on RAW. Kind of a spot fest, but it was just amazing and the crowd was into every second of it. And what made it so great I feel is that it had Rikishi, Too Cool, and Mankind in it. BRB LOOKING..... Found it! Triple H, X Pac, Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko vs Cactus Jack, The Rock, Too Cool, and Rikishi. Just watch this thing, it's amazing how fast paced and energetic it is, and how crazy the crowd is through he entire thing, start to finish - Part 1 Part 2 Edited by Jawa, May 9 2011, 11:51 AM.

I finally finished my recommendation for Jawa -- the trilogy of matches Jericho and Mysterio had over the IC Title circa '09. I tried to pick out the best of the 3 (unless you really want to see the other two). Each match has its own merit, but since NM is an extremely anti-Rey fanbase, the best match of the three is clearly Extreme Rules. (I hate breaking matches into parts, but that's the only choice for this link): Jericho vs. Mysterio Pt 1 Jericho vs. Mysterio Pt 2 Jericho vs. Mysterio Pt 3 If anyone hates Rey (not me!), this match is required. Also watch it for the amazing atmosphere Jericho is able to create by starting a promo in front of a souvenir table. He then walks from there through the crowd while talking the whole time, before finishing the promo in the middle of the ring. Pretty awesome. |

Ok, this match doesn't exactly fit the 'Great' tag, but here's Hogan vs. Muta from the Tokyo Dome in '93: http://youtu.be/DO9p6jrksc8 It's just an average match but notable for a few reasons: -Hogan busting out a rolling cross arm breaker. Not as pretty or fluid as ADR's, but its quite a spectacle to see Hogan pull this off. -The most heatless popless reactionless vertical suplex on the floor of all-time! -It's very neat to see a pre-nWo pre-WM18 Hogan start this match as a face and slowly turn heel over the course of the bout. |
