This thread about a video game I thought should belong in the Games section, but I wanted to explore the News & Politics side of this story. I've read a bunch of articles on this, so I don't have one to link in particular. Most of you probably know story anyways. EA is putting out a new Medal of Honor game, based on contemporary wars. In this game, they initially made it possible to play as the Taliban. Naturally, many people reacted quite negatively to this. Now, it appears EA is removing the Taliban from the multiplayer component of the game. So, what is to be made of this? Did EA cross the line by putting real life "BAD GUYS" in the game? Are the nay-sayers overly zealous in their efforts to censor the content? Too soon? Or does it even matter? |

Ridiculous story. Who gives a damn whether you're playing as the Taliban? Old people have some weird notion that video games are like magical incantations that convince the player to do exactly the act on the screen. Some people like being the bad guys damnit! |

I don't really care either which way.. but it is sort of tasteless to include this mode when American troops are still being killed by the Taliban. Again, I'm not offended. It is tasteless. I didn't have a problem with the game not being stocked in army base game stores either. |

I also don't care about them not having it on army bases. Those are government facilities, and frankly given all the desensitization shit soldiers have to go through, I can see how people might think there could be an adverse effect from games. Though I have no evidence they're correct in thinking so, they should definitely have the right to avoid it for the sake of national security. |

Playing as the Taliban and killing american soldiers? THAT'S TERRIBLE Playing as a middle eastern army of terrorists and killing american soldiers? I'm ok with this! It's hilarious how off the mark these faggots are. It reminds me of when after 9/11 for a time there they banned songs on the radio that had any mention of dead bodies, explosions, bombs, death, murder, etc. |

lol scotty you beat me to the punch. It's okay to play video games as people who killed americans in the 1930s and 40s, but not okay to play as people who are killing americans now. Sound logic. |
