Yes, I know. Yet another topic of mine ported over here from the HS. I don't suppose it matters all that much though - the one on the HS died ages ago. Many of you might not even remember it; but I don't mind this - there are people on here who don't use the HS and vice versa, so both are always open to activity. Plus, it's been a while. Your opinions might have changed. I've been playing Perfect Dark yet again. Gone back to it after what feels like a long time. Specifically, the combat simulator, and it made me think: too few games have co-op, too few games have counter-op, and too few games allow for single-player multiplayer, if you get what I mean. In PD, you can play in the combat simulator all by yourself with up to 8 bots, all with different behaviours rather than the simple "Easy, MEdium or Hard" options, although they exist too. Also, PD's combat simulator is one of the most customisable multiplayer setups I've ever played on a console. PC games obviously offer far more, with the ability to make or modify maps, some allow you to change the files in the install directory so that you can have your own custom sounds, so let you change numerical values that affect certain things in game. So it sort of got me thinking, more towards the console games which typically aren't "hackable" (ie. you can't change the files), and I wonder, what are your favourite setups? What sort of options do you have set when you play games? Do you have different ones for each game? What are your favourites? Things I mean by this: - Y-axis: inverted or not? - Difficulty? - Analogue/mouse sensitivity? - Favourite weapon combinations and locations? - Favourite game type? (king of the hill, deathmatch, CTF, etc.) - Favourite control system? Which games have the most awkward controls? And how do you like to have buttons/keys assigned? eg.left analogue stick to look and right to move, or vice versa? - Auto-aim: on or off? - Head roll? - Sight/crosshair? - 1st or 3rd person? - Co-op or counter-op? - Deathmatch or co-op? And the rest if you can think of more. Also, while we're on this sort of topic, how do you feel about co-op and counter-op? Do you think there should be more games which have these features? How do you think these features would be implemented? Are there games which are already out which wouldn't benefit from co-op or counter-op? |

On Metroid Prime I always set the helmet opacity to 0%. Super missiles ftw. |

- Y-axis: inverted or not? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Usually no. - Difficulty? Normal to hardest. Never easy. - Analogue/mouse sensitivity? Medium. - Favourite weapon combinations and locations? Urm... I can't really say, because it varies from game to game. - Favourite game type? (king of the hill, deathmatch, CTF, etc.) Conquest if available, otherwise team deathmatch - Favourite control system? Which games have the most awkward controls? And how do you like to have buttons/keys assigned? eg.left analogue stick to look and right to move, or vice versa? Probably GC resident evil, I'm a glutton for punishment. Or gears of war. - Auto-aim: on or off? Off - Head roll? What? - Sight/crosshair? Crosshair - 1st or 3rd person? 3rd - Co-op or counter-op? Co-op - Deathmatch or co-op? What does team deathmatch count as? |

- Y-axis: inverted or not? I get used to the default. - Difficulty? Normal to hard. - Analogue/mouse sensitivity? Default setting. - Favourite weapon combinations and locations? For Timesplitters 2, I liked the Double Shotgun, in the Chinese map. - Favourite game type? (king of the hill, deathmatch, CTF, etc.) Deathmatch, always a classic. - Favourite control system? Which games have the most awkward controls? And how do you like to have buttons/keys assigned? eg.left analogue stick to look and right to move, or vice versa? When using the dual-analogue, I use the left analogue to move and right to look. For keyboard and mouse, just the default. - Auto-aim: on or off? Off. - Head roll? wat? - Sight/crosshair? Sight. - 1st or 3rd person? 1st. - Co-op or counter-op? Co-op. - Deathmatch or co-op? Deathmatch. |

- Y-axis: inverted or not? Regular. - Difficulty? I usually start with the default, and then move up. Although Crysis decided to change the difficulty for me half way through. I don't know why, but the tank section isn't incredibly difficult after all. - Analogue/mouse sensitivity? Default. - Favourite weapon combinations and locations? Anything that burns people on Dustbowl for TF2. For Timesplitters and Perfect Dark I couldn't choose, they're all great. - Favourite game type? (king of the hill, deathmatch, CTF, etc.) Control Point for Tf2, but I play a variety. Virus, Flame Tag, Capture The Bag, Timesplitters is great for game types. - Favourite control system? Which games have the most awkward controls? And how do you like to have buttons/keys assigned? eg.left analogue stick to look and right to move, or vice versa? I use default keyboard controls for most. If I'm emulating (or it's a 360 posrt) I'll use my 360 control pad. - Auto-aim: on or off? Auto Aim is cheating. - Head roll? Same as Howe on this one, I have no idea what you're talking about. - Sight/crosshair? Off. Unless there isn't an option, then I'll use the default. - 1st or 3rd person? First. I haven't played many 3rd person games that I've liked though. GTA have given me a negative outlook on them. Maybe it will change when I finally get Gears Of War. - Co-op or counter-op? Both are good, alhough the only game I can name with Counter-Op is Perfect Dark. - Deathmatch or co-op? Deathmatch. |

You all make me sound crap, mostly! - Y-axis: Inverted - Difficulty: Normal for the first few plays, then up or down depending on how easy/hard it is. - Analogue/mouse sensitivity? Normal to high. Depends on the game, but typically I like it semi-high for quick reactions. - Favourite weapon combinations and locations? For dual-wielding, RCP-90s! I also like mounted turrest that can be controlled, and weapons which work by themselves are a personal favourite. By that, I mean deployable sentry guns or things like that. I like the ability to be able to hack a sentry gun in Bioshock to work on your side. - Favourite game type? (king of the hill, deathmatch, CTF, etc.) Depends on the game, but typically deathmatch or capture the flag. Pop a cap from PD is also good. - Favourite control system? Which games have the most awkward controls? And how do you like to have buttons/keys assigned? eg.left analogue stick to look and right to move, or vice versa? Metroid Prime had the most awkward control system until you got used ot it, then it was as natural as peeing in the sea. I'm also finding that games are including too many controls recently, but I don't blame that on the fact that it's modern. Prey actually had very few controls which made it good to control, but STALKER has far too many. I also like E to be Use when using the keyboard, so it's annoying to be able to lean left and right round corners when they're set to Q and E. - Auto-aim: on or off? On - Head roll? On, even though it can actually cause a problem. Check HEad Roll in GoldenEye or Perfect Dark. It's where your character's head moves realistically when aiming. Attach a camera to your head and try to keep still - you'll see how much you move inadvertently. That's what Head Roll mimics. - Sight/crosshair? Crosshair on. Otherwise it can be difficult to know where you're aiming. - 1st or 3rd person? Depends on the game, but I like the ability to maneouvre the camera in 3rd person so that you can see around a corner without exposing yourself. - Co-op or counter-op? Counter-op. That way your friend doesn't need to know what to do - they just try to kill you. - Deathmatch or co-op? Deathmatch, for the same reason. |

Difficulty: Depends on the game. Easiest for virtua fighter 4 (this game punishes you massively otherwise), but hardest for most of my main games (tekken, soul calibur, morrowind, super smash bros) Y-axis: normally inverted. Sensitivity: Low to medium. Always low on my steering wheel. Favourite weapon combos: Destroy all humans 2-ion detonator and zap-o-matic. I almost always have zap as a primary weapon and ion detonators on hand for fun. Soul Calibur 3-lance for breezing through chronicles of the sword, but kunai for a bit of a challenge. Other than that, fave weapons are morrowind's daedric dai-katana (great range OHKO) Favourite game type: Assault on star wars battlefront 2. I've never even seen the films, but Darth Maul's a legend. On smash bros melee, stock fight (with lives). Other than that, no real preferences on any of my games for this one. Control system is always the default for me, except morrowind. I'm not a PC gamer, so the W, A, S & D for forward, left, back and right respectively confused me. Changed to arrows. I changed jump and sneak buttons, as well. Can't remember what they used to be... Auto-aim & crosshair: Both on. I'm shocking at FPS, so I need the help XD 1st or 3rd person: 3rd person. I'm fairly vain, and I like to see my character perform each and every action/kill. Co-op or counter op: Counter op if it's my choice. I love the thrill of the fight against a mate, as I long to be the best. Even on a mates game, I'd go counter op (sometimes after a bit of practice). If it's on one of my games though, they normally do co-op out of fear. |
